In my day I recall someone driving through the glasses store at Guadalupe and maybe 24th?  Seems like it was before the rice game and maybe a mike Adam’s involvement. Maybe a Pinckney?  Or that could all be bullshit to justify the loss (Which can’t be done). Any one else have this memory?

It was Adams plowing into a camera store.

negative recruiting by espn too, man I fuckin hate the SEC.

At least penishead set the record straight when Heather believed FUPM's "resigned" narrative he spread around at ESPN. Not sure Mack isn't more to blame for the neg perception of UT's program than Pawl.

Texas commit Jaydon Blue talks Austin visit, commitment status

Mike Roach

ARLINGTON, Texas — Jaydon Blue has been quiet over the last few months. While the four-star Texas commit made news by opting out of his senior season, his commitment remains firm. Blue took his official visit to Austin a few weeks ago and he said UT felt like the right place for him.

“It went good,” he said. “It felt good being out there in Austin and it really felt like home. It was fun getting to be with some of my future teammates.”

Blue was able to spend some time with his fellow commits while on the trip. Blue said he enjoyed bonding with them and spending time with a few of the players on the roster.

“It was fun,” he said. “We did a lot of fun stuff. We went out and had a good time with a bunch of the UT players.”

Blue was also able to spend time with Texas running back coach Stan Drayton. The two have a long relationship going back to Blue’s time in junior high.

“We are really close,” he said. “He’s been there since he offered me sophomore year. Even before that, I went to a camp in eighth grade, and we started building our bond there. We are really tight.”

Blue had been to Austin several times before, but he was able to get an up-close look at some of the new facilities.

“I got to see the facility and stuff,” he said. “There are some parts I’ve never seen they are building that I think will be super cool. It was a really cool experience.”

Blue made an early commitment and never really wavered. Though several other commits took visits, Blue said he doesn’t plan to see any other schools.

“Texas is going to be the only school I visit,” he said. “I’m pretty much locked in so no point in me going to visit anywhere else.”

At 5-foot-11.5, 205 pounds, Blue is ranked as the No. 8 running back in the nation and No. 21 overall prospect in Texas, according to 247Sports Composite.

3rd eye photography rings a bell.

I thought is was one of those Fox Photo drive thru booths? Eh, I'm probably just mixing up Mike Adams with the Libyans in Back to the Future. No Satya.

So I am getting irritated when I keep reading about Jumbo getting personally involved with x recruit.  Is the reasonable deduction here that Sark is not getting involved?  If he is not then why the fuck not on these recruits that could make or break a class?  Since I choose to believe that that can’t be the case, it is a bullshit line from the 995ers.  Another possibility could be that Sark is involved but just not as effective as Jimbo.

in all scenarios i am not gruntled.

It is bullshit.  Jimbo getting involved is just to calm the masses and let them know that 1. the recruit is important and 2. that all of my subscribers should not get their panties in a wad because Jimbo is on the case.

They can then slide the knotted panties into their sphincter once the recruit goes somewhere else despite Jimbo's personal relationship.

Marcus Scott II  - DB Conroe, changed his commitment from LSU to Mizzou last month. At one point he was the only LSU commit from Texas. There was some chatter that maybe that might not be a firm commitment and he might be looking at Texas.

Anybody else hear anything?

LSU cut him loose, no offer from us. No ex-LSU commit is off the radar, so he's probably just in the backup plan folder right now.

guess he got processed?

edit: it was a straight flip, no decommit as far as i can tell.

The Athletic: National recruiting big board: The 10 most impactful uncommitted 2022 prospects

Relevant bits:

Quote

1. CB Denver Harris

The particulars: Five-star prospect from Houston North Shore
Ranking: No. 8 overall, No. 3 cornerback (247Sports Composite)

The buzz: The 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback visited Texas, Alabama, Texas A&M and LSU in June and seems close to making a decision. Harris is the type of prospect Alabama has typically been landing in previous cycles, but the two in-state schools seem solidly positioned in this recruitment. Yes, this is interesting because any Texas vs. Texas A&M recruiting battle is fun to watch, but really this is about the Texas schools preventing the Crimson Tide from stealing the best prospects in the Lone Star State. Alabama signed two of the top five players in Texas in the 2021 recruiting cycle — offensive tackle Tommy Brockermeyer (No. 1) and running back Camar Wheaton (No. 5). For Texas to be “back” or for Texas A&M to beat the Crimson Tide on the field, that needs to change.

8. WR Evan Stewart

The particulars: Five-star prospect from Frisco (Texas) Liberty
Ranking: No. 35 overall, No. 4 wide receiver

The buzz: Stewart once felt he had everything figured out when he committed to Texas on Feb. 18. But that pledge lasted less than a month, as he decommitted from the Longhorns on March 11. Texas is still in the hunt, though, which is really important since Steve Sarkisian and his staff want to keep as many in-state prospects at home. Same goes for Texas A&M. Stewart visited Florida, Texas A&M, Texas, Alabama and LSU, the usual suspects for top-rated prospects in the Lone Star State. Texas is also heavily involved with Harris and five-star offensive lineman Devon Campbell of Arlington (Texas) Bowie. If the Longhorns land all three, that could mean a top-five class for Sarkisian in his first full cycle. But Alabama is involved, and we know how that story ends more often than not.

National recruiting big board: The 10 most impactful uncommitted 2022 prospects

Conerly.jpg
By Ari Wasserman Jul 8, 2021 comment-icon.png 11 save-icon.png

It didn’t occur until July, but five-star prospect J.T. Tuimoloau of Sammamish (Wash.) Eastside Catholic finally announced his decision to sign with Ohio State. So even though the focus has been on the Class of 2022 for months, we can finally turn the page — completely — on the 2021 class.

More than 500 players have committed since the beginning of June, but there are still plenty of program-changing prospects who have yet to pick a school. And those are the players we will focus on.

This is a list of whom we consider the most “impactful” uncommitted prospects. “Impactful” can mean a lot of things, from importance to a specific school, a big regional recruit, a trendsetter or simply a prospect who has an interesting recruitment. As players commit and the landscape changes, this list will change, too.

Let’s continue with the July edition of the national recruiting big board. Click here for the June edition.

2. OT Josh Conerly Jr.

The particulars: Five-star prospect from Seattle Rainier Beach
Ranking: No. 17 overall, No. 3 offensive tackle

The buzz: When Tuimoloau came off the board and committed to Ohio State on Sunday, it became official that Washington missed on two of the three top-10 national prospects in the 2021 cycle from the Seattle area. That was a huge missed opportunity. But Washington has a chance to bounce back with Conerly, another five-star in its backyard. Early returns are good, too. The Huskies received a Crystal Ball projection for Conerly on Tuesday. That’s positive, but they have to close on this prospect. It’s not often a program will have four five-star prospects so close in two years. Coming away with only one would be devastating. Even if Washington is trending in this recruitment, it will still be a tough battle given Conerly is also considering Alabama, Michigan, Oklahoma, Oregon and Texas.

Last month’s ranking: 3

3. DE Dani Dennis-Sutton

The particulars: Four-star prospect from Owings Mills (Md.) McDonogh School
Ranking: No. 64 overall, No. 10 defensive lineman

The buzz: Penn State has been making some noise in the 2022 class. It recently earned a commitment from four-star Nicholas Singleton of Reading (Pa.) Governor Mifflin, the No. 98 overall player and the No. 6 running back in the nation. Pennsylvania is obviously the focal point for Penn State recruiting, but Maryland is also an important territory for James Franklin and his staff. And that’s why Dennis-Sutton is such a key target, and the Nittany Lions seem to be well positioned ahead of his July 22 announcement. Alabama and Georgia are also involved, but Penn State could really put an exclamation point on its class with this commitment.

Last month’s ranking: 4

4. QB Zion Turner

The particulars: Four-star prospect from Fort Lauderdale (Fla.) St. Thomas Aquinas
Ranking: No. 356 overall, No. 25

The buzz: Recruiting the quarterback position is unique because programs usually take only one per class, and the top 24 QBs in the 2022 cycle have all issued commitments. Turner, as the top-rated uncommitted quarterback, is seeing his value inflated a bit. According to his 247Sports profile, Turner is most interested in Texas A&M and West Virginia, but both programs have quarterbacks committed in the 2022 class. Turner’s value will continue to increase because of the scarcity at that position during the summer.

Last month’s ranking: NR

5. WR Tetairoa McMillan

The particulars: Four-star prospect from Anaheim (Calif.) Servite
Ranking: No. 67 overall, No. 7 wide receiver

The buzz: McMillan took a visit to Arizona last month and is now closely considering the Wildcats, who have a legitimate chance of landing three solid prospects from Servite High in Anaheim (quarterback Noah Fifita has already committed and tight end Keyan Burnett is very interested). First-year coach Jedd Fisch has made a positive impact in a short amount of time, and nothing would be more impressive than stealing McMillan away from USC. After a dominating recruiting cycle in Southern California in 2021, USC is back at it in the 2022 cycle. The Trojans already have a commitment from five-star prospect Domani Jackson of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei, the No. 4 overall player and the No. 2 cornerback in the country, though they undoubtedly have some work to do to keep him. McMillan is also considering Stanford and Oregon, but this is Arizona’s chance to make a statement.

Last month’s ranking: 7

6. DT Walter Nolen

The particulars: Five-star prospect from Cordova (Tenn.) St. Benedict at Auburndale
Ranking: No. 2 overall, No. 1 defensive tackle

The buzz: Nolen is this year’s version of Tuimoloau, the type of prospect who can alter an entire offensive game plan all by himself. Given he’s in Tennessee, you can bet the Volunteers would do anything to keep him at home, but it seems as though they are going to fall short in this battle. Nolen is coming off a series of visits to Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Alabama. Michigan appears to be in really good shape, a great sign for the Wolverines as they try to add elite talent to keep pace with rival Ohio State. It seemed for a while that Nolen was close to making a decision, so his recruitment is definitely worth tracking.

Last month’s ranking: 6

7. OLB Daniel Martin

The particulars: Four-star prospect from Marietta (Ga.) High
Ranking: No. 184 overall, No. 18 linebacker

The buzz: Martin is a legit prospect, which is proved by the rare Clemson offer. But what makes him interesting is that he took an official visit to Vanderbilt and came away really impressed. The Commodores, led by first-year head coach Clark Lea and recruiting coordinator Barton Simmons, are trying to change things in Nashville. Their view is that they’ll have to do it with player development before making big splashes on the recruiting trail, but this certainly would qualify as a splash. Martin is also considering Oregon and Florida State, too, and never underestimate Georgia with Peach State prospects. But look at Vanderbilt making moves. It’s fun to watch.

Last month’s ranking: 9

Last month’s ranking: 8

9. DL Omari Abor

The particulars: Five-star prospect from Duncanville (Texas) High
Ranking: No. 23 overall, No. 5 defensive lineman

The buzz: Oklahoma just picked up perhaps its most significant commitment of the 2022 class when four-star defensive lineman Derrick Moore of Baltimore St. Frances Academy picked the Sooners on Sunday. Moore is a top-100 national prospect, but the real key is that he is a stud defensive lineman — an area that needs a significant upgrade if OU hopes to break through and win a national title. Oklahoma could get another in Abor, who is also considering Alabama, LSU, Ohio State and USC. It seems as though Abor will leave the state of Texas, so this is important for Oklahoma — not only to keep Abor in the Big 12 footprint but also to add another elite-level defensive lineman in this class. Abor and Moore would form a nasty one-two punch.

Last month’s ranking: NR

10. DL Tyler Booker

The particulars: Four-star prospect from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG
Ranking: No. 42 overall, No. 5 offensive tackle

The buzz: It’s hard to gauge whether to consider players from IMG as Florida prospects or prospects from their native state. Booker is from New Jersey, but he’s in Bradenton now, and that is only about 170 miles from the University of Florida. Dan Mullen and the Gators reached the SEC Championship Game last year and played Alabama better than anyone — including Ohio State in the national title game — but it’s going to take top-tier talent to get over the hump. Florida’s 2022 class has 10 commitments and ranks No. 24 nationally, but none of those commitments is a top-100 player. The Gators have a chance at this one and need to close, but Booker, predictably, is also considering Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and Oregon. Florida needs to win these big-time battles if it wants to contend for national titles on a consistent basis.

Last month’s ranking: NR

Committed from last month’s list: Four-star cornerback Khamauri Rogers of Lexington (Miss.) Holmes County to Miami; four-star running back Gavin Sawchuk of Littleton (Colo.) Valor Christian to Oklahoma.
