Starkel had some foot injuries and hobbled around a lot.  Mond has accuracy problems.  Man Bun was all district.  I can't remember if it was 1st string, 2nd string or honorable mention.  Foster is a true freshman.  If Clemson breaks Starkel's legs, Bama will finish Mond and then hilarity will ensue.

Starkel is Joe Montana

Mond is Tommie Frazier

Man bun is Brock Osweiler

Foster is Vincent Young

Getting 1 qb a year is not a problem as long as you don't miss 3x in a row like Texas has for one reason or another. So don't act like taking 1 qb is a bad thing or a stupid recruiting move because you don't know what the fuck you're talking about

And the issue with taking only 1 QB is doing it numerous years in a row. Because we all know what injuries or guys that don’t pan out can do to your depth chart, but go ahead and spout off about how great their QB recruiting is. You must really be impressed with Mond or Foster?

Taking 1 QB a year is the correct idea for a program with a good starting QB.

I think a 1-2-1-2 pattern makes sense in an offense like Herman's where the QB is counted on to run the ball, with the caveat that if you're able to land a 5* in a 2 QB year, you only need to take one, with the expectation that after 2-3 years, the lesser QB in a two QB year transfers

I’ll argue that it is an imperfect game (from a game theory perspective) and that you’re simply obligated to take at least one every year, and any year in which two want to sign and you happen to like both, for whatever reason, you take them. If you have a can’t miss guy ready to sign, and he doesn’t want anyone else with him, fine, fuck it, take him and close it out. Guys on this thread mocking the aggies for taking what they can every year, they should focus on mocking the takes and not the numbers. The only time I think a program is butchering QB depth is when they don’t take anyone, irrespective of reasons.

Doing the math: Catching Bama in the recruiting rankings
VIP ByDAMON SAYLES 56 minutes ago

Back in February, head coach Jimbo Fisher -- relentless on the recruiting trail since taking over the head job at Texas A&M -- predicted the Aggies' 2019 class would "end up being one or two" when discussing final placement in the 247Sports recruiting composite team rankings.

"We have enough guys that we think we can win SEC championships with and national championships with," Fisher said speaking with reporters during National Signing Day.

Fast forward to now, and the Aggies are ranked No. 2 in the team rankings behind Alabama. The NCAA Dead Period is here, and while there will be no face-to-face interaction between the coaches and players, Fisher and his staff will be on a mission to not only maintain its recruiting success but also catch the Crimson Tide for the No. 1 spot.

Alabama currently has 271.76 points, according to the 247Sports Class Calculator, a scoring system that allows anyone to add or remove players to a current class to calculate a projected team ranking score. Texas A&M is roughly 25 points behind Alabama, but catching the Crimson Tide can be done with the commitments of a few key players.

The Aggies have 246.36 points now. Let's do some math to catch Alabama.

Help in the secondary

Let's start with the cornerbacks. Texas A&M has two of the nation's best safety pledges in 5-star Brian Williams and 4-star Demani Richardson, but the Aggies are still without a cornerback commit. 4-star Bobby Wolfe, a one-time Texas A&M commit, is trending to return to the Aggies. He and good friend, 4-star Erick Young, would be solid additions and would benefit from tutelage from Maurice Linguist.

Wolfe, a 6-foot-1, 180-pound cornerback, is expected to announce on June 30. Texas A&M is in a battle with Arkansas. Young, a 6-foot-1, 205-pound cornerback, has commitment plans for July 4. Young is on the USC campus for an official visit.

Updated team score: 259.70

Offensive skill-position assistance

The Aggies have secured a quarterback pledge in 3-star Zach Calzada, and they have a handful of solid wide receivers in 4-star Kam Brown, 3-star Kenyon Jackson and 3-star Chase Lane. There's opportunity for Fisher to add a couple more players who can find themselves in SEC end zones really soon.

One of those is Isaiah Spiller, ranked the top running back in the state of Texas. Spiller, the son of Aggie tight end Fred Spiller, is a 4-star talent who decommitted from Oklahoma in April. While the Sooners are still a team to watch, Texas A&M feels good about where it stands with the Aggie legacy. It also helps that Texas A&M doesn't have a running back commit as of yet.

The Aggies have three wide receivers committed, but Dylan Wright would be a definite take as a fourth receiver. A physical specimen at 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, Wright would be a major matchup problem for smaller defensive backs because of his size and strength. Texas A&M and Texas are among the schools battling to land him.

Updated team score: 271.09

Defensive help on the way?

Texas A&M has 18 players committed in its 2019 class. Of the 18, eight will play defense. Adding the best talent to the front six of a 4-2-5 defense is something Fisher and defensive coordinator Mike Elko have made a focus.

Marcus Stripling is a 4-star defensive end who has been thought to be a longtime Texas A&M lean. He's built a great relationship with all of the coaches, including defensive ends coach Terry Price, and he has made a few trips to the campus. A commitment by Stripling would mean the Aggies arguably would have one of the best defensive line class in the country in him and 4-stars DeMarvin Leal, Braedon Mowry and Josh Ellison.

Christian Harris is a 4-star athlete who is projected to play linebacker if he comes to College Station. Once thought to be an Alabama lean, Harris is someone with deep ties to Elko (he coached Christian's older brother Tylor Harris at Wake Forest). Harris could make a commitment during the fall, and if he chooses the Aggies, he'll join the 3-star linebacker trio of Andre White Jr., Tarian Lee Jr. and RJ Orebo.

Updated team score: 280.26

The big questions of the uncommitted

Jeffery Carter and Javonne Shepherd are two 4-star athletes who Texas A&M is in major competition for. Shepherd is an offensive tackle who could end up at Texas if not in College Station. Carter, a former Oklahoma pledge, has a top four of Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Alabama and Texas, and it appears his race will come down to the Aggies and the Crimson Tide.

During the spring, Shepherd said Texas A&M was a favorite, and he arrived at The Opening Houston regional wearing a Texas A&M shirt. Since then, Texas has made itself into a major contender, and the two schools continue to sell their programs in order to add him to their respective class. Texas A&M would love to team Shepherd and 5-star Kenyon Green together and also round out a solid offensive line class that would include Green, Shepherd and 3-stars Layden Robinson, Adrian Medley and Blake Trainor.

Carter was once thought to be an Oregon lean, but when he announced his top four earlier this month, the Ducks were not included. Texas A&M has always been a team to watch, but Alabama has the best shot of topping the Aggies. He took an unofficial visit to Tuscaloosa this weekend. Elko is imagining the possibilities of having Williams, Richardson and Carter as safeties in the system next year.

Updated team score: 286.46

Landing all eight of those athletes would give the Aggies roughly 15 points more than what Alabama currently has. Texas A&M would like to add one or two along with any combination of the aforementioned. Among those interested in the Aggies are 5-star linebacker Nakobe Dean, 4-star Mohamoud Diabate, 4-star defensive end David Ugwoegbu, 4-star Jaquaze Sorrells, 3-star defensive end David Ojabo, 3-star tight end Jalen Wydermyer and several others.

Of course, Alabama is expected to add to their class, which is currently 16 strong. Among the players very interested in the Crimson Tide are offensive lineman Clay Webb, defensive tackle Faatui Tuitele, running back Trey Sanders and safety Daxton Hill -- all 5-star players. Add Dean, Carter and Harris to that list, and it could mean a runaway team recruiting victory for the Crimson Tide.

Texas A&M, however, won't make it easy for Alabama to keep the top spot by the time the February signing period rolls around. More importantly, the Aggies will have established themselves as a team to watch in the recruiting rankings for years to come -- just as Fisher proclaimed last February.

tldr If the aggies get everybody on their wish list (spoiler: they won't), then they'll be 15 points ahead of bama with only 10 more players

Typical aggie, fixated on only one school that regularly beats the crap out of them. They should be more worried about Georgia at #8 with only 10 recruits and other schools like Ohio St and Clemson passing them.

I wouldn't be surprised if OU passes them.

Why should they care what Georgia does? They play them like once every 20 years. They play Bama every year. They will never recruit at Alabama's level, but they need to keep up with LSU/Auburn

The context of the post, that's why. Dumbo said they would have the 1-2 ranked recruiting class. So the post was about how they can jump bama to get to #1.

It wasn't about keeping up with teams they play etc...

Bench press and money smack talk? That is one cesspool of a fanbase.

And all of this just because one guy ranked a corner prospect lower than they wanted him to?

Wolfe should be ranked lower than what he is.  I'd have Banks and Caldwell ahead of him.

Doing the math: Catching Bama in the recruiting rankings

Typical aggie, fixated on only one school that regularly beats the crap out of them. They should be more worried about Georgia at #8 with only 10 recruits and other schools like Ohio St and Clemson passing them.

I wouldn't be surprised if OU passes them.

A&M is 2-8 against Alabama.

Texas is 8-1-1 against Alabama.
