Catholic Church, mass unmarked graves and Canadian Indigenous people = Burning Churches

They should direct their anger towards the appropriate symbol. The Crown has nothing to do with Roman Popery and are proudly the defender of the true faith - the Church of England.

You literally walk into open manholes, don’t you?

“At various times between 1820 and 1969, the Anglican Church of Canada administered about three dozen residential schools and hostels for Indigenous children. They were known as “Indian” and “Eskimo” Residential Schools. At its peak involvement in the late 1920s, the Church concurrently operated 24 schools situated mostly in northern regions of central and western Canada.”

Our history with this stuff is abysmal as well. We did them the favor of rescuing them from savagery by taking children from their families and tribes and sparsely funding the residential schools that would raise them to the grand level of the white man.

An account from OregonLive which confirms what I read in other sources as part of a project at work.

The old caption on this was "children playing." The picture accompanies an article claiming rampant sexual abuse. I found it haunting in its starkness.

Even now, state agencies have been ordered to review procedures which lead to a disproportionate number of children being removed from tribes under claims of inadequate care.

"Why do we have to hear about all of this again?" Because most of us don't know.

We now return to Hooray for the Red, White, and Blue.

We're not alone. England has movements to look at the truth about their empire. Imagine sifting through centuries of this shit.

Visited a Jesuit mission near Stevensville, Mont.--St. Mary's--several years back. Behind the wooden chapel lies a well-manicured cemetery.

Stone markers identify the final resting places for the men of cloth. Father Anthony Ravalli, who oversaw the chapel's construction in 1866, has not one but three markers.

The natives were given nothing but a mass grave until a large wooden cross was erected relatively recently.

All men and institutions, even those whose foundation are centered around Christ have fallen short of the Glory of God. I agree 100% with you that institutions, even the Catholic Church and the C of E, are commanded to reflect, repent, reconcile and ask for forgiveness when they fall short and it is a sin if they don’t. My comment was trying to be humorous and tongue in cheek since the offending party in this case was the Roman Catholic Church while those toppling statues chose the image of the former Supreme Governor of the C of E.
