What does the recent conviction of Derek Chauvin mean to you personally (no commentary)

One bad guy kills another bad guy.  It is illegal to murder a bad guy, so justice was done after a fair trial where the accused had an excellent attorney. The world is a safer place with neither able to harm others. I do not understand the murals and deification of the victim given the criminal life he led where he harmed others.

It means I have to listen to my alt-right coworker rant about racist shit. Police absolutely have the right to shoot blacks (you just can't trust kneegrows).

Fun Fact: He's Guatemalan.

Post day reaction:

Progress.  It reminds me of how corporations have slowly been forced to deal with their bad actors, rather than just ignoring their sexual harassment and other malfeasance.  There are consequences in companies for protecting certain kinds of behavior.  Not perfect justice but progress.

The fact that polices officials testified against their own means that there may be less compunction about seeking out and punishing bad police behavior.

It's a sign of progress.

Best to remain cynical, but still.

Small victory but I don’t think(don’t expect) things will change structurally. Verdict surprised me though.

I think it depends on how frequently these crimes get caught on camera.
