Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

That dumbass fake 247 OU mod is still shitposting about Ewers and Clemson. Clemson hasn't offered Ewers, and they're going after Ty Simpson. That isn't very difficult to figure out if you have a 247 sub and can venture over to Clemson 247, which he presumably can, as a fake 247 mod.

Not only that but they've offered Braden Davis as well as the fallback option. That guy is such a fucking clown.

Looks like we're in for another Hayes Fawcett special

Did a quick watch of his sophomore film. His eye discipline stands out the most. He's able to keep track of his receiver while keeping his eyes on the QB, which leads to a lot of his interceptions and breakups. A lot of guys, including many of our DBs, either lose track of the WR when they try to watch the QB or never even try to watch the QB. It's a skill that can be taught, but there's also an element of natural aptitude that's important and he shows that as an underclassman, which is a good sign.  He doesn't appear to be the quickest or fastest and shows some poor technique in his coverage, but the latter can be easily fixed.  He does show some good hip fluidity on the plays where poor technique leads to him getting turned around. He shows a pretty good ability to play the ball in the air.

His testing numbers from the Army All American Combine aren't great, but that was early in the process and you never know how seriously guys are taking those. I would be willing to bet he could improve those numbers a good bit if he focused on them. He only runs 400m, so track times aren't very helpful and that may also mean his long speed isn't great if he doesn't run the shorter events. Overall, he has some really good instincts and looks to be a guy who can be very effective in press-man and is also able to contest jump balls if left on an island, but 247 having him ranked 57th in the country seems too high. Hard to say though this early, they've definitely seen more of him at combines and 7 on 7s then I have and they're usually the best evaluators of the services, so hopefully they've seen some added traits that give more reason for optimism.

40 - 4.82; Shuttle - 4.3; Broad - 9'9; Wing span - 74, Hands - 8.66.

I really hope this new staff gets it  and doesn't coach that natural ability out of the players.

A good coach with a good system will teach that system and get the most out of the players abilities.

You can do both.

I haven't yet gotten my arms around the 2022 DBs and where they sort out to on the field.  Is the thought that Guilbeau would be a spur/nickelback in Ash's D?  His 40 speed isn't great on his 247 bio (understanding that was a 40 time run by a high school sophomore).
