Shows how much midweek games matter in the eyes of people who vote. You win your weekend series, you aren't falling unless a bunch of teams behind you sweep.

Eckhardt gets the ball again tomorrow against a guy with an ERA over 10.

Opposing pitcher with ERA > 10……That usually doesn’t work out too well for us.

In all seriousness, based on the numbers at least, this is not a bad club.  RPI 115 out of 301.  Hitting 0.299 with a 4.59 team ERA and a 0.965 fielding percentage.   Their best hitter is the first baseman, Pimentel, who is 0.431/9/29 with a 1.263 OPS.   They are 16-11 (6-6 WAC) with series wins against GWU, Youngstown, ACU, Lamar, and SHSU, but were swept by Tarleton.  They are 0-3 against UH and TXST and were also beaten by IWU, who as we saw is terrible.

Back up to 4 in RPI today. Pretty good spot to be with over half the season already done.

Setting ourselves up nicely to get one of those top 8 seeds. The Big 12 is weaker than usual so I think we can have a strong second half as well.

18 of last 25 at home should make for a nice stretch.

Stevens’ ERA in conference play (3 starts) is now 15.1.

Yikes.

Finally able to get a hat in my size today.  Still no Orange to be found though.

And we are tied for 5th place in the Big 12 sitting at 4-4 in conference play.   Not what I was expecting at the start of the year.   Very disappointing so far.

We have yet to play the 3 worst teams in the conference (Kansas, Kansas State and Baylor).

For reference we played those 3 teams in 3 of our first 4 conference series last year, which allowed us to get some separation early.

Sitting around waiting to play shitty teams is not exactly inspiring.

No one said we are sitting around waiting to play shitty teams. TCU and Tech in 2 of the first 3 conference series was always going to be tough. The goal every weekend is to win the series and mix in a sweep or two and you are sitting pretty. The series loss at Tech throws a wrench in that but we lost a series to them last year and were fine. We only swept 2 Big 12 series last year and still won the conference.

Win today and we are just fine.

Damn.
Pierce pisses me off. Just no fire on this guy. The more I see yhe more I just dont like him.
Need an ol fashion augie ass chewing.

Not rescue rangering Pierce here, but there wasn’t a lot of fire, from the vantage point of the fans, in Gus either.

I mean, he was like a hunched over Xanax with legs.

Oh no, there’s been a LOT of talk here about playing the weak back end of the conference schedule.

Says a lot.

Tell me how chatter among fans on a discussion board has any impact on the play on the field.

More of a 2023 comment, but it’s been impressive to see the jump Gordon has made from last year to this year and even the growth we’ve seen between each start.

Him and Witt at the top of the rotation is going to be a lot of fun next year.

Right? All we’ve done is acknowledge our schedule is front loaded

Highly, highly doubtful Witt throws an inning next year. Typically an 18-month injury.

Tommy John is pretty routine nowadays. 12 month recovery typically. Maybe they take it a little slow and don’t fully unleash him til conference play but I would bet a good amount of money he’s in the starting rotation by Big 12 play next year.

It doesn’t.

Tell me where I said that.

But you keep after those windmills bro.

Yeah, no.

Dude. You just said it’s an 18 month recovery and we literally had a player (Andre Duplantier) have Tommy John in November of 2020 and he was a full go when practice kicked off in January of 2022. That isn’t anywhere close to 18 months.
