Campbell seems like an odd choice as a grad transfer from Vandy. Not going to get you in the league, not a giant alumni base to leverage for the next part of life. Maybe they have specific program he wants?

They had a better recruiting class than some P5 schools last year. Their coach must be a charismatic dude because Bouies Creek is the middle of nowhere.

In 2018 I wrote a favorable post on Juco transfer Soni Fonua. You can find it here. https://www.on3.com/boards/threads/prospect-to-know-juco-dl-soni-fonua.54253/

Texas passed on the pursuit for what turned out to be justifiable reasons at the time and he selected LSU. Today he entered the transfer portal and has one year of eligibility remaining.

He attended the same high school as Junior Angilau and he would add a quality piece to a position lacking depth: Jack. As a Jack he wouldn’t be much of a pass rushing threat but part of that position is boxing in the run and he would be good at that.

Last year:

28 tackles
.5 sacks
6.5 TFL

It’s worth watching.

Maybe that’s what this tweet was in reference to.

Took a look on Tigerdroppings and I didn't see anything bad posted about him from the fans and they didn't really want to lose him.  Said he played some good minutes last year and always played hard.

I don’t think it’s an exaggeration to say that a solid run stopper at Jack last year may have been worth three additional wins.

That video against Florida looked like Jaggy McJagger. The guy just stands up and meets the tackle and isn’t a factor in those highlights.

Hey a JAG at edge would be a massive improvement over what we currently have. I would’ve killed for two JAGs last year.

Ok, fair point. He’s also a grad transfer so even if he is nothing but a warm body to play a few snaps there isn’t any downside I guess.

Speaking from experience - its possible he didn't graduate in 4 years...

It's possible but the timing suggests he's a grad transfer.

Aren't summer 1 classes ending? This reads like a player that had a course or two to finish in the summer and is now grad transferring.

I think you're right - athletes usually are a much more accelerated pace than average students because of summer classes.  Its possible he had one more class he had to finish up before in Summer I and is now ready to transfer.

Colin Kennedy tldr maybe it'd be cool to play in the SEC!

Spoiler

Major news has arrived late in this year's transfer portal cycle as MeanGreen247 was able to confirm North Texas linebacker KD Davis' entrance into the transfer portal.

So, what's the latest surrounding the situation?

Early reactions from North Texas program sources are largely ones of surprise as the decision was somewhat 'out of the blue'. The Mean Green expected Davis to close out his collegiate career leading their defense, but now the highly productive linebacker will be looking for a new home.

So far, the expectation is that Davis will become heavily pursued as one of the few statistically accomplished inside linebackers available in the portal. In 2021, he totaled 121 tackles, 13.0 TFLs, 5.5 sacks, two fumble recoveries (one returned for a touchdown), seven quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. As a player with positional value, clear talent, high-level production and plenty of experience, Davis is set to field several phone calls as he goes through his transfer portal process.

So, where might he go? Sources surrounding the situation seem to indicate a move to the SEC is intriguing for Davis. The opportunity to prove his abilities at the highest level of college football is attractive for a linebacker trying to realize NFL aspirations. A specific list of schools is not set, but Davis will likely aim to examine any options presented in the southeast.

Of course, other programs are expected to enter the race. The key aspect of this is the somewhat unexpected nature of the decision. As programs analyze their rosters and linebacker rooms, more names circling Davis can be expected. Up until this point, through, the continuous theme surrounding the situation is that it's too early to determine a set course of action moving forward.
