Jimbo 2019: The Only Tail Getting Busted is Candi's

When the fuck has Jimbo ever been known as an elite evaluator? His entire MO at FSU was to out recurit the rest of ACC and then beat them into submission with a huge talent deficit. Really it was similar to Mack Brown during the 00s, once a crack in the talent appeared the whole program collapsed.

I'm with you. I'm not convinced he's as good a coach as he is recruiter.  Worked great in ACC... SEC going to be another story.

They'll still be able to quote their Top 10 finishes** though

It's like you've never met an aggy.

Here are Jimbo's 247 composite rankings...someone else can check and see how many of his 3-stars panned out. Even Mack Brown regularly had OU putting up Top 10 classes.

Year  Rank  5-stars 4-stars 3-stars Top 20 ACC competition and rank

2010   #8        3           7          19      #14 Miami, #15 ND

2011   #2        4          12          12      #9 ND, #10 Clemson, #18 UNC

2012   #4        6           9            4        #10 Miami, #17 ND, #20 Clemson

2013   #11      2           8           11       #5 ND, #14 Miami, #15 Clemson

2014   #4         2          14          12      #11 ND, #12 Miami, #16 Clemson

2015   #3         4          10           6        #9 Clemson, #13 ND

2016   #3         1           17           7       #11 Clemson, #15 ND

2017   #6         4            8           12      #10 ND, #12 Miami, #16 Clemson

With Jimbo coming coming to Texas A&M. Do you see high school coaches changing their offenses from pass happy/ aired to more of a pro offense?

Oh I'm not really sure about that. That usually happens when things are really trending one way or the other nationally.

Can we just take a moment to reflect on the sheer stupidity of the aggy who asked this question. High school coaches are suddenly going to change their proven, successful approach because... a short arsed coach for a cow college in the world's shittiest hick town runs a different system?

As an aside, I can't wait to see the pro style, West Coach approach work as well for them as it did for old buddies Mack and Shawn Watson. Should be an absolute treat to watch.

This. I'd honestly be more hesitant if they had managed to nab Dabo. At least he can coach em up.

Pretty much. Here’s the recruiting numbers for the ACC teams from 2010-2017. FSU had a huge talent advantage. Jimbo will go from the #1 team in talent in the ACC (by a significant margin) to at best the 4th or 5th best team in talent in the SEC.

FSU: 8th, 2nd, 4th, 11th, 4th, 3rd, 3rd, 6tth Class Rank Avg 5.125

Miami: 14th, 33rd, 10th, 14th, 12th, 27th, 22nd, 12th- Class Rank Avg 18

UNC: 23rd, 18th, 41st, 28th, 30th, 28th, 33rd, 29th- Class Rank Avg 28.75

Clemson: 27th, 10th, 20th, 15th, 16th, 9th, 11th, 16th-Class Rank Avg 15.5

VTech: 28th, 35th, 21st, 21st, 28th, 29th, 42nd, 26thClass Rank Avg 28.75

Pitt: 31st, 62nd, 43rd, 32nd, 44th, 46th, 30th, 37th- Class Rank Avg 40.625

NC State: 35th, 71st, 52nd, 59th, 34th, 31st, 50th, 53rd-Class Rank Avg 48.125

G-Tech: 43rd, 43rd, 53rd, 70th, 54th, 44th, 60th, 48th-Class Rank Avg 51.875

Louisville: 44th, 27th, 45th, 36th, 45th, 33rd, 38th, 34th-Class Rank Avg 37.75

BC: 45th, 39th, 69th, 86th, 51st, 60th, 78th, 67th- Class Rank Avg 61.785

Syracuse: 60th, 58th, 60th, 74th, 52nd, 57th, 54th-Class Rank Avg 51.875

WF: 63rd, 66th, 66th, 65th, 67th, 51st, 62nd, 68th- Class Rank Avg 63.5

Duke: 73rd, 63rd, 62nd, 71st, 61st, 52nd, 33rd, 47th-Class Rank Avg 57.75

Virginia: 74th, 23rd, 25th, 29th, 33rd, 50th, 63rd, 58th- Class Rank Avg  44.375

This doesn’t include Maryland who was in the ACC until the 2014 season: Their class recruiting ranks from 2010-2013 were 39th, 50th, 37th, and 38th. From 2010-2017 only two ACC teams landed a top 10 recruiting class outside of FSU. Miami in '12 landed the #10 class. Clemson in '15 landed the #9 class.

Well yeah Dabo has kicked Jimbo's ass up and down the ACC, made the Playoff last year, and has a proven track record of leading a state's boondocks land grant college to a championship. He's just a better coach.

Yet he parlayed a 3-5 record vs that bunch into $75 million.  Maybe he is a genius...but not the kind the ags are hoping for.

aggy was only $EC good when they were brand new and a Big XII team.  That was their only shot.

They'll never admit the only team they've ever had that was SEC ready was a Big 12 team. I remember watching their first SEC game against Florida, and they lost by 3 to them. After the game ESPN (Chris Lowe) was on the sideline giving a breakdown of the game. He basically said that it would be a while before A&M was able to compete with teams in the SEC. They lost by 3 freaking points and the typical SEC narrative was they weren't SEC ready. aggy has basically adopted that narrative and ran with it when it comes to recruits that don't commit to them.

Dabo at aggy could have been legitimately scary. I mean, I'm sure they'd find a way to fuck it up because it's what they do.

I remember when Dabo used to get made fun of for being goofy, but he can recruit, he can evaluate, he hires good assistants and then lets them do their jobs without meddling too much (see FUPM), he runs an offense that would fit Texas talent perfectly, and he's not afraid to play the street agent game or go through a shady uncle - which you know aggy would LOVE. Basically, Dabo accomplished more in the last four years than Jimbo has in his whole career.

And, like you said, he's doing all of this at a cow college in the sticks that used to be an all-male military academy.

Not that I think Dabo would leave Clemson for aggy, but I'm sure $75 million would have him at least thinking about it. Thank fuck they hired Fisher instead.

Dabo is biding his time for Bama, why the fuck would he take a demotion and set his career back by going to aggy?

I don't think he would. He's in a way better situation right now while he waits on Saban to retire. Plus, having to start the process over at the all-encompassing suck-hole that is aggy would probably hurt his reputation, which might make Bama think twice about him down the road.

100% agree. He has Clemson rolling, and is easily the heir apparent to keep the Bama train rolling.

So Kenyon Green's 247 page has been updated now saying he's 6'4 330 lbs.  I'm guessing that's what he measured in at at the Opening Finals.  Sounds like a Guard.

Also, aggy 247 board is in a tizzy because 247 has that Florida OL Medley ranked #124 in the state of Fl.

Uh...I'm pretty sure, based on aggy history, that the roller coaster, regardless of the operator, is still using the same old track....hence, we know how it starts....and especially, how it ends!

just back from vacation. so much to catch up on but I saw this on the Aggy boards and enjoyed it...

Akinola, Ellison, Young, and Chibuzo.

Wonder why our staff told Young he was a S and not a CB?  Ellison mixing bad grades with not much growth potential. SEC LOS league, etc ...
