I guarantee most of those people don't have children in that system. Hell, I'd bet a lot of them don't live in the area at all.

Loudoun Country went for Biden by 24 points. I'm sure they have their bigots, and they might be loud, but they are not the majority.

That's some grassroots/populism Astroturfed movement gaining traction and that is whiter than mayonnaise. It's like the counterbalance to the BLM summer '20. Ebbs and flows, I guess, the pendulum swings and the bell tolls for thee.

@Js1, y'all learned me something new today re: "astroturf" as a political play. Never heard of that until today.

lmao next you'll tell me about this amazing new website that searches the entire internet, all in one place!

Give me a fucking break man, nobody can be this clueless. Astroturfing has been a term of art in the political and advertising space for decades.

Two vocations and markets that are way above my pea-brained pay grade and of which I have little to no experience and exposure. Sorry for being an ignorant hillbilly who learned something new today.

This is what radical Republicans want, and they are using CRT as a means to get there, even if it’s 100% clear they are purposely misinforming others on what CRT us and is not:

Yeah, just because these are desperate attempts to hold onto power doesn’t make them less harmful.

However, I remain skeptical of the CRT gambit being run by republicans because they often get into shit like this without really thinking it through. They are banking on a certain responses from certain people:  rile up their base, trigger the libs, control the narratives in media spaces... but having open discussions about critical race theory leads to shit like what happened with the general yesterday.  I’m not sure how long they can keep the charade going before they’re force to manufacture the next outrage.

Jesus, it’s like they’re trying to out-stupid each other. Is, “I don’t know yet, that’s why I’m trying to get an education,” an acceptable answer? Dumbfuck.

Feels like it'll be tied up in courts for a bit.  Could be a landmark SCOTUS case in a year or two regarding defunding education for teaching political viewpoints.

This SCOTUS will uphold this.

The violence is growing and growing in a different way. How white people control space is a lot different than how minorities are 'allowed' to control space.

This is up close and personal and those folks easily outnumbered the law enforcement. What happens in a locale where people come armed? What happens if LEOs are sympathetic? They are testing the boundaries and it is all based on propaganda and lies. Dangerous territory. The difference between a police officer kneeling on someone's neck, two guys shooting an unarmed jogger, a boy playing with a toy weapon, and a school district training teachers to be sensitive to the unique perspectives of their students has these parents screaming. What will happen if other parents show up to counter protest?

Based on what was discussed in the other threads regarding General Milley and Trump, do you think Trump would've said 'can't we just shoot them?' about these folks?

I think we know the answer.

White people just cannot accept the fact that they are beneficiaries of an inequitable racial hierarchy. It really bothers them to know that.

Well, I suppose it should, should it not?

That it does bother people seems to reflect a degree of conscience in those people.

The question then becomes, what do you do with that discomfort?  Bury it, or do something about it.  And if you do something, what, exactly do you do?

The oddball thing is, I think most people's natural reaction is to want to do something.  It takes some external influence to absolve people of that reaction.

White supremacy never left.

But open and proud white supremacy, well, it’s comeback time, baby! I’m dead serious. It’s roaring back, proudly. It’s only going to get worse, because they’ve riled up the idiots with fear.

I think the people have always been afraid. Afraid of getting to know someone who is 'different' in their eyes, afraid of competition if the obstacles are removed and past wrongs addressed. It's the fear that oppressors have worldwide and have throughout history. Hell, JK Rowling made millions writing about it in fantasy form. The rightwing that loves power and bully tactics to enrich themselves at others' expense and they've held that fear for a very long time. The leaders knew this was a weapon in their arsenal but yes, they've allied with the fascists and other groups and it's going to be awful. Avenging Christian nationalists, far right white power fascists, and regular old supremacists make for an ugly mix.

So, the GOP have released the Death Eaters and the dementors and it's time to find strength and stand up to them.

Have we identified any school that had one minute of critical race theory taught in the classroom yet?

Um, yeah. Swam's best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy on surly, who knows this kid who's going with a girl who heard that some school made the kids feel guilty about their status in the cast system. I guess it's pretty serious.

Hence the drive to ban teaching CRT, the 1619 Project, and knowledge of our racist history more generally. The Republicans know that the more white America is able to comprehend the structural problems, the more most white people will want to do something to address them. Republicans want to keep white America stupid so it's easier to keep white America hateful.

I saw a professor from Ohio University on CBS News who said he’s been teaching CRT for 15 years.

Right. In college. Not in elementary schools.

And all of that said, when we teach our middle school or high school kids about the civil war….could we maybe actually tell them the ACTUAL reasons Texas seceded, as plainly stated in the declaration of secession, instead of some soft-sell bullshit about “states rights?” And when we mention how awesome the GI bill, maybe we mention that it was offered to WHITE soldiers…you know, can we say the TRUTH? Because that’s what scares the blue fuck out of the “no CRT!” Crowd.

funny you should mention that....

Donald Trump Reportedly Wanted Military To ‘Beat The Fuck’ Out Of George Floyd Protesters

Former President Donald Trump wanted a violent military response to civil rights protesters who took to the streets following the police killing of George Floyd last year, according to a new book.

Trump reportedly told advisers that he wanted soldiers to “beat the fuck” out of the mostly peaceful demonstrators, according to an excerpt from Wall Street Journal reporter Michael Bender’s “‘Frankly, We Did Win This Election’: The Inside Story Of How Trump Lost” that was published by CNN on Thursday.

“Just shoot them,” Trump reportedly repeatedly demanded. He is also quoted as saying he wanted to “crack their skulls.”

After some aides challenged the order, the then-president slightly softened. “Well, shoot them in the leg — or maybe the foot, but be hard on them,” he said, according to the book.

In another incident around the time of the protests, Bender reported that Gen. Mark Milley, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, told Trump’s then-senior policy adviser Stephen Miller to “shut the fuck up” after Miller claimed cities were like war zones.

Yes, that is exactly to what I was referring. I'm going to buy Bender's book about it.

I don't think anyone was surprised. I mean as @Brisketexan has been saying for over four years, the cruelty is the point, and it had already been revealed that Trump wanted to shoot (at?) southern migrants crossing the border. This man has always loved shows of aggression, symbols of power, and violence.

Just ask yourself “what would a sick fucking bully do?” And you then know what GQP policy actually is. The overlap is a single circle.

While I like your post, I'd rather my kids at elementary school be taught CRT and have CRT used in analogy rather than Harry Nerd Boy Potter. Just kidding with you!

“Conservatives” aren’t funny. They’re just mean. In order to be funny you can’t hold anything “sacred” and you have to be able to laugh at yourself. Those on the right fail on both counts.

This is from that amazing poet laureate, the muslim Nasir bin Olu Dara from New York. I feel like teaching black kids these things is super important and should be done-- especially at home.

Before we came to this country
We were kings and queens, never porch monkeys
There was empires in Africa called Kush
Timbuktu, where every race came to get books
To learn from black teachers who taught Greeks and Romans
Asian, Arabs and gave them gold, when
Gold was converted to money it all changed
Money then became empowerment for Europeans
The Persian military invaded
They heard about the gold, the teachings, and everything sacred
Africa was almost robbed naked
Slavery was money, so they began making slave ships
Egypt was the place that Alexander the Great went
He was so shocked at the mountains with black faces
Shot up they nose to impose what basically
Still goes on today, you see?
If the truth is told, the youth can grow
They'll learn to survive until they gain control
Nobody says you have to be gangstas, hoes
Read more, learn more, change the globe

Ghetto children, do your thing
Hold your head up, little man, you're a king
Young Princess when you get your wedding ring
Your man is saying "She's my Queen"
