One - Nil to The Arsenal. I’ll take it. Perhaps we could have been a bit sharper upfront to make the dominant stretches at the start of each half payoff, but the defense (outside of a potential howler one-off from Ramsdale) looked solid. Watford rarely threatened. Definitely improved over last season.
We gave the field a nine-point and -10 goal difference head start. Since…20 points from 24, level on GD, and we’re definitely on the up.
COYG!!!

Go 2-1 instead of 0-3 and we’re tied with Chelsea for the top of the table.

Not to mention we played that match with our “B team.” Ramsdale, White, Gabriel, Ödegaard, Tomiyasu, and Lacazette were unavailable that day, and Auba was still recovering and started the match as a sub.

That’s one hell of a goalline intervention. Honestly, though, my second thought was “oh shit, please don’t crack an ankle or a rib sliding into the post.”

Read somewhere that our form on the last 8 trips to Anfield: 11 goals scored, 28 conceded, last victory in 2012. Some drubbings in that mix, too. In other words, “Not Great, Bob!”

That said….this feels like the strongest side we’ve taken there in a good while. An actual centerhalf partnership. A rock at RB and a dangerous LB. Partey healthy*. ESR and Saka in solid form. Auba scoring again. A point would be a good result today. Three? Well, supporters always hope, right?

COYG!!!

*rapping furiously on my coffee table.

4-2-3-1.  Arteta’s going for it. We’ve played well recently with Lacazette in the lineup.

Come on, lads!!!!

Auba will play upfront w/ Laca behind him in the midfield.

Blown away. Again. A loss was always likely, but I was hopeful we’d at least show some progress. A 4-2, 3-2 loss…ok. But another hiding? Damn.

Frustrating 1st half but better in the 2nd. Great goal from Martinelli, what a volley. We’re going to need goals from him the rest of the season

Lets reel off another ten-match unbeaten run. Three needed points, lads, and those fuckers on Tuesday. Damn I hope Saka isn’t out for any extended period.

Utd couldn't have waited to can Ole until after today? Bastards... Saka is a possibility if he passes a fitness check.  Hate to rush him and risk aggravating his injury, because the fixture list is rather plump this month:

Nine matches between today and  NYD.

Today: Utd (A)

12/6  Everton (A)

12/11: Southampton (H)

12/15 West Ham (H)

12/18 Leeds (A)

12/21 Sunderland (H) Carabao Cup

12/26 Norwich (A)

12/28 Wolves (H)

1/1 City (H)
