He told the truth about Trump’s villainy and was left hanging.

A U.S. ambassador who offered damaging testimony about then-President Donald Trump during congressional hearings in 2019 that led to Trump’s first impeachment is suing former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and the U.S. government to recover almost $1.8 million in legal fees.

Gordon Sondland, who was appointed by Trump as ambassador to the European Union and then fired after testifying against the then-president, claimed in the suit filed in U.S. District Court in Washington on Monday that Pompeo vowed that the government would pay the bills for legal advice Sondland received during the impeachment imbroglio.

LOL.  $1.8M in fees to an individual is basically proof Paul Hastings thought the US government was backstopping this.

Ive always wondered about the legal fees for nonrich people such as Vindman  Wonder how they compare or if someone helped them out.

It’s either professional liability (if covered) or out of pocket. They usually end up getting screwed, because liability often won’t cover it if you’re just testifying and not a target.
