I talked to a friend today about this past weekend and the next few coming up. He’s not a Texas guy but he’s in on all of it. We talked Arch, ATM, LSU, Bama, Texas, Keynote George, Beard, Sarkisian, and a bunch of 2022 and 2023 guys. Bear Alexander’s recruitment, you name it. Not once did either of us even mention Ewers. That dude is gone unless he shifts gears like right now.

CTJ just ruined my hope above but I did notice he hasn’t posted any pics of his visit last weekend.

It doesn’t appear that the kid is 100% bought into fOSU right now, and hasn’t been for a little while, but it’s time to cut nuts or whatever. A lot could hinge off of Son of Cooper’s visit this weekend. Or not. $9.95 plz

I agree he's not 100% bought in to OSU,  but as of now I don't think he comes to Texas.  Now,  if we leave Dallas undefeated after kicking OU's ass things might change.

I don't know if Sark would take a commit from Arch for some assurance to the Mannings that Ewers won't be around. I don't know if those kinds of deals are made or not,  but I tend to think Sark wouldn't put himself in that position.

The last time it posted a shark gif is the date of Bryan Allen Jr's commitment.

Other time was Jan 3rd, which I believe was the day after Herman was let go and Sark was essentially hired.

Well I haven’t wavered, so there’s that. I’m at 40%, which is pretty optimistic.

I’m cool with Maalik if that’s the finish. Let’s lock up these WRs and some OL.

IT has been adding air to the Arch fire for awhile now.. the way they put it, it seems like he's ours to lose.  But I can't take them that seriously when they keep stringing the Ewers recruitment out, weekly..  "he's still listening, parent's are still in UTs corner, worried that he'll be labeled as a flip flopper, 60% chance at a flip, etc, etc"

I don't even see a push of the current committed kids for Ewers.. however I do see that Owens is recruiting Arch to Austin for months now.

This.. If Ewers comes-back cool, but I really think Murphy is being overlooked and I get it.. but that kid has elite tools and at this point you have to trust Sark with his track record of getting the best out of his QBs.. while also having faith that Murphy's work ethic is good as advertised and he is in it for the long haul.

We're not getting Ewers. The $9.95ers are just keeping that alive for clicks.

People seem to feel legitimately pretty good about Manning. Apparently the family likes Sark a lot. Let's be realistic, though - there's at least 18 months left until he can sign, and all the national powerhouses will be recruiting him. If someone told me that we had like a 25% shot at this juncture, I'd feel pretty good about that.

There are 3 routes in today's recruiting landscape for Texas to go, now that the SEC has fully invaded the state with a flood of money and corruption, led by and thanks to the mouthbreathing shit heels in College Station.

1) Georgia/Tenn/ATM route - straight-up slinging money overtly to recruits, handlers, and families. This works on some level, but there are families and recruits that aren't going to be wowed solely by $50k-$200k, depending upon the recruit. This angle also involves character risk.

2) Bama/USC/Ohio State - do the deals when you have to do them, but don't sacrifice for character and fall back on being a blue blood with a ton of advantages and the longer game for recruits once their career is over. Cherry-pick the portal as you deem appropriate. (Please don't insult this board's intelligence with some pedantic take involving recency bias about why USC shouldn't be listed here, this is who they historically are.)

3) Oklahoma/Iowa State - find your guys and get them every time, avoid the full-blown auctions because they're not worth your time due to the character/culture clash they usually bring to the lunchpail business. Play the portal to your advantage and build classes with it in mind.

4) Texas/Notre Dame/Michigan - be a patrician dipshit without an apparatus for getting guys you need, claim piety, and roll with whoever your blue blood status still enables you to land. This is no longer an option in this state and this has been abandoned by the staff.

It appears that the staff is going to go the route of option 2. It is going to be interesting to see what happens in the clash between that route and the dipshits in-state and invading the state with option 1. NIL's arrival cannot get here soon enough.

Bear Alexander and his handler are overtly running an auction for visits, commits, and ink. It will finish in the 6 figures for a player that already shows flakiness with transfers and character issues inherent with the behavior I just described. There's a reason Bama isn't pushing for a guy like this. He's a mercenary with risk all over him. Texas will be foolish to even host him on campus at all from here forward.

Things went well this past weekend, but let's see who all is wowed by straight bankroll and who isn't. I expect Texas to land a stud class, but the DB end can hurt. Brooks is going to sign with Bama. ATM is throwing money at the problem. Texas needs to sign Allen, Anderson, Guilbeau and Harris. A whiff on most of them will suck because they're all elite in some form. I expect Texas to be fine and figure it out.

This is a big cycle for all kinds of reasons, and it will tell us a lot about this staff's ability to get things done when they need to while still finding their guys who love football and may or may not be 5 stars, but develop either way into animals.

Could do more but got to get back to legit work. Sorry for typos, I'll proofread and edit this stream of consciousness later.

I'll take a combination of option 2 and 3 for the record.

That seems to by the staff’s approach. Two and three really aren’t that different depending where you draw the “worth the time” line. It’s not like Oklahoma doesn’t feast on transfers, and this staff is obviously utilizing that option aggressively. It’s the extremely dirty and naïve ends of the spectrum that stand out.

The addition of Alabama transfer running back Keilan Robinson has the potential to change the landscape at running back, both on the chalkboard and on the recruiting big board.

While Steve Sarkisian works out ways to assimilate the known commodity (to him) into the playbook and player rotation, he’ll also need to work out how Robinson affects roster management.

Bijan Robinson would be the starting running back at Alabama this upcoming season, so K. Robinson’s arrival won’t affect him from a starting standpoint. Keilan should help keep Bijan fresh for later in the season, and may reduce his targets in the passing game some, but ultimately Keilan is a turbo booster to the Bijan powered engine.

How does K. Robinson affect Roschon Johnson? It’s too early to know for sure, but my guess is Johnson won’t see his snap count drop much, though he may have to timeshare RB2 duties. Roschon’s value extends beyond when he’s carrying the ball. In addition to logging standard down carries, he can fill an ancillary role in two-back sets while also featuring as the short yardage or goal line back.

If you removed Bijan from the equation, I’d still be excited about the proverbial thunder and lightning Roschon and Keilan provide.

While I don’t think he’ll factor into playing time this season, when it comes to roster management we must account for 2021 signee Jonathon Brooks. Brooks has the hallmarks of a maximizer who will out-perform his ranking. He just needs some time to acclimate to the big jump in competition.

Playing time is easy to understand. The main intrigue to me is trying to figure out how Robinson affects recruiting in the 2022 class.

To get an idea there, let’s sum up what the staff has in Robinson: He’s a versatile speed-back with pinball power and slot machine attributes.

The speed speaks for itself. By pinball power, I mean, he has a lower center of gravity, good balance, and is hard to hit square. Basically, he can break tackles even if he isn’t the biggest back. Think, Tre Watson versus Georgia. A slot machine is a slot receiver with running back attributes, not unlike Devin Duvernay. Those guys are hard for smaller defenders to tackle, especially in space.

These attributes remind me a lot of Tyler Lee’s Jamarion Miller. At last check, the staff is prioritizing Miller and we feel if they can get him to campus this month, the recruitment has the potential to bounce back. However, it’s possible he could be viewed as redundant to K. Robinson. We’re not saying that’s the case, by the way, but it’s something we’re monitoring.

Lake Charles, La., running back, TreVonte’ Citizen may be Stan Drayton’s favorite back in the nation. Citizen took his official visit to Texas last weekend and enjoyed it. How much he enjoyed it, only Citizen, his close circle, and Texas know. UT will have wanted to get a good read here in order to understand whether the juice will continue to be worth the squeeze. With instate LSU and Texas A&M posing legitimate threats, there is stiff competition.

The addition of Robinson, along with having Jaydon Blue committed, allows the staff to play the long game if it wishes. Another reason to play the long game with Citizen or anyone else? The expectation Bijan Robinson’s season is going to become a national headline.

Like Citizen, Newton’s DeAnthony Gatson took an official visit to Texas this past weekend. It’s likely Gatson is more tied to the Citizen recruitment than any other factor. Again, the staff finds itself with the ability to let things play out if it wishes. UT is in great shape for Gatson, who has plant-and-go ability for outside zone but will also muscle up to 220 pounds and be effective between the tackles.

El Paso Burges runner Tavorus Jones profiles as a north/south slasher with good game-speed. He will take an official visit to Texas in two weeks. Given the various scenarios in play, and accounting for Jones being very high on UT, will the staff press?

The elephant in the room is current commit Jaydon Blue, who is a student at Klein Cain. While some fans think it’s great he’s ”saving his body,” there isn’t a coach in America of any sport worth his or her salt who thinks that’s a good indication of future success.

As players, Blue and Keilan Robinson have some overlap in their speed and ability as receivers.

It’ll be fascinating to see how it all plays out. One thing is for sure, the addition of Robinson improved the staff’s hand, and the bridge to Rueben Owens in the 2023 is much more sturdy.
