Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

To me he's got 2 games to do whatever he wants as it can't get any lower and we're likely not going to win them anyway.  You really want to bench some guys who aren't giving effort, now is the chance. For the SR's that fall into that category, could care less, for the JRs... let'em know are you in or out, show me.

If he wants to be a real leader instead of just blaming his players for everything that has gone wrong, this is what he should do. The season is totally lost. All efforts should be placed on next year. Any and all playing time should be allocated on effort and intensity at this point.

I chose to put this post here so if it’s the wrong place will gladly delete and replace with a random gif.

I heard something yesterday regarding the majority of the team (those not bought in/tuned out whatever) that they were told by our former HC the reason he was fired was bc of the protests/woke stuff backlash specifically over the Eyes. I only really have one “insider” if you want to call it that. And I do realize when you hire and fire you will have attrition and folks who aren’t bought in. But this is on a scale I’ve never seen.

Again if it’s the wrong place my bad. Will delete and replace. When Traylor came in (there is a great clip on this from the UTSA thread) at UTSA the first thing he did was call his “top” players. Let them know how much they were needed and blah blah blah. Second thing bc it was a COVID year he spent all day long with the players and the gym and wherever and however he could to get to know them, know their capabilities and get their buy in on him and he’d recruit at night. I understand it’s apples to oranges here (like where were most of those players going anyway—probably easier to get their buy in than perhaps here) but damn. What I am seeing from the current roster is as bad as I’ve ever witnessed.

Sark wasn’t my guy. I don’t think he will be the guy. Surely he came in here trying to do the same with UT players as Traylor did with the UTSA players? They aren’t bought in and I heard a few things last night and on Saturday from someone else that makes me wonder if what I heard was true.

will delete if necessary. Carry on.

I don't know anything from anyone in the know, but isn't this what most thought?  we the fans wanted Herman gone for football reasons but I always believed the University did the canning pretty much solely due to the negative PR from all that mess.  Largely the same group of players that became apparently really invested in off the field advocacy is now being expected to forget it all and focus on football?  Their give a fuck meter is just so low, I would be curious to know what else you heard

I’m more interested in how the roster is cleansed over the offseason.  That is what will make or break Sark.  I know y’all hate Sark for loosing year one with Herman’s shitty recruits

How many of these guys would be playing at all if the guys in front of them weren't total busts or transfer? Sweat? Wiley can't be relied on to play half of what his position entails, and the rest are either gone, jags, or have no business playing right now (though I would entertain arguments for Barron).

Finally, the meat of the classes where you find the surprise starters, depth, and specialists/situational players.

A bunch of OL jags yet to sniff the depth chart, evals yet to pan out, and guys who wouldn't be playing if not for attrition and injuries. This tier gives us exactly one guy who has outplayed his ranking in Roschon.

Herman got a lot of credit for '18 and '19, but we're watching the dumpster fire that is the 2018 class as mostly starters, and there's nothing of value behind them with the exception of a handful of guys who may still pan out + Bijan Robinson.

We have nothing. This is a rebuild. Hopefully Sark treats it like one.

It’s a natural reaction. I laughed. A big ‘ol walk on caught the 2PC to seal Kansas’s win over Texas. It’s funny.

Perkins isn’t not coming here because of that. He already wasn’t coming here.

I'm not saying he is coming here but do players regularly visit a school that frequently if they have no interest in playing there? If I'm not mistaken that is his third game this year is it not.

Do recruits sit in the end zone  ?    Thought they would sit with their parents (if accompanied) near the parent section close to midfield (or used to be)  ?

But as someone previously mentioned,  it was Student Parents Weekend so perhaps a change.

I absolutely think it's both, but the buck stops with the men paid to coach the other men up. It's literally their jobs.

I agree, but I'm happy to give him at least one full offseason to start unfucking the situation and see how it goes.  I've seen enough to know that cycling out coaches/coaching staffs every other year isn't a good plan.

They built a space for recruits and their family in the new sez so as of this season, yes.

moved them away from the section 28 riff raff and near the empty gray seats.

0.9023 Jag

A bunch of OL jags yet to sniff the depth chart, evals yet to pan out, and guys who wouldn't be playing if not for attrition and injuries. This tier gives us exactly one guy who has outplayed his ranking in Roschon.

Herman got a lot of credit for '18 and '19, but we're watching the dumpster fire that is the 2018 class as mostly starters, and there's nothing of value behind them with the exception of a handful of guys who may still pan out + Bijan Robinson.

We have nothing. This is a rebuild. Hopefully Sark treats it like one.

The 9.95ers are the ones who rated the class high, they can't call it out and say they were wrong

They built a space for recruits and their family in the new sez so as of this season, yes.

moved them away from the section 28 riff raff and near the empty gray seats.

And I assume part of the reason they put them in that location was for easy acces to the locker room, football facilities, and field level.

I listened to Bobby Burton’s latest podcast with Joe Cook. At the end of it he said that Sark enjoys “almost uniform support” among the BMD’s he talks to, even after the Kansas game, due to the way Sark comports himself off the field, both in public appearances and privately. They think Sark represents the University well, which seems to jibe with our Surly reports from the mood inside the SEZ suites. Rage away, but that’s what Bobby said.

OK, Cool.

Hook ‘em

Too much more of this and they’ll be watching games by themselves.

Talent, we’re talking about talent? These guys aren’t here to play football, regardless of their talent. Its been obvious for years. These Kansas players, and basically every other team we line up against, love playing football more than whatever “team” we’ve been fielding for the past 10+ years.

Like anyone else with a brain, I'm all for adding elite talent every season. But if we fielded a team of run-through-a-wall 3-stars, they'd almost certainly outperform the comedy troupe we're now fielding on OL and nearly everywhere on defense. I don't know what sort of leadership we have on staff, but it's easy to tell there's little to none of it on the field.

Character doesn't register as part of a SPARQ score. But we'd better start finding a way to identify and sign decent prospects who have it. That's probably the surest way to eventually flush the lines on this "culture" we've created, no matter who's most to blame for it.

Lololololol

jajajsja I remember when I used to make fun of Texags for posting this crap.

I like this post.  other than Mark Stoops, Alf and Mackovic(I'll keep Traylor on it for now since he was talked about last year) every one of these guys could have been on the list last year.

question: if you add Steve Sarkisian's name to this list, where does he land?

He needs to convince them the only way to win is to start dropping bags. Then we’ll see if he has the support

I’m sorry, but the bullshit around attrition and talent is fine and all, but Kansas is in a far worse situation in both instances than Texas. They were on the road. Give me a fucking break on the apologism for Sarkisian and his band of buttfucks regarding the loss on Saturday or this season. Yeah, talent and players are part of the problem, but we’re awash in shitty mediocrity with the coaching staff, starting with the unmerited head loser in charge. Jesus tittyfucking Christ.

You're not wrong, but don't discount the fact that buttfucks can win championships with superior talent. Buttfucks like Gene Chizik and Barry Switzer. The problem is the roster. I have no confidence that this staff can turn it around by force of will and good vibes, but they inherited a problem they can't fix. They didn't create the problem. There's no talent on the roster, much less the superior talent that this staff could win with. The staff sucks, the roster sucks, the product is worse. There's no apologism here.
