I didn’t see the whole match. Did the 6-2 make an appearance?

6-2 made some appearances and Cabello played enough to get 12 assists and 2 aces.  Some of her sets were not clean, but Texas appeared to be toying with their lineup - Parra got some time in the front row, Cabello got a lot of sets and we were working Fields on some different approach angles from the pins and out of the backrow.

Arizona (5-1), Notre Dame (2-4), A&M (3-2) and Rice (2-3) round out our non-conference.  I'd expect some tinkering and more playing time for Parra/Cabello in these matches with more 6-2 appearances and adding in some wrinkles before conference play.

Apparently Jhenna confirmed she and Logan are returning in 22?

Jhenna, Sky, Asjia, Molly and Logan are all listed as juniors.  SKT finally was added to the roster!  I think our only losses after this year would likely be Butler and Syd.   Molly could move into the middle to replace Butler. Emma Halter (2022 L/DS) would likely play the same role as Syd with Nalani holding down the libero spot.

Outgoing: Syd, Butler
Incoming: Halter (L/DS), Singletary (MB), Miller (OH)

I think we have room for one more and Texas is holding a ship for Devyn Kahahawai from Hawaii (OH)

2022 would be a HUGE senior year sendoff for Jhenna, Skylar, Asjia, Molly and Logan all graduating in one class.  Woof.    But the talent just keeps rolling in.

Gabriel's setting is good when she doesn't have to run set...but with the way Iosia, Logan, Parra, and Petersen were passing and digging up balls tonight, her setting was trash.

This is where this team is sorely missing Morgan O'Brien - she was able to consistently dig up a ball right to target, where Gabriel didn't have to move.

This is taught, that's why we see PAC 12/BIG liberos have excellent ball control.  Jerritt teaches them to just dig a hard-driven ball up off the net (even if it puts the team out-of-system) to give the setter an opportunity to just throw it up to the left pin hitter.

That's been his system and why he needs high-flying jumpers on the left pin.

Logan was way off tonight. Also, something feels wrong with Brionne so far this season.

I read on VolleyTalk she wants to be set high but Elliot is telling Gabriel to set lower/faster.  Feels like she has gotten like 1 good set per match

Arizona is a TOP 25 team, we should hit seams more, Gabriel can only set the slide and right side well.   We should of got their setter from Georgetown.

Lauren Carlini and Micah Hancock couldn’t have set better with how shitty our first ball contact was

Texas secured a commitment from No. 11 Nya Bunton out of Kentucky for 2023. 6’2 MB

2023: S Ella Swindle (Columbia, MO); MB Nya Bunton (Louisville, KY); OPP Auburn Thomkinson (Carlsbad, CA); OH - Sydney Helmers (Louisville, KY)

We only have 1 Texan in the 22/23 classes - 2022 has Indianapolis, Charleston and Justin, TX. We are also still holding out for the OH from Hawaii.

The 2022 class has:

L/DS - Halter 5'4 (who is ranked the #1 Indiana recruit by some recruiting services)

MB - Singletary 6'4

OH - Miller 6'0

* Getting 6'3 Kahahawai would be icing on the cake. I can see her playing as a 6-rotation Opp next season, with Molly moving back to MB when Butler graduates.

Texas gained some serious height on the front line with the 2023 class:

S - Swindle 6'2

MB - Bunton 6'4 (from 2021 USA U18 training roster; Bunton has been listed anywhere from 6'2-6'5, depending on the recruiting service, but some of those services haven't updated heights from when they were ranked ~ 2 years ago.)

OPP & Lefty - Tomkinson 6'4

OH - Helmers 6'3

Notre Dame has a losing record but they beat Arizona yesterday. Hopefully we handle Notre Dame on Sunday

We should handle them easily.  Also a good chance to try some things out like we did against Texas State - more Cabello (maybe even some 5-2), more front row time for Parra, letting Molly serve. I liked that last wrinkle against Arizona.

Don't think we'll see Saige yet, but Gabriel should be feeling some heat after Friday night.  She's in year four of this and should not be having these connection issues with Bri and Logan.  How tf do you keep trap setting Logan?  Her block is going to constantly be abused, so we need Cabello to get more playing time because the defensive sub at the end of sets to get Cabello in the front row for blocking is going to be extremely important for postseason (or Saige, but she needs to get comfortable with our hitters first)

Forgot to post and laugh at #3 Nebraska blowing a 2-0 lead to Utah and losing in 5 last night.  LMAO

Baylor looks like (and remains) the scariest team on our schedule going forward, but like - we somehow don't have too much trouble with them?  They may have figured something out with their rotation of Harrison, Skinner and Pressley though, if the Florida matches are any indication.   7-1 in the last 8 matches against Baylor since 2018 (one 2-3 loss in Waco in 2019, the year they went to the Final Four)

Well, Baylor has been the Pressley show mostly.  The addition of Skinner should present a challenge.
