Another narrative I’ve enjoyed watching is their sudden demonization of spending money on facilities. Sure, NIL is only a few years old, and they spent over a decade jizzing all over their new facilities, and how they were the best in the country, and so much better than UT’s and proof they were the real joneses, only to turn around and blame money wasted on facilities 10 years ago as the reason their NIL can’t compete.

they’re literally chewing off the leg of their biggest point of pride in the last 10 years because it’s the only way they can escape the cognitive dissonance trap of who they are without an honest look in the mirror. “Our problem is we spent all the money on those damn facilities 10 years before NIL existed! Goddamn those T sips again and their lucky timing!”

Nevermind the money for those facilities came from a loan from the university. Nevermind in the same period of time Texas, very recently, also upgraded all of our facilities with more on the way. Nevermind that their stadium, empirically, is the actual shithole.

It’s never their fault. It’s amazing to watch.

Kyle Field has one of the nicest looking suburban Kroger Signature facades in the entire country.

So a couple of years after throwing stupid money at 4 and 5 stars to engineer the best recruiting class evahhhhhh that never did squat, they’ve decided that the secret to success, and the only missing link to their inevitable greatness is to throw stupid money at 4 and 5 stars?

On one hand, yes. On the other, they’ve also decided that since their #1 class imploded that the same thing will happen to this year’s Texas class.

I went to the game last week.  Their stadium is ok.  DKR and Bryant Denny  are just better. I was on the 2nd tier sort of above the UT band but more in the side corner than end zone.  I felt far away from most of field.  It was awesome never having to really hear the Aggie band and just got to hear Texas’ band the whole game, by the way.  (I rewatched the broadcast when I got home Sunday and was pleasantly surprised our band is all you heard during the game). Beer was a little hard to buy.  They only sold it at the main food vendors, at least on our tier.

I will say that the slovaceks Crawford Bach with cheddar was pretty good.  “Slocaceks is the official sausage of the fighting’ Texas aggies”.  Another NIL corporate behemoth for them. Watch out!

Another interesting observation is that when I had to be chummy with the apparent Aggies around us in order to offset my oldest son’s abrasive treatment of Aggies (he’s funny and biting and takes no prisoners) I found out many were Tech grads just there with their Aggie friends. But they were marooned out and sawing them off.

damn that’s crazy.  aggie sounds desperate as fuck.

1 Testicle shaming

2 Delusion

3 Copium

4 Era naming and pronouncement

In this modern era of the NIL/Portal, we all need testicles to realize we're doing nearly as well as tu in recruiting where the rankings don't matter anyway.

This is a new one and my new favorite. “Elko can’t turn over the roster in 1 season. It takes time and years.”

One of the main reasons Elko was hired (other than the fact that he was their 10th choice and stoops got Liucchied) was to maintain the 2022 roster. That was the driving behind firing Jimbo, naming the DL coach as interim, and hiring Elko, who was part of recruiting those guys. They had to keep that class.

I think there were even a few Elko quotes at the time of his hiring that were something to the effect that Aggie fans didn’t have to wait—they had the pieces now to compete. Shoot, we’ve heard the nonstop narrative (untrue) that they have the 4th best roster in all of CFB.

Now the narrative is “look at Sark—it took him time to build a roster from his 5-7 opening season.”  That has the added benefit of proving that TAMU is better than those durn sips—8-4 is so much better than 5-7.

And now some are entering the full “our roster needs to be turned over” stage in their apologetics. It’s glorious.

Exactly they needed both a coach that was going to rebuild or one that lied to them and still did the rebuild, as it stands they chose poorly and he is a year behind schedule.

CTJ, if not others as well, said in the summer that reed was looking better and fit klein’s offense better than weigman but nobody knew if elko had the balls (he obviously has the gut) to start reed over their savior wiggy.

he obviously didn’t until a couple weeks in, after weigman proved ineffective/got hurt.  I wonder if they beat Notre dame with reed and are still in the conversation for the playoffs at 9-3 if the rest of the season plays out the same way.

either way, it would seem the head coach wasn’t trusting his eyes or made a political decision.  Not a great start is he is supposed to be the guy.

Everything old is new again. Each successive failed coach of theirs has been given the grace period of "installing his system and getting his own players to replace the losers the last guy stuck us with."

Traditionalists always, the Aggies can't stop from invoking this even as they pronounce the new era of the modern era of NIL/Portal as a mercenary world where "hitting the portal hard" and "dropping NIL bags" means the old world is gone forever.

It's a study worth undertaking: how can such small minds be of two minds?

If an inexperienced Reed would have been worth 10+ against a respectable ND defense, and an experienced Reed is worth zero points against Texas, Weigman may have provided more points for Texas than Ewers and Manning combined.

He just isn’t that good, imo, but I see how he could have been effective if ND expected only Weigman.

That aside, the “we’re ready now” talk from Elko — apparently memory holed over there — along with the chest thumping about being first in the SEC (because they had an extra conference game early) has provided an especially tasty ascent of the roller coaster. I’d like to thank Missouri for their contribution to the cause.

We’re now in the “will tu have a home playoff game if Georgia wins by 40+” and “highly rated classes don’t always win” portion of the reset.

Reed’s just not very good. They’re actively trying to bring a transfer in over him. Notre Dame would have done what they and Texas did anyway.

That schedule and the mediocrity of the SEC this year really did produce a lot of smoke and mirrors for the aggies. The money is fatigued and hoping they really are “that close”.

I mean, you just summed up why they'll never get there.

To make drastic changes, you have to admit that you're very far from where you want to be.

Aggy's pride will never let them admit that they're so far off (and particularly not while we're clearly doing well) and so they find signs to cling to and believe they're "on the precipice" of something great.

Since they never admit they're far off, they're unwilling to do what they need to do to change, so they stay the same.

Rinse, repeat.

I figured that if there was any program that could have set up a large scale crowd funding for their NIL it would be A&M given the goose stepping nature of their fan base. The fact that you say they are still so reliant on big money donors seems to be very positive element in our favor given their lack of avenues for corporate NIL.

I don’t know about $10MM or $12MM for players, but I know they paid their shitty midget coach $100MM to set their program back about a deca…to where it’s always been, which is about as dumb as selling Manhattan for $24 and some beads.

This is one of my favorite aggie things ever!

This just says everything that you need to know about them.

It is truly glorious.

Who knew the Coen brothers were telegraphing exactly what would happen to the aggie football program some twenty years in the future, while absolutely nailing both the aggie character archetype + the essence of aggie absurdity in their film Intolerable Cruelty?  *spoilers below*

Spoiler

You know, the idiotic aggie oil baron who decides, on his wedding day, to nullify the prenup he got the smoking hot, recently divorced gold-digger he just met to sign…only for her to divorce him months later and *ostensibly* take a considerable amount of his fortune with her? The fact that they were able to weave in the seemingly contradictory, yet totally identifiable, nuance that Billy Bob Thornton’s character is actually just an old, washed up soap opera actor was a stroke of brilliance. It all works perfectly.

Very shrewd casting of CZ-J as the silver-tongued charlatan (Jimbo) in this prophetic interpretation. The British accent (and Welsh smoke show) works so much better on-screen than the Appalachian hillbilly irl. True visionaries those Coen bros. Hell, just like George Clooney’s character in the end, aggies are still seemingly enthralled by Jimbo’s powers of persuasion…as half of them are either pining for his return or actively boasting about the enormous sums of money he was able to grift from them. As mystically alluring as CZ-J’s timeless beauty, I suppose.

They were alone atop the SEC standings for weeks! In their last game, they could have earned a spot in the SEC Championship Game!

Think about that in what @Fletch's aggy friend said was an Aggie down year! Elko's creating a monster in College Station. Get your licks in while you can!

It is unbelievable to me that they are already talking about firing Elko. I thought they would do much worse than 8-4 given the roster turnover they had.

Not to mention, residual buyout payments for Jimbo AND Elko, and salary for a new coach, and NIL?

If memory serves, they are on the hook for $7M/yr for each of them - 5 more years for Elko, 6 for Jimbo. Oof.

Lots of bluster from them about firing The Elk so soon, I'm sure BMAs would love to pony up another 8 figures/yr to bring in yet another mid coach to continue the 8-4 turdition. Mike Stoops to the white courtesy phone?

I think that they should go for three, maybe four head coaches that they are actively paying. That would be a cool trick and would surely give them bragging rights as the bestest team doing that right?

This should be quite a ride. First, a restatement of something everybody agrees on:

Arrogant gearing up. It's sort of our thing. This guy may need a dictionary. Only ebil t.u. would prepare for a move to a different conference. Arrogance!

This guy just gets us. Doesn't sound like he's talking about the Aggies at all.

image.png.91be89b13e2089c87c47f248374832e7.png

Yes, but there's so much more, we aimed to:

image.png.f55e6970c006ed41093a39f49292dd5a.png

But there was more to do! Ebil t.u. had a full plan:

Now, the future. Our man is thorough:

What's next? But here's the bigger question, now what?

* You can bet we won't be using the Aggie model.

Now to the biggest question of all, what does the future hold for t.u.?

image.png.09d44d5658822a7f3a8c4e1277e8bbe2.png Yes, there's that.

Not difficult to understand the filling of his panties with turds at the mention of playing a Mississippi school. Give the man a xanax and a shot of whisky.

I'm here to play at holy Kyle Field.
