I'm out right now so can't pull the pics over. If someone wants to grab the screenshots from LHF's twitter, apparently Marcel Reed has been absolutely shit in their spring game and the natives are restless.

LSU was his best game, and he completed (check notes) 2 passes. This is so not surprising news.

Interesting.  Now do this with the preseason rankings/preseason expectations, which is what the schedule is somewhat based upon.

tl;dr - aggy's suckitude + Texas' surprising year = our SOS taking a hit; aggy's looking better.

Granted that they're playing really well, Aggies getting very Aggie.

We're bad fans. Our coaches don't have honor. Schloss is nothing without his assistants. Sadly, nobody remembered the dildo stuff.

* Lousy swinging bastard Schloss never fought his way back to 8-10 after starting 0-9 in the SEC, either! Put that in your dildo and smoke it!

I'm sure no one will notice that t.u. run-ruled the number 8 team in the nation the same day. It was 7-0 after two innings.

It's all about who's the bestest fans in all sports!

I wish we were manly enough to fear homosexuals like manly manful Aggies are.

Next up, Aggies on integrity, and a learned opinion about the geography of t.u.

Hyde Park, West Campus, the Capitol grounds, and the million dollar homes east of I-35 are all death traps. I'll go ahead and swing at the hanging curve and point out that A&M's campus actually has been turned into a cesspool from time to time with raw sewage seeping from the ground.

Anyways, they're very sure and excited about destroying us and taking their tornado to Omaha.

I guess Cain and weiner have been with schloss for 20 years since he has had success for that long, but will be in trouble when either one leaves.  Though for the past 9 months, he was supposed to be in trouble because he lost earley.  Don’t think they’ve reconciled that yet, beyond easy schedule from snakey.

I still can’t equate how facilities equal success. UC -Irvine is a prime example of “classic” college BB stadium, but I’d put the Dirt Bags’ post season success up against aggy any day.

Hell - even Stetson and “The Hatters” have an awesome home field environment.

Breaking news! Sorry to interrupt this program, but this is very important!

This guy has evidently been a Maroon fan for as long as that team has existed:

image.png.6e6fc61f82e442dc882b5f90b27ff35b.png

My friend, you are a part of something bigger than yourself at Texas A&M University. Traditions. Pulling for the team no matter what. Bragging about how loud your fans can be. Hating your coloreds and swishes. And the ring! My God! The Aggies ring! Get your mind right, 2%er. I bet you haven't completely internalized all the lies we tell about t.u. Do you even call them t.u.? Do you even keep track of what we declare to be the modern age of college football? Go to that shithole school in that cesspool of a city. That's where you belong. You better hope Billy doesn't chase you down!

When's the last time you bragged about our sacred facilities?

image.png.8e375380dd50dae5691478aa8f5ed4bb.png

It had to be a fiendish plan. Everybody knows facilitiesfacilitiesfacilities are the most important part of college sports. Second to that is renovating them constantly!

Dumbasses. Maybe the stadium isn't a big deal, but when you're promised renovations and they don't happen, what else will they fuck you over on?

I also get the sense some of Schloss’s complaints were with the people themselves (e.g., putting newspapers up to avoid seeing the cheerleaders)

That said, we need to fix the issue with empty seats behind home plate

  • Marcel Reed has come a long way. He looks so comfortable. He's getting it out quick and getting into less trouble. Only the games will tell, but I still want to see deadly accuracy down the field. I like a guy who can run and create so many problems, and you can give up a little bit in terms of being a passer. Some guys can't throw as accurately as others, but because they can run so well, they're still weapons. Jalen Hurts is like that. Sometimes, Josh Allen is like that. My issue with Reed last year was he was spraying it around beyond 10-15 yards, and it was hit or miss. You have to square that away because you have to have the consistent big-play element.

  • Offensively, we've talked a lot about this offensive line. We know what they have coming back. We know what they have with the experience. They've been good this spring.

  • I think the offensive line is going to be strong. I think the running game is going to be potent. I think they're better at receiver, but I wish they had size. That concerns me. They don't have this big outside threat, and that's where losing Thomas hurts.

  • So much of this is going to be Reed's development and his leap. He has to. He did some nice things last year, but he wasn't close to good enough for A&M to win 10 games, or even nine, on that schedule. To get to 10 and in the playoff or nine and show noteworthy improvement, Reed has to make a big leap. That's understandable. I believe he can. I believe he will, but he has to do it.

Late to address this drivel...

Not sure how they run practice, but Reed looks good and the OL looks good.  Might have a little to do with DL Stewart, Scourton, and Turner all going to the NFL - all likely in the first 3 rounds.  Reed, the OL, and the RBs will look good against a shitty defense.

I recall similar reports coming out of Texas from 2010-2020.  "Offense looks great."  Oh, shit; the defense sucks.  We have no idea about the offense.  Unimpressive big wins against NMSU, UNT, and Rice expose the weaknesses.

And didn't ol Trev fire some support staff out from under him without his knowledge?

When you're working for an asshole who is unreliable at best and actively working against you at worst and your good buddy comes calling to coach at the premier athletic program in the country, the choice is easy.

There’s a thread on aggie 247 about Lance Zurlein evaluating the aggie draft prospects and he concludes that Turner is the best of their prospects and that all 3 will go in the first 70 picks.

The thread tumbles into angst about those guys not really doing anything at ATM and handwringing about Elko and his program’s development skills, or lack thereof. Then this guy flies in over the top with an all time heater:

Byew said... (original post) I could be wrong but I think the personnel was different than a typical Elko D. I think it might be far more effective this year with less talent.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned here, but I've heard several major draft analysts talk about how A&M bulked Scourton up to the point that he looked fat and made him much less effective. He's since shed the weight for the draft process and reportedly now looks much better running around

Texas and other schools should use this as negative recruiting for edge prospects

And Shemar Stewart has a chance at being a top 15 pick in spite of his production.  He put up one of the most impressive combine performances ever. He was right up there with Myles Garrett athletically.  Yet he had 1.5 sacks this year, because Elko wants 4 guys on his DL averaging over 300 lbs who play run defense first on almost every snap. Elko wants his DL to stop the run, and he manufactures pressure with blitzes on third down.  If Stewart played in a better system, he'd be a no doubt top 10 pick this year, probably top 5.  Much like WR, any pass rusher who chooses to go to A&M is out of their mind and hurting their career. Any amount A&M is paying over the next highest bidder will be negated by their S&C and usage hurting their draft stock.

There's a chance that Stewart just mediocre at football, but I'm happy to use him as a negative recruiting example

Definitely possible. There are a number of freak athlete DEs who just weren’t good at football, but his biggest issue is poor hand usage, which is by far the most coachable aspect of pass rush. When you watch his film, it’s all just long arm rush with no counter or ability to disengage, and his hand usage is absolutely terrible. Similar dynamic with them bulling Scourton up way too much to the point his pass rushing opportunities became much worse.

He hasn’t been developed well at all, and Elko’s system limits his true pass rushing opportunities significantly. It doesn’t appear their coaching staff prioritizes DE pass rush in their coaching or scheme.

They talk about and so did LZ, apparently. I know we’ve all had a good laugh at what Elko and that old ass S&C rube are doing, but it really is unbelievable. They want an overweight roster, I guess to fit the image of their head coach.

What’s headscratching in all of this is why they insist on getting involved with, and paying top dollar for, pass rushers. There has to be some delusion in there somewhere.

Well, they are aggies. It's in their DNA. I imagine a bunch of boosters mumbling "Line of scrimmage league" in their sleep as they toss and turn. And when they wake up, they Stewart Smalley themselves into the mirror every day with a mantra of "I'm the Big Brother, THEY'RE the Little Brother." Then they repress their homosexuality a bit and head off to their State Farm office in the strip-mall by the nearest Kroger.

Was Shemar Stewart the one that kept faking injuries at the end of last year's Texas - aggy beatdown at Kyle?

It’s been mentioned by Jordan Reid at ESPN and Daniel Jeremiah at NFL Network that Scourton played the past season at 280 but trimmed down to 257 for the combine and predraft workouts. And not only so he could boost his times; he’ll play in the NFL closer to the latter number.

They probably use their unparalleled Meat Judging capability to guide strength and conditioning. Scourton may have been slow but just think how well marbled he was.

Advantage Aggie.

What the fuck is this lucid and shockingly self-aware TexAgs post doing on the "Fuck Aggie" board?

It is interesting though. After all the sturm und drang (including a lot of my own hand wringing), we are sitting pretty at DT. Experienced dudes from the portal backed up highly ranked underclassmen.

I haven’t noticed Texas needing to negatively recruit against Aggie to get top national EDGE prospects.

I think that they point to success of guys on the Texas roster rather than mention A&M at all.
