Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

Not sure, @closetojumping could shed more light. I know LSU runs shit through a casino

My friends at Bama are emphatic that they do not cheat. It's not even something we discuss at this point because their heads are planted firmly up their assholes on that front.

There are folks on here familiar with the Trey Sanders recruitment that had pretty good data at the time in regard to how they handled that one because the dad ran it. When that happens, schools should try to get creative. Trent Richardson's dad was given a phantom roofing contract when Bama signed him.

One of the things that any school can figure out is how to give money to the street agents. The "trainers" and 7x7 coaches and the like. That shit is as old as most of these recruits now. When Lupoi bought Waddle, Slick Willie or one of his running buddies, can't remember, picked up $80k.

That didn't prevent ATM from making a run at Waddle on signing day for significantly more than that, but to no avail.  To answer the inevitable question that pops up frequently on this board following that kind of info, what prevents most of these guys from flipping somewhere for more money at the last minute is that they want to get paid for the next guy too. Letting a kid flip for more money is bad for business. Georgia took Pickens from Auburn on signing day for something like doubling the price or some shit. I guess that guy wound up saying, "fuck it, I'll just never work with the staff at Auburn again." Can't do that more than once, I'd imagine.

You want to see who is serious about dropping dollars right now? Watch who wins the battles tomorrow for the highest remaining guys. ATM has locked up several of them already. Another fun test will be to watch that To'o To'o fuck from Tennessee. He auctioned himself the first time and is part of the Tennessee cheating shit, and he's looking to get paid again. If USC wants him, they're going to have to outhustle Bama for him.

Maybe I'm missing something but I thought the only reason Tennessee was in trouble was because the school hurt itself by voluntarily airing out all the dirty laundry to try and get out of paying Pruitt's buyout. Not because of any investigative sleuthing the NCAA was doing.

By that token, Georgia will never see the same punishment unless Kirby reaches similar levels of ineptitude and the powers that be at jawja want him out ASAP. Tennessee's squealing on itself, not on other schools.

Not really sure about all that, but Dan Patrick called the Utenn stuff months ago and said he heard Georgia is next.

People won't care for the NIL right now.. they have been wanting this game for so long they will take generic names and images and run with it

exactly, then they have all the development teams and infrastructure in place to add in the likenesses for NCAA 22 and get even bigger hype and sales

I mean the best part of NCAA was the recruiting and program building, the names didn't fucking matter after 2 seaons

With the (almost certain) inclusion of microtransactions, think of how realistic they'll be able to make recruiting this time around. "To increase your chances of signing this prospect, please buy x dollars worth of virtual currency"

Don’t forget that all they have to do is allow custom rosters and then allow “someone” to create an unofficial full NCAA roster and poof, done.

The real question will be how they deal with overall player values per team if there is no likeness’s being used. Will it be by position groups overall “score” from current rosters and then go from there?

That would be incredible and a straight up kick to the nuts to the NCAA.

Easy fix. Just program the game to hit you with a bowl ban if you spend too much VC.

Idk if they ever updated it, but recruiting was always strange in the older games. You had a slider you had to max out before competing schools, and there were no decommitments.

This.  EA knows a full up to date roster download will be done by the next morning within the community.

Fuck off, Rovell. You have no idea.

Of course they don't plan to use image or likeness right now. There's also no release date yet. They've committed to "making the game" and that's about it. there is no doubt that cfb players will be compensated for their inclusion in the game. How they are included is what is left to figure out, and the current models being discussed are all good for Texas.

Frankly, EA can't afford not to make the game anymore. The amount of money flowing from schools through EA will be truly wild.

Boosters/UT admin can pay EA Sports to make the Texas recruits/players higher rated?

One of the common themes among mechanisms for delivering player content is EA doesn't want to be involved in valuing a player's likeness which means there probably won't be a player on the cover anymore. They are very interested in agreements with institutions that value what their players in the game will make. Now, whether these will be private or public agreements is up to the NCAA.

If this is the path forward, schools like Texas show up with numbers that other schools cannot. Idk about ratings within the game, that hasn't been discussed with any credibility afaik

Approximately 80% of EA's business is done via digital download now so who is on the cover is largely irrelevant.  Either they can customize the "cover" to whomever downloads it or they'll have something generic.  Marketing is what it is, they'll figure something out.

Another angle to consider though is the eSports aspect.  EA has gone big into Madden and FIFA eSports.  This will naturally follow I suspect.

They have only used players that are no longer eligible for college sports on the cover. Interesting point for future recruiting pitches.. “we can get you on the cover by sophomore year”. To your point, I don’t see that working out.

If Texas were smart, they’d pay EA to put Sark on the cover.
