Well, it tells you in the description.

A property unlike any other! With walls, flooring, and ceiling made of concrete, this property can serve as the perfect storage spot for large wine collections, art collections, multiple cars, as well as serving as the ultimate safe house. The building is connected to two electrical grids and also features a natural gas generator that has is powered by two diesel fuel tanks in the event of a natural gas failure, making the chance of power loss a very rare. With office space as well as warehouse space and large outdoor area, there are many ways this property can be utilized.

There is probably 200k plus if not significantly more in scrap value for the electrical system, switch gear and generator.

in truth it would be a great place for a hydroponics grow house as well.

But let’s be real, that was some preppers safe house or a cartel stash house..

A former AT&T data center in Dallas, Texas, is being listed for sale as a potential safehouse or wine storage.

Built in 2000 by SBC, the single-story 5,786 sq ft building at 13229 Southview Ln is available for $989,000. Previous listings describe the facility as a former AT&T data center.

As it is built in a residential area, the frontage of the building has been disguised to look like a large house.

What seems super strange is why ATT or whomever decided they needed a data center or relay station (whatever it is) in an expensive residential area, instead of a quarter mile away in a more commercial area.

Cheaper land, potentially.  Get it rezoned for commercial, and then make assurances to HOA or whoever this would appear as a home.

ATT (and other telcos) have done this countless times; built a central office that to the casual observer looks completely benign.

It's definitely not an expensive residential area. Look at the other houses on the street. They're maybe in the $200K range. Whenever this was built in the early aughts, those properties were being appraised for under $100K. For security purposes, I could see why they would want their locations to be somewhat secret.

Well, relatively speaking.

A CO requires a ton of cabling and fiber to and from the facility. No way this is a CO or else they'd dug up the street to lay the cabling. Also requires separate entrance facilities for redundancy and a separate generator building for emergencies.

Not a CO.

Sure, but ATT (SBC) built it.  And they didn't go to any lengths to make it livable inside.

Also, from the listing:

Finally, you or I have no idea how much fiber ATT has underground in that area.  Would be trivial for them to just bore underneath the property to get to the fiber and get it into the structure.  Telcos bore under streets and other property daily to pull their fiber.

Looks like great filming locations if Breaking Bad ever comes back.

A Cavalli's pizza on the roof would really tie the place together.

CSB Trigger Warning:

Spoiler

Years ago I drove for Uber a few weekends just for shits and giggles ... and frankly hoping to pick up some ridiculously hot chicks from clubs and hope for back-seat make out session, but I digress. I picked up an <triggerwarning>Asian</triggerwarning> lady from her day job and dropped her off at her "house" in North Dallas. She basically shared 8-12 people live there off and on and most of the house is used for various crafts, etc., things that the "boss" or whomever would sell. She made necklaces and beads and other "imported" stuff. Probably a lot of darker stuff going on there ... before you ask, no you would not have wanted a happy ending from her. #noracist
