I want to get back into building models. I was really into it as a youth and I think it would help me relax and get me away from staring at screens all day.

Any recommendations?

I'm starting completely from scratch so I need paints, blades, brushes, etc.

I’ve been thinking the same. Used to assemble and paint model planes as a kid. Now I spend a good chunk of my day checking to see what somebody on the internet thinks about something.

Already a thread somewhere on here.

Canecutter and Braff Zacklin are pretty talented, or skilled, or whatever you call it.

We prefer "Incel-American."

I built a diorama of the Battle of The Alamo that was on display in my middle school library for 20 years. Wish I had a pic.

We'll just have to remember it.

The real fun was a couple years after building a model, and you needed new space on your desk or ceiling you used an older model for target practice, and jr. pyrotechnic exercises.

Cockpit done. Over 100 stroke inducing parts

There's something to be said for the old Aurora kits from the 60s. You could build 5 complete kits before you'd reach 100 parts.

By the way, painted gauges? Respect to your cray.

In my childhood there were two HMS Hoods. The full-size one that the Bismarck sank, and the model one that my friend David blew up in the drainage ditch by the railroad tracks. I was randomly fascinated with finding that shattered model, and went after it like the treasure of Oak Island. I think maybe one turret showed up before we switched to catching crawdads.

Sure took you a while to graduate. Must have gotten a bit awkward when you were older than your teachers.
