Per Gerry Hamilton:

Texas staff members expected by Tyler Junior College this week to see LB Xavier Benson (Pleasant Grove, Texas/TJC).

An offer, and OV set up would be the next steps after that coach visit this week.

Interesting guy that battled depression and worked his way back.

IT's resident North Shore insider mentioned that Davis, Banks and Sark were going to do an in-home visit with Denver Harris. Not a great sign when the position coach isn't actively recruiting his own position.

Or maybe we’ll have a different CB coach next season…

Exactly. It could mean that only Urban Meyer going to LSU would pry him away from Texas. It works both ways. It also makes sense.

Yeah, that's why I asked about the previous post that shared concerns about a lack of interest Neto might have in playing football.
This roster needs leadership, passion, heart, grit and talent from guys who love playing football -- not players that are more interested in just being on the team and wearing UT gear.
Spoiler

Another team source said Tyler Johnson, a four-star recruit in UT’s 2019 class, was content to be a part of the team and wear the UT gear around campus and down on Sixth Street, but “had other interests and just lacked the want-to to be great. Had the physical tools. Just didn’t want it badly enough.”
"Johnson never exhibited the urgency and intensity offensive coordinator Kyle Flood was looking for, according to a source."
Also From Last Week:   "Johnson, however, hasn’t been practicing or traveling with the team for the past three weeks, a source told Horns247. Depending on who you talk to, Johnson is either suspended from the team or simply done with football at Texas (or both), although his name hasn’t surfaced yet in the transfer portal."

What does recruit considering a potential changing change have to do with his interest or effort level? Huge stretch.

I don’t see how it implies anything either way, except that certain coaching changes could affect his opinion on a school, positively or negatively.

The way it was worded implies the school he wants to commit to might not take him in the event of a coaching change. That’s not Texas. I don’t want to parse words too much, and you’re probably right because it’s way more likely a 17 year old just phrased it awkwardly and meant what you said, but that’s how it reads

Really clenching our purses over that quote, are we? It’s coaching change season, that can affect any school at any time. Dude is acknowledging that because he isn’t an idiot.

He takes good angles, has pretty good closing speed, and gets off blocks. He could start for us right now.

Has an Oklahoma State offer at least. They seem to find pesky effective college LBs at a pretty decent rate in recent years

I think that is a great sign. It likely means we are getting rid of Joseph.

Started at Tech as a redshirt freshman. Opted out of the Covid year and then transferred to junior college.

I thought it had been reported Banks had taken over the recruitment of Harris.

Yeah but to not even have your position coach show up on final visit is odd

Justin Wells ofc thinks he'll start next year.

Probably a hint of expected staff turnover.

Posted this in the coaching staff changes thread but it is relevant here also; Mickey Joseph (LSU WR coach and god tier recruiter) is bailing for Nebraska where he played college ball. Might put Shaz Preston back in play depending on the LSU hire. Haven't heard that name much since the collapse began but afaik we were still running second... just very far behind LSU.

Shazz is most likely Bama bound

Please. Justin Wells seems like a nice guy but he spent all last off-season telling us how great the players on this team were.

Gerry Hamilton

Kam Dewberry (Humble/Atascocita) is scheduled to have in-home visits this week with three schools. Texas A&M Tuesday (likely Jimbo Fisher), Texas Thursday (Flood and other assitant) and LSU Wednesday.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian will make his in home next week.

Oklahoma has not scheduled an in-home visit this week, to this point.

We will get last in home, seems positive.

Lmao god damn it this is outstanding

Kind of implies not Texas, neither Sark nor Flood is going anywhere. LSU is the one looking at a changing change, with OU and A&M sort of caught up in that.

That's what it read like to me as well.

Same.  Doesn’t seem like a good update for us. Hopefully we are just reading too much into it

I think he is just acknowledging that one or more of his finalists have head coach and/or position coach insecurity at this time, and that if a change does happen after his commitment it could change his decision.  Sound reasoning.

I think Sark needs to make another hard run at Simmons. Maybe he’d be more comfortable in Austin than LA.

USC only has 8 commits, Riley’s going to try to take dang near everyone with him I’d imagine.

LA might be too far for some of them though

Holy shit. Lincoln not built for this SEC grind. Running to LA where he’s got 2 schools to worry about most years.

Maybe he felt his welcome wearing out in Norman.

Half of them practically are from LA
