Hopefully they’re vetting these PWOs to make sure none of them have a 5-star younger brother that’s going to turn his back on us because their family has zero fucking sense of pride or loyalty. Would be crazy to make that mistake twice.

Do the walk ons or scout team guys GPA count toward the average.  Could see a utility for getting some aerospace/chemical engineering/plan ii type walk ons.

If they're on the roster, sure. There is no rule that says only scholly players count.

Why are only scholarship student-athletes included in the APR?

The membership made the decision to only include scholarship student-athletes in the metric in part to create consistency across the measurements of all schools. There was also an initial concern about the academic success of scholarship student-athletes. The APR came into place to address concerns regarding how student-athletes in certain sports were graduating. Those tended to be the scholarship student-athletes. It’s not that they’re not concerned about walk-ons and their academic success, it’s just that they traditionally have not been a problem.

I can't wait for the PWO NIL. No difference between that and the old Nebraska system.

Except there's an offseason roster cap of 105

Do PWOs usually get one year as a PWO and then they either:

1) Earn a scholarship…

…or…

2) Drop down to ordinary Walk On status and can enjoy getting help being admitted into UT while being a tackling dummy or just play school full-time, because another 20 PWOs are coming in next year

Are there guys that stay PWOs for 2 to 4 years?

i know a handful of dudes who stayed on for 4 years, on the team but not traveling to away games. i have no idea what % of PWOs end up spending 4-5 years on the team though.

You could possibly go back to Freshman teams which would be pretty entertaining. I think I would watch PWOs from Texas play PWOs from Alabama, etc.

You can carry 105 players on the roster in the offseason. PWO is an assurance that you’re one of those 105 and with the program year round

Yes.  The real distinction is rostered vs non-rostered player, and PWOs are guaranteed to be rostered for at least one year.

Rostered players get everything that scholarship players do except for tuition and housing. They receive a cost-of-attendance stipend, free computers/devices, free tutoring, preferred housing/dining, nike swag, etc.

RECRUITING

One rather large fish remains on the line for UT's Class of 2022. When one of the nation's top offensive lineman has Texas within his sights, it tends to bring one last gasp of excitement as the 2022 cycle comes to a close. On Wednesday, National Signing Day II will come and go, and the Horns just have to reel in this trophy catch.

OL Devon Campbell, Bowie (Arlington, TX) - 2022: The On3 Consensus five-star and No. 12 overall prospect for the 2022 class will announce his future intentions in 48 hours. Inside Texas has been consistent in our prognosticating of where we believe the 6-foot-3, 325-pound guard ultimately ends up.

He's visited one school more than others. He's built solid relationships with many of UT's staffers. And early playing certainly seems to appeal to the monster of the interior. We love where Texas stands in these sweepstakes and don't see any reason to change now.

IT has maintained Texas has a very large lead since the end of the early signing period. Nothing has changed, even though some others in the industry that cover Texas have pinned the recruitment as “50-50”. This recruitment hasn’t been close to that since December 15. Those other people are dead wrong.

Probably IT's most straightforward answer on Campbell yet. If national 9.95ers don't know he already signed, they are really bad at their jobs which would come as no surprise.

Love them or hate them, you have to give them credit. They are one of the few that will put their nuts on the table and make a call. Makes for good entertainment at a minimum.

They seem pretty bold in their knowledge, through recurring, not-so-subtle hints, that Campbell signed in December.

OU has been to see him or at least been to his basketball games since then.  Why would they do that if he had already signed?

Maybe they'll get him to portal if they try hard enough

Maybe to potentially pull a scenario like X last year.

They way they've been "seeing him" makes me more optimistic he has signed. Schools can go his basketball games, but they can't directly visit or tamper. I could be wrong, but I'm unaware of OU actually visiting him directly.

Perkins will sign with us tomorrow.

Campbell is done. Anyone worrying otherwise is just looking for shit to worry about and there are better alternatives such as: inflation; climate change; the price of tea in China; where your wife or girlfriend is when you can't reach her; martians; or Seven Loss Steve's ability to pull off a winning record in 2022.

Folks I am friends with think tomorrow is surprisingly low key for SD2. That said:

-Perkins to LSU

-Matthews to LSU or Florida - he's thrown a fit about ATM

-Campbell to Texas

-Stewart to ATM unless Cristobal comes up with something really big

-Citizen will sign LOIs with 3 different schools and they'll all think he's coming there until it's sorted... kidding mostly.

I could believe that.

If the rest was:

He will get large $ nil deal, get injured mid way thru his first season and just never be the same. Ends up portaling before the following season ends and transfers to a down LSU then the following season to UCF where he has a solid season that gets him some looks from the league. He gets drafted in the 5th round.

He then plays for 12 seasons, appears in 8 Super Bowls and 10 Pro Bowls. Retires in the FL area where amongst other ventures he starts a taco restaurant based on the tacos he had during his time in Austin which then, becomes a popular chain throughout the South, southwest and CA. The logo is a symbol that when seen at a distance come together to form an upside down longhorn.

If Crystallball can't build a big enough bag to keep the local 5* auction player home, what's the point of him being there?

There is some notion in this recruitment that the player doesn't actually want to remain in Miami. I guess I just struggle to believe that there is someone on this planet that would willingly spurn an opportunity to be a star in their hometown, Miami nonetheless, in order to travel to and live in College Station.

And also decide that the defending national champs with the best defense in the country is also not good enough to pass on A&M. He probably fell in love with one of his hosts to keep going on random visits last year. Wait until he has to share that dude next year with other recruits.
