They struggle to understand that Texas is a world class university in multiple disciplines, business being right near the top. We have finally been making world class hires and being strategic and unified in our approach.

“What starts here…” sounds arrogant, but it’s a fact. NIL has unleashed our superpowers.

And thankfully, we’re not tied to some hayseed notion of backwards history like they are. Money isn’t helpful when you’re stupid.

How did the portal not “work” for Ole Miss?

In the last 60 years Ole Miss has finished with 10 wins ranked in the top 15 a total of 6 times but half of those (3) have come in the last 4 years under Kiffin.

Ole Miss under Kiffin is clearly “working” and they are over preforming per their historical expectations.

Thanks for pulling this one out, @RomaVicta.  There were many absurdities in that thread, but this one stood out. Poor dude is taking the Beetlejuice approach to CFB royalty. Just say it three times and it becomes true. Except it’s not, and never will be.

One might suppose that putting none of one's money into the portal would provide a solid million dollars or so per game to bribe a ref or two, resulting in a superior winning record. Pure cash transactions would be difficult to prove, and while a million dollars is a ton of money in $1 notes, it's only 20 pounds in Franklins, easily deliverable by FedEx.

It's also amusing that by claiming they're not little brother and that they are a blue blood only makes A&M more of a little brother and more pointedly not a blueblood.

People react the same to the sleeping giant blueblood claim as they would to Virginia Tech or Oklahoma State proclaiming themselves among the elite: You're delusional. Please stop talking to me. The vast majority of those fan bases likely never think about it and just pull for their teams as we do for the Longhorns.

I don't think any so-called blueblood program promoted themselves into that club.

I wouldn't give a second thought to not being considered that level of a program. I merely enjoy being in that group. It's a compliment the same as the elevation of the Aggies to the honorary status of Texas' little brother. Their association with us and the annual rivalry game keeps those morons on the map.

I feel like not long ago this board had a discussion on possible donor fatigue from lack of ROI, and you were adamant that it’s irrational spending and donor fatigue doesn’t exist because of that.  ROI being the team being good, not personal ROI.

I am not sure what you mean with this post and the quote.

I don't know who originally said what, but plenty of people have pointed out that when a booster contributes say $100k for to TOF, they are doing it for the return of having a better football team, not because they expect to receive $120k as a ROI for example.  You can call that irrational spending I guess.  But just because someone is willing to do that, doesn't mean they do it blindly.  If you are a Texas booster, you can say look how much better the team was with Golden and Mukuba, without those guys we probably don't make it to the semi-finals.  On the other hand, if you are a Texas A&M booster who contributed to the 2022 class, you would rightly say that money was lit on fire for absolutely no benefit.  Would that be reason for an A&M booster to have donor fatigue and be weary to give more, even if it is already irrational spending?  I would think so.

I wouldn’t call it donor fatigue in this case. The dude is doing plenty of donating. If Elko wants to go get a highly sought player and join a bidding war, he’s going to have to show he can post something better than 8-5 and a losing streak to close out a season.

Oh the mental gymnastics these rubes force themselves to engage in, to declare that it's been known since his TCU days that Schloss is a POS, and yet that's exactly who they hired.  But like everything else, when the ags do it, that's okay...

What an amazing thing to have all of the players and the one coach with ‘tegrity stick around, and all of the snakes went to Austin.

im sure all of these comments about schloss being a shitty person were all over their boards the 3 years he was there, as they lamented the fact that they had to tolerate him because he was winning.

The conspiracy around the tampering evidence and the aggies "waiting for the right moment" reminds me of the cults who think the end of the world is on the brink of occurring. It's all coming together. Right. If the aggies had a shred of evidence about that shit, every dork within their AD would be running to meet every dork they have in the media to share the info and exclaim "WE GOT HEEM!!"

That last set of images has everything. Conspiracies, self-loathing, the beginning of worshipping Earley by noting that he looked upset to be in Austin before they welcomed him back, little dick insecurities, claiming that Texas controls the NCAA, projecting all kinds of terrible traits onto Schlossnagle in a manor that virtually demonizes him (they're trending towards convincing themselves that he's a devil worshiper and turning that into an aggie fact - if Texas rolls this weekend, this is the next logical step), claiming that the runner-up title run was in spite of the HC who was probably trying to lose, and then some of the raw, uncut dope from a few aggies where they confess to actual hatred of UT and those associated to the point where it is hard for them to function around UT grads.

Just outstanding.

I think another reason involves location, school culture, exposure and history.  This is what the true blue bloods have that the aggies lack.  If aTm and Texas are offering the same in NIL,  how much more would they have to pay for you to go to College Station when you have other options?  Most of their problems have nothing to do with money, it has to do with other factors that are attractive to young athletes.  Location, prestige, other NIL opportunities, exposure, reputation, winning tradition, and pride.  Some people are smart enough to realize that the biggest bag isn't necessarily the best opportunity.  Yes, there are players who will chase the biggest bag, but look at how most of those individuals end up.  See the 2022 aTm class.

I think some of the boosters are realizing, all things being equal, they just can't win.  There was a time when they thought they could throw money at a problem, especially when they had SEC/Jimbo/Johnny Football momentum (and some of the internet fans still think they can), but the fact that they didn't make a leap when they were alone in the SEC, dropping bags, Jimbo, 2022 Class, etc. coupled with our recent success and their lack of it has to have some of their donor base facing reality.

If my son was a 5* athlete the price for him to go to aTm over Texas, Alabama, Fla, Ohio St., Ga., ND, Mich, USC, LSU (just to name a few) would be exponentially higher because of the location, culture and history of the program.  That is their real problem and not one anyone on TexAgs will ever see as a factor.  "Big bad Texas is outspending us."  Their only problem with NIL is that other programs have it too not that they don't have the support for it.  Their problems are not fixable because they are their tradition.

Meh.

It comes down to the head coach. If you have the right person in place they can overcome that lack of blue bloodedness. If you have the wrong person in place, all the blue blood in the world isn't going to elevate the program beyond their level of incompetence. A&M can't hire the right coach. I will say being a true blue blood helps keep a coach in place. But it's not a guarantee.

If A&M finds the right coach they'll win. In the meantime I'll sit back and watch them flounder. Because Elko ain't it. And I like their odds of doing a bad job of replacing him with Alberts in charge of the hiring process.

I don't think they're any more doomed to eternal mediocrity than Texas was from 1984 to 1997 or 2010 to 2022. Texas has more resources, a better location, a better history, and a number of other inherent advantages, but even with those advantages we couldn't win consistently doing those time periods. Yes, they're weirdos, but there's plenty there for the right head coach to tap into. It's just that it isn't so easy to find that guy or keep him once you have him.

Why does he think we sing and dance about them in every game we play? Hiss at them whenever we meet? Hate being little brother because A&M opened the doors to their mighty university a few years before we completed building an ugly campus in a shithole of a city?

Everything we do reflects are unending obsession with Texas A&M University's Fightin' Texas Aggies from Texas.

I'm sure we're planning to get a bunch of sham soldiers to get drunk, sexually harrass women, and build a suicide bonfire of absurd height.

We are so paranoid about m&a!

There is indeed a reason. We weren't the slimeballs worshipping Jackie "Mr. Not Responsible" Sherrill who never sniffed an MNC game. And they lecture on integrity.

Their problem is their culture. They can’t shake that. They can’t not be fucking retards.

They demand Franchione’s secret emails. They demand bass boat seats in the stadium. They demand Billy Liucci be in charge of NIL. They demand coaches “get” them. They demand male cheerleaders. They demand sitting national championship head coaches. They demand sawing horns off at places no one is thinking about a college band. They demand whooping and stacking and uncovering and roller coastering and humping and glory holing. Until they can accept that is not a recipe for success, they’ll never achieve it.

1939 was before the internet. Nobody would believe half of the stupid shit they do without seeing it. They can see it.
