Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

Yes, CTH gets it. This is what matters to recruits who are weighing their options to try to be the most successful version of themselves. We, as Texas fans, have to take off our UT bias here. Sure, there will always be kids who grow up red ass or bleeding burnt orange who go to aggy or UT because of it, but when BLAKE F'N BROCKS kids go to Bama because of UT's current former development and program reputation, that should tell you something about how everyone else else currently views Texas.

I disagree. At this point, it's still the exact same. Sark hasn't had a chance to change it yet. I get that you're being picky about wording and timeline, but it's not past tense when it's still the same today as it was then.

Yes, like i said, other than 2-3 years when we played like Bama and OSU, we have underachieved. This shit can't turn around soon enough.

The "football isn't fun unless we win every game" mindset is a sad way to go through life man. Maybe 7-8 teams ever have had a run as good as we had through 10 years of Mack, and one of those was the Texas DKR years. And as for losing to OU half the time, that's why it's a rivalry. They're one of the best teams in the nation most years, and we still have the series record on them.

You think the brand new Texas staff should go toe to toe with possibly the best offensive mind in college football who coaches for a team that has won 9 plus games for 20 years and has two recent heisman QB’s that we’re also drafted #1 overall. All the while making the college football playoffs damn near every year and beating the doors off of us and the rest of the big 12 for the better part of 20 years. That sounds reasonable. I’m on board with this narrative 100%. What could they be selling that we can’t, am I right? You should help them sell the nfl, player development and all the big time winning we have done man. Should be easy before we have played a single game.

How long does the series record have relevance.  10 years? 20 years?  50 years?  How the fuck does ou beat us on a regular basis?   Will the sec move change the current situation?

I wasn't talking about going through life. There are many things that keep me happy but when you're watching your team play, you want them to be better than others, no? We have had a short span of success mostly due to a generational player.

That any attempt to compare our recruiting to Oklahoma’s is disingenuous. They have been successful for 20 years now with very few hiccups between two great head coaches. They play the semi bags game when necessary and they turn all their offensive talent into draft picks while also sending a few defensive players to the nfl here and there. Texas losing its momentum or not gaining any is because we suck ass…until we don’t. Jimbo just finished the season ranked 4th. The hill has never been steeper for a Texas coach. That’s all lol

Good point. Nobody on the current staff has ever developed anybody

You’re correct. At Texas, they have not. Thus, Texas’ reputation still stands. Damn, y’all are so defensive on this shit. We’ve been subpar. That doesn’t mean Texas will always be.

I agree with this. People here are extremely defensive when deep down everyone knows we have sucked for years. When we have good players, we have bad coaches and vice versa. What would it take to make it all come together?

I’ll admit there’s a difference between HC and non-HC, but if Meyer or Saban had come here in one of the last cycles, would you be making the same point of “well they haven’t done shit at Texas yet?” You’re stating and buying in to the same negative recruiting that the HS players are. Unfortunately, Sark does have to prove himself to get over that argument, but someone over the age of 18 should be able to acknowledge that it’s not a well founded selling point.

LOL. No. That would be either Notre Dame or tOSU. Aggy finished #3 in the SEC, but it’s a fair argument to say they were #2 since they beat Florida, who then also got pantsed by OU.

Well then Sark should also get to sell his undefeated record at Texas.

History and common sense is your friend, bro. If you don’t make the playoffs, you don’t get to claim being ahead of someone in the playoffs. That’s the most aggy argument ever.

Do you seriously think Texas is in any position to process commits in this class?

We partially did that with our cornerback commit. I think we thought spots would get tight with Anderson and Harris. Perhaps, we were just laissez faire. But now, my feeling is that if A&M wants him then he is gone. I don't feel overwhelmingly confident with any commit or lean these days.

You’re being an aggy and distorting reality. Look colt should have won the heisman over Bradford right…Vince over bush right? You think Mack ever sat anybody down and said listen son we should have won a heisman so come here because we win imaginary heisman awards? The reality is Jimbo gets to sell 4 years of stability, a 9-1 record playing all secsecsec teams and ending the year in the top 4. 18 year old kids will eat that shit up. It doesn’t matter that you think they don’t deserve it lol.

Couldn’t have said it better…Idk why we think we’re entitled to things..Thats why Texas is in this position… Living off hype instead of reality..

That's one positional grouping. It doesn't really move the needle for the perception of the program. Also, many of those guys were late-round picks or undrafted. Which, again, just supports the narrative that Texas hasn't been good at developing players.
Current NFL DBs:
Phillips: 2014, undrafted
Diggs: 2015, 6th round
Elliott: 2018, 6th round
Hill: 2018, undrafted
Boyd: 2019, 7th round
Locke: 2019, undrafted
Jones: 2020, 3rd round
Sterns: 2021, 5th round
Now, go compare their recruiting rankings with where those rankings get drafted, on average. Spoiler alert, it's shit.
DB is, by far, Texas' most successful grouping in terms of sheer numbers in the NFL, but when broken down by draft position, it doesn't point in our favor. This, right here, is how other schools are able to negatively recruit us.

Actually this is NFL dumbassery. Anti-Big 12 dumbassery.

Only Sterns of this bunch was drafted higher than his college production. And that could be debatable if you account for injuries.

Like Poona Ford. It was not development or lack of production that landed him as a free agent. You got it. NFL dumbassery. And lack of height. And Big 12. Which points to you know what.

Its almost as if kids are fucking stupid and will believe anything anyone tells them. Texas has a bad record the past 10 years! In the past 10 years Texas has gone 74-52 while Aggy has gone 84-43 besides their magical season of losing to Alabama their best record was 9 years ago at 11-2 with a Heisman trophy winner and then followed it up with 8 years of  averaging 8.25 wins. They've won 3 bowl games in a row we've won 4. We won 10 games 3 years ago they won 10 games 9 years ago. We do nothing with highly ranked players they do nothing with highly ranked players. They had 4 players drafter we had 5 players drafted. Aggy has sucked just as much as we have yet no one cares because no one cares about Aggy and all their recruiting pitch amounts to is come play in the SEC.

Pretty sure their best season, with regards to these recruits, is last year when they were a one loss team and we canned a coach and brought in a new staff. One coach can sell - come play in the SEC next year, the other is forced to sell - yeah the SEC is where we want/plan to be and hopefully will be there before you graduate. Now I would think that having to live in college station would overcome this, but kids aren't always rational. It sucks but is what it is.

A guy like Banks has a reputation as a top recruiter, but does that predate his time at Bama? He was there from 2018-2020, so at the time he was hired they had won 5 of the last 9 national championships. Looks like he was part of some nice classes early in his tenure at aggy (coming off the JFF high) but then they trailed off a little to just "okay".

I have an avid aggy friend who thinks Banks is overrated as a recruiter. He said he was always in the top 2 or 3 for recruits but never closed while he was at aggy
