Don’t waste your time. You’re arguing with a guy who smugly thinks he knew more about Allende than Rimbo even though Rimbo focused an entire semester on the Pinochet coup and couldn’t counter what he was saying

Ha. I posted you an in depth history of the origins of socialism and you sat totally silent and maintained your position as if no one said anything. This is literally sticking fingers in your ears, closing your eyes and saying "LALALALALALALALALA."

So I am right. You just can't stand that once again Socialism steps on it's dick and fails. Here, I will post a song that will make you feel better.

OK...We will let the Honorable Surly political forum be the judge. Personally I think you lost this one.

But, hey love you anyways...

I care about starving people. Ethiopians in the 80s and Venezuelans now. You can now wax poetic about no one understanding what socialism really is except for you.

You care about the Yemenis, do you?

Yes, the USA. Medicare and Social Security are examples of socialist policy. So are public schools.

Yes those are examples of a Socialist programs in the USA. But would you consider the USA a socialist country? Yes, we aspire to help out our fellow man. Unemployment Insurance would be another example. But as a whole the USA is definitely not a Socialist country. The main driving engine of this country is capitalism. If you don't believe me go hang on 60 Wall Street on a Monday morning.

Does the Social Security system survive because of socialism or does Wall Street and Capitalism allow us to do social programs that would not be possible without the money? I think it is the later.

Mixed economies, how do they work?

No one has ever advocated doing one without the other. Not in a democracy, anyway.

Tell what industries in  the USA are completely owned by the Government? Even the Military vendors are separate from the government. When Venezuela took control of Citgo and controlled that company it was the death  nail for them.

None, and no one is advocating for that, as far as I can tell, but tell me about Pemex?

Maybe they should before they back it? Is this another "We have to pass it, so we can read it" deal.

I think it's the sense of funeral bells. It'd be cooler if we still pronounced the "k", and cooler still if the world had more ACDC in it.

Can't help the first part, but the second?

I appreciate that RD. I won't forget.

But In the meantime we should not forget what this thread is and why we came here to post in this thread.

I respect the rights of citizens to rise up and throw out the fuckers that are oppressing them. Any where any time. If it happens here In the USA  Stand up and be proud

edit: getting your feelings hurt is not a reason to overthrow a government. Sack up.

I’ve done business with PEMEX before and that is the worst run business I have ever seen. Complete incompetence at all levels.

Outside of healthcare, Canada isn’t anymore socialist than the US is, even if they are as a whole way more liberal. Plus,  Canada’s healthcare sucks, even if it is “available” for anyone.

That why Rand Paul went to Canada for surgery? Cause he is only comfortable around things that suck like him?

No, Canada’s healthcare is about like ours, except with better aggregate outcomes, for about 2/3 the cost per person, and half what we spend on administration.

Sure when you can actually get the appointment. Sometimes it can take months to see a doctor if at all. Then there’s the actual healthcare that’s received: there is a reason why the good Canadian educated doctors move to the US ($$$).

I suppose the pope flies to Canada when he needs medical attention right?

Is this anecdotal or verified fact on a systemic scale ?

Anecdotal on why the good doctors leave. Half of my dad’s graduating medical class in Canada at one of the best medical schools in Ontario left and practice in the US due to money. Granted this was in the 70’s, not sure if there has been changes in that since.

Reports on availability of healthcare there I’m sure is on the interwebs somewhere. Have you ever spent time there and needed healthcare or have family that does? I can tell you from personal experience and from my family, it’s a joke.

Here’s an article from that liberal rag, Business Insider.  We rank 27th.

My wife, a surgeon, says that Canada does two things well in its health care system. One, it covers preventative medicine way more than we do, and that saves lots of costs downstream. Second, they stop care much sooner for terminal illness, which saves a TON of $. On the flip side, they do not cover catastrophic events/diagnoses. There are Canadians who have curable illness but the treatment is expensive, and they are hosed.

You don't like people pointing out another example of a failed political doctrine that you espouse to? OK. I get that but, bugger off some where else and spew that shit. You are wrong here.

Go collect yourself and get in "happy or safe space" and return to fight another day. Jesus, what a douchebag you are.

Edit: You don't have to neg every post I make. I get it. You and I disagree. I don't do that to you or anyone else I disagree with on this site.

He’s arguing about how much he loathes his own country

All right, so we might be successfully kicking off a civil war in Venezuela through economic strangulation and forcing unnecessary conflict via dramatic political humanitarian aid farces... what's the outcome you hawks predict? Think 6 months into the future, if you're actually capable of any kind of creative thought, and tell us what the outcome is going to be.

You can't. It's the same as with every other "MY GOD YOU  MONSTER HOW CAN YOU SUPPORT THE EXISTING HORRIBLE CONDITIONS!?!?!" intervention that left things worse than we found them. Iraq. Afghanistan. Lybia. Syria. and that's just some of the most recent.

I'd love to hear the game theory.

Pics of surgeon wife?

My fiancée, a radiation oncologist, said that Canada has one of the top cancer research centers in the world in Princess Margaret in Toronto. They're often compared to MD Anderson and Sloan Kettering.

I’m just hoping that the daughter of Hugo Chavez can survive all of this turmoil with what little money she has been able to save.

$4,000,000,000

Commie dictators and their families do well. I read that in Venezuela’s budget a few years back Maduro had allocated $1,800,000 per day for his expenses.

The rich want to get richer. Helping those in power gain entry into the elite is one way to do that.

Yeah, don’t really care what you think.

it is nice to see Castro’s grandson all over Miami, and Spain flashing his fabulous wealth all over the Internet. Grandpa Fidel was worth, what, about $2,000,000,000?

Another good Commie.
