Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

Article on Ewers.

What was his favorite college team as a kid?

"The University of Texas," Ewers said. "My father and his family loved Texas. My mom's side of the family is from Oklahoma and they like OU, so it's always been like a grudge there."

Thanks for this. Off the top of my head Keithian (Bear) Alexander, Bryce Anderson, and Jacoby Matthews also all have UT offers.

8 catches for 137 yds? Must have some desirable measurables

Florida and Ole Miss offers, and all the 995ers have been really hyping him up (4 stars on 247). Of course, they do that for any skill position guy with a pulse at the big DFW schools.

Herman is such a fucking size queen. Your entire WR corps does not need to be 6'4+ with one at 6'1 or smaller. Literally, opposite.

NFL has the same mentality.. it's beginning to change but they still prefer the 6'4 ones

NFL Draft 2020: First round receivers

13) Ruggs - 5'11

16) Jeudy - 6'1

18) Lamb - 6'2

21) Reagor - 5'11

22) Jefferson - 6'1

25) Aiyuk - 6'0

Yup. Not to state the overly obvious, but there's still a preference for the freak huge guys who possess the same change of direction/movement skills as their smaller counterparts (basically saying if Julio and Antonio Brown were both 21 and normal human beings, I'd anticipate Julio to be picked before AB). But over the past ~5 years, there's been a pretty clear shift in preference toward the smaller guys who can scoot over the big guys if you're choosing between the two options.

I thought the size queen thing at Texas was attributable to Mehringer, but maybe it's coming from the top? It's obviously difficult to attract that level of talent, but Bama's 2019 unit should be the template, imo.
