Texas Recruiting Notes 2022 - Idiotic Slapfights Unrelated To 2022 Recruiting

We need WR and Oline in the worse way

If we can land Thompson, Stewart at WR with Campbell and Allen on O-Line that’s a win in my book idc what rank we have.

not to mention if we can flip Hudson and Get Dewberry also.

I like the recruiting version of Penthouse Forum letters as much as the next guy, but things don’t look good on any of those fronts. Hopefully performance outweighs recruiting savvy.

Thompson is controlled by a two-bit handler that locked in the family before NIL. Small time shit. It doesn’t look like Sarkisian and company have the creativity and/or gumption to slice through that fucking gordian knot. TCU and fucking Oklahoma State can get shit done but Texas can’t.

Stewart’s dad is of the same variety and doesn’t give a shit what his son can make. Also, Texas has utterly and completely failed at NIL for this cycle and that’s irrevocable barring a fucking Bruce Wayne/Lyndon Johnson combo.

Allen, I guess I’ve stopped paying attention. Outside of the DB, I’m blanking on who another Allen is for the OL. Sounds fucking awesome if we get him though.

Campbell is the Bryce Anderson of the OL. He’s known where he wants to go for months, right? Then why the fuck are they resolute in not pulling the trigger until December? No one here should feel good about that.

If Texas can’t pay a two-bit dipshit $30k for a guy like Thompson, what makes anyone here feel like they’re going to figure out how to get shit done with fucking Dewberry?

As to Hudson, it’s the same story as 10 other guys they already lost. If they coulda, they woulda.

Maybe shit gets turned around, but negativity on this thread at this time isn’t unfounded or pessimistic. This soft west coast motherfucker and his “wait until everyone sees our results on the field” mafia better fucking go bonkers this season or we’re maybe a top 15-20 class coming in at 7-6/8-5 the way some bitches around the program are talking.

I hate that this is going to get political, but it does play its part, and I may as well throw in: just because black people largely vote democrat over republicans and conservatives, doesn't mean they're "liberal." Most of the black people I know who yes, vote democrat, don't just fall in line on all of the normal liberal issues because of that vote. Just because they vote democrat doesn't mean they want their kids running a gauntlet of tweekers on a quiet Sunday afternoon just trying to get a burger at Casino El Camino. It's not as easy as just "liberal" or "conservative," or Austin would have all of your black recruits all of the time hashtagErrybody.

That's it, that's the tweet.

Yep.  Where are the best players playing?  The SEC.  How many of those cities are actually liberal?  Austin's liberalness is not a plus or minus.

Man, I don't want to make this too political, but I am probably the best person to say this to you but.....
Did you forget what color football players are and what is the overwhelming voting trend of that particular demographic? The last thing these moms are going to be worried about is something being too liberal. When my brother went to Aggy, my mom was specifically worried about College Station and how my brother would be treated there. That was not the case for me. I hate to break it to you. Austin was always "Texas Liberal". It's just you didn't notice that when you were an idealistic kid yourself, but it was, and each generation pushes it a little further and further along. It's just that we are the olds now, and have long since hit the wall on our comfort level. Rest assured though, Austin IS NOT Cali. It has a long way to go to even be close.

I dont venture into CR and try to avoid most political stuff on other subs, but it's a fallacy to equate voting tendencies with someone agreeing with all policies of the left or right..especially when it comes to the extreme of each ideology.

Let's address all of these at the same time.

While you guys are correct on not being aligned with all left wing agendas, black parents are far more worried about police stops and false accusations than they are about homeless people and liberal ideology. SEC area Black People are different than other Black People. That is the poorest area in the country. So when coach so and so from "the big University right close to the house" comes calling, you are gonna let your kid go there so you can go see them. Your world of segregation and such is what you know, and so it's not going to bother you much sending your kid to a school like that. However, a Black Family from Dallas or Houston isn't as comfortable with it. I can attest to that fact being Black Myself and all.

Parents are going to weigh the options. If you do not think that's a large part of why Texas CONSISTENTLY outrecruited Aggy then you are fooling yourself. However, now the Aggies can hang SEC over our heads to steal recruits that would usually choose us. Go look at their recruiting rankings before and after they joined, and the huge uptick they got. Kids are going to choose the best avenue to the pros first, and then location second. So when all things are equal location is going to win out. It's why guys like VY choose UT over Aggy, even though it would be a closer school. Dickerson? Sealy is an hour away from Aggy, and clearly Aggy was ready to spend just as much to get him, but he chose Dallas instead.

You guys will see what I am saying is true. Unless Aggy wins a Natty before we officially get into the SEC or NIL continues to be fucked, the recruiting will tilt back in our favor. Also, if you remember, it wasn't that long ago the best players from SEC land were coming from HBCU's.

I overall get what you're saying, and don't entirely disagree. I was more coming from the angle of what the sell is against Austin, and that I don't feel black voters, or black people in general, are favorable toward a lot of the more liberal stuff just because they vote democrat.

Obviously, looking at the two places from afar (Austin vs. Collie), there's no question Austin would have the appearance of being far more progressive toward racial equality issues.

I'm satisfied with the discussion. I'm good with my branch of it ending it here. Good points.

Maybe. But that isn't really relevant when you're measuring why something is fucking 20 to 50 times fucking stupider than it needs to be...for example, taking a rock hammer to my dick and balls probably isn't a fatal injury. But it's stupid and painful, will require some amount of recover time and is completely unnecessary.

That's the most accurate metaphor I can think of regarding Texas Football for the past 12 years.

It all feels a bit dramatic when so much can change over the next 3-4 months.

Perhaps, but I think you're not keeping 2 things in perspective:

1.) The creation of a death star NIL program takes time, possibly years if done right, and while failing at the small shit this cycle while not addressing the larger long term things at all, it is yet another step backwards while everyone else is moving forward aggressively. We'll be planting out tree a few years from now when other programs already have healthy saplings.
2.) Sure, Sark could be a coaching wizard and we string off a fuck ton of wins this fall. But the fact that we're forcing ourselves into that Lightning In A Bottle situation to HAVE to happen is unnecessary. We could be positioning ourselves better and are not, and without that amazing performance we're looking down the barrel of 3 sub-par recruiting classes. Again, that's a hole that takes time to dig out of...

It's not that we can't recover. It's not that we wont. It's just that we love to go out of our way making it harder than necessary and ensuring it will take longer than necessary.

If anyone has a spare $30k laying around I volunteer to stuff it in a fast food bag and drop it off to the appropriate individual free of charge.

If we don't have people paying that little bit of money for a recruit then how the fuck do they expect us to compete vs the better recruits and programs more in line with winning than we are?

No argument from me if I had the means I'd be buying up all the recruits on behalf of Texas

Thank God for Bo Davis. Even if we don’t land Finkley, Davis is doing work.

This is the recruiting thread. The only consistency is change. I sure as fuck hope things are better in 4 months. I don’t want to see posters I generally like attempting to rationalize shitty takes that will eventually have to play.

Shit, maybe Banks is dropping banks. Or crypto. Doubtful. They’re committing because someone is dropping something in their lap though.

You'll probably be proven right. I'm just skeptical of anyone's ability to predict what's going to happen with any degree of certainty because things are always changing. None of us knew we were moving to the SEC, and it happened in a week's time. If that's where leaderships' heads are at, i'm hopeful their desire to compete will remove obstacles going forward. This is how I cope.
