Being from South East Texas and going to live in Midland to work for a few years will definitely put you in a bad head space. No greenery anywhere just dirty and tumbleweeds. Smh never rains it’s just the fucking worse

That's a truth that a lot of people from West/Northwest Texas don't want to hear (I'm one of them). People will hit you with "oh the people are so nice, etc." and they're right, but if you've ever lived anywhere with any natural beauty it will fuck you up.

I grew up in the mountains, but have deep roots in SE NM, up to the TX state line and have spent a LOT of time out there. It’s not for everybody, but I love the open plains and open skies. It’s not just the friendly people, I really do love the environment.

Many folks move from those areas to places like the Pacific NW and have a hard time with the trees blocking everything and the grey skies. One of my good friends growing up took his own life after a winter working for the forest service in Alaska.

  • look at what Amari Niblack did at Alabama as a freshman and what A&M needs at the tight end position, and I think it's a pretty damn exciting addition. They lost Donovan Green. LSU fans should be excited bout adding him, but he did not play a lot this year. It was injury-related, and because of where he was in his comeback, he wasn’t considered as good enough to crack into the tight end rotation. He might go to LSU and recapture that freshman form and be really good.

  • The same can be said about Niblack. That Alabama team was a play away from playing for the national title, and he was a weapon in their passing game. He was a freshman.

  • Being a receiver is his strength. There are sane Texas people I can talk to that will tell you blocking, or lack thereof is what held him back. If you see him, he is a thinner tight end. He is a weapon in the passing game. You look what the Aggies have added in Micah Riley and Nate Boerkircher. Theo Melin Öhrström can make plays in the passing game.

  • Niblack is like an overgrown wide receiver. They need a passing-catching threat at TE to add to the mix, and they need more help at receiver. You added Kevin Concepcion and Mario Craver. You added Micah Hudson — TBD. You hope Terry Bussey makes a jump. Ashton Bethel-Roman and Izaiah Williams are young guys who stayed on campus that they are excited about.

  • Niblack was behind Gunnar Helm at Texas. This is a Holmon Wiggins thing. That connection... Wiggins knows exactly what he will bring to this football team, the position room and pass-catching corps.

  • In this early window stuff, I hear rumbles of a player or two that will be playing tonight that could enter the portal. I think A&M would be in play, but I don't think it's a situation with Niblack where you go, “I think the Aggies get him as soon as he goes in the portal.”

  • I will say this: There are a couple of guys at Ohio State I am watching. There is one player at Notre Dame I am watching. Again, not to come to A&M, but guys at positions that I think A&M would interested in them. Unless the Aggies get someone who is playing tonight, I think they are done in the early window.

  • I watched Notre Dame eek by A&M, and for all the idiots that say, “It was a 10-point game.” It was tied. They were a 3rd-and-5 away from the Aggies getting the ball back to win that game. Riley Leonard threw a slant and got the first down. That’s what they have done all year. The next week, they lose to NIU. They got to the playoffs. They beat the crap out of a good Indiana team. They lost a couple of good players. They choke out Georgia. They win a really football game against Penn State. They are tough, physical, opportunistic and create turnovers. They don't give up.

  • I think Ohio State is the best team in the country. They beat the ever-living crap out of Oregon. They beat Texas. They beat Penn State earlier in the year. They lost to Michigan. I have watched them struggle against Texas.

  • I think the Notre Dame defense can keep this thing close. I know Ohio State has weapons, but if you pressure Will Howard, you can pressure him into mistakes and turnovers. I will go with the safe pick of Ohio State, but I think it's close.

  • I would like to see Notre Dame win because Marcus Freeman is an easy guy to root for. I don't want to hear about the Big Ten.

  • Either A&M or Texas is going to play the defending national champions next year. If you play Notre Dame early in the season, I would love them to be the defending national champions. I am trying to think of how many times A&M has beaten the defending national champs. LSU in 2020. Alabama in 2021. There’s one more. Nebraska in 1998. Why not 2025, Aggies over Notre Dame?

Yeah so I think we have the answer of who’s playing the national champion next year, and who had the best “moral victory” vs the national champion
