They struggle to understand that Texas is a world class university in multiple disciplines, business being right near the top. We have finally been making world class hires and being strategic and unified in our approach.

“What starts here…” sounds arrogant, but it’s a fact. NIL has unleashed our superpowers.

And thankfully, we’re not tied to some hayseed notion of backwards history like they are. Money isn’t helpful when you’re stupid.

How did the portal not “work” for Ole Miss?

In the last 60 years Ole Miss has finished with 10 wins ranked in the top 15 a total of 6 times but half of those (3) have come in the last 4 years under Kiffin.

Ole Miss under Kiffin is clearly “working” and they are over preforming per their historical expectations.

Thanks for pulling this one out, @RomaVicta.  There were many absurdities in that thread, but this one stood out. Poor dude is taking the Beetlejuice approach to CFB royalty. Just say it three times and it becomes true. Except it’s not, and never will be.

One might suppose that putting none of one's money into the portal would provide a solid million dollars or so per game to bribe a ref or two, resulting in a superior winning record. Pure cash transactions would be difficult to prove, and while a million dollars is a ton of money in $1 notes, it's only 20 pounds in Franklins, easily deliverable by FedEx.

It's also amusing that by claiming they're not little brother and that they are a blue blood only makes A&M more of a little brother and more pointedly not a blueblood.

People react the same to the sleeping giant blueblood claim as they would to Virginia Tech or Oklahoma State proclaiming themselves among the elite: You're delusional. Please stop talking to me. The vast majority of those fan bases likely never think about it and just pull for their teams as we do for the Longhorns.

I don't think any so-called blueblood program promoted themselves into that club.

I wouldn't give a second thought to not being considered that level of a program. I merely enjoy being in that group. It's a compliment the same as the elevation of the Aggies to the honorary status of Texas' little brother. Their association with us and the annual rivalry game keeps those morons on the map.

I feel like not long ago this board had a discussion on possible donor fatigue from lack of ROI, and you were adamant that it’s irrational spending and donor fatigue doesn’t exist because of that.  ROI being the team being good, not personal ROI.

I am not sure what you mean with this post and the quote.

I don't know who originally said what, but plenty of people have pointed out that when a booster contributes say $100k for to TOF, they are doing it for the return of having a better football team, not because they expect to receive $120k as a ROI for example.  You can call that irrational spending I guess.  But just because someone is willing to do that, doesn't mean they do it blindly.  If you are a Texas booster, you can say look how much better the team was with Golden and Mukuba, without those guys we probably don't make it to the semi-finals.  On the other hand, if you are a Texas A&M booster who contributed to the 2022 class, you would rightly say that money was lit on fire for absolutely no benefit.  Would that be reason for an A&M booster to have donor fatigue and be weary to give more, even if it is already irrational spending?  I would think so.

I wouldn’t call it donor fatigue in this case. The dude is doing plenty of donating. If Elko wants to go get a highly sought player and join a bidding war, he’s going to have to show he can post something better than 8-5 and a losing streak to close out a season.
