i wasn't really sure the first few eps, they were doing more scenes with yoga and meditation and 'enlightenment' stuff...but once they got into the character stories exclusively i have really enjoyed it. Frank, Rick/Chelsea, and the trio are the most interesting stories, but i also love what PP is doing on her role.

i think for me the biggest difference this season is...S1 was freaking Hawaii and S2 Italy was breathtaking. Thailand basically looks...hot,  humid, buggy, and not particularly enjoyable. some of the shots are incredible (like the yacht among the islands) but overall everything generally looks hazy, the sunlight is very desaturated, i'm pretty sure we haven't seen an actual blue sky since the season started. even when the guests are supposedly sunbathing around the pool, there's no direct sunlight. the light constantly looks like dusk. and apparently i do not like it lol.

i have wondered if that's just the season during which they decided to film or if the climate is always like that...🤔

Sure. It's just that it makes for boring television. He feels like a completely wasted (literally and figuratively) character. What's the point?

Haven’t they had those before in this series? I think that entire family is flying home together in a montage with slow music playing and 1000 yard stares.

It do be humid af there. But, I live in Hawaii and think in general Thailand beaches kick Hawaiis ass. The show isn’t really showcasing that though. Time of year does matter but direct sunlight is definitely not an issue.

Tim’s arc over the past three episodes hasn’t been about what he does, but about how he’s thinking.

Previous episode has him struggling with thoughts about how to kill himself, then the monk gives him a model of the afterlife that gives him the resolve to actually do it.  But before he can do it, Victoria says she can’t live an uncomfortable life, which he knows is waiting for her, so he adds her to the plan.  Now Saxon throws his eggs into Dad’s basket and links their fates.

Tim hasn’t “done” anything… except cook up a plan to murder/suicide his family which IMO has been fascinating to watch.  I think it’s pretty ingenious the way they have shown it progressing.

To me it’s a better show to watch in real time verse binge. Watching it real time definitely makes you want to see what happens next week vs binging. I quit halfway through season two but once I started s3 I went back and finished s2. S3 I think wouldn’t be the same binging. But it may just because I am ready to see what the fuck happens next week. They do a great job of giving you something about a character(s) but jump to the next right when you think you are going to get the whole story

Not sure what else y’all want from Tim. He’s at a resort in bumfuck Thailand catatonic on benzos and booze contemplating murder/suicide. That’s exactly what a person in that situation would look lllike.

Eh.

I'm digging the season but the lorazepam subplot has annoyed the shit out of me by this point.

Tim should have gone blackout at the very least, or comatose the way he's popping those and downing whiskey.  Esp if he had never taken them.  PP should have gone thru withdrawals like hell as others have said.

I hope he does die more than the others on this show given his murder fantasies.

His midday nap on day one was about right. But yea PP would be having a bad time and needing to supplement much heavier with booze than they’re showing. If this was season one I could prescribe her a bump, I run in to this literal scenario weekly with benzo patients from Four Seasons Maui

A lot of weird stories trickling out about on set issues during the filming of White Lotus s3

https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/02/style/white-lotus-composer-season-4-leaving.html

Quote

Cristóbal Tapia de Veer did not have an entirely pleasant stay at “The White Lotus.”

Mr. Tapia de Veer, a 51-year-old composer who was born in Chile, joined a video call on Monday from his home in the Laurentian Mountains in Quebec, a gong the size of a beach ball visible over his right shoulder. We had planned to discuss his score for Season 3 of the HBO show — specifically, its reworked main title theme, which ignited a minor fury among fans when the season premiered in February.

The conversation went in a very different direction. Mr. Tapia de Veer, who has won three Emmy Awards for his work on “The White Lotus,” said he would not be returning for the show’s fourth season.

He described creative disagreements with the show’s creator and director, Mike White, that began during Season 1. Conversations with producers could be “hysterical,” Mr. Tapia de Veer said, and the show’s creative team repeatedly requested music that was more upbeat and less experimental than the work Mr. Tapia de Veer wanted to produce. (Representatives for HBO declined to comment for this article.)

Also Jason Isaacs was interviewed and gave some interesting answers about onset relationships

It was like a cross between summer camp and Lord of the Flies but in a gilded cage,” Jason Isaacs shared in an interview with Vulture published on Monday, March 31. “It wasn’t a holiday. Some people got very close, there were friendships that were made and friendships that were lost."

Also, I read that Carrie Coon's character is supposed to have a trans offspring but they cut that element out of the season in post production "because of Trump winning" which is a different topic all together. But it seems relevant to the 3 friends storyline if the actors are working with that dynamic in mind.

Anyways, as an audience member there seems like a lot of smoke as to why this season hasnt been as good as the first two. Im still entertained and holding out hope for an amazing finale that ties it all together.

They talk about the Coons/Trans kid thing a bit in the long piece I posted above. Part of the reason to cut it was to get it down to a manageable length. Apparently, they could've had eight 100-minute episodes if they put in everything he initially wanted/shot. This was supposed to be filmed in 2022 but was delayed because of the writer's strike. They felt that having that storyline in there today, after Trump won and essentially declared war on that community, that it was an unnecessary "add" to the show. White's intention isn't for this to be a political show. I think the only thing remotely political was when Coons/Monaghan speculate on Bibb having voted for Trump.

We need a ai version with the gemstones, roys (not that they'd ever show their face at such an establishment) , and sopranos.

Add in the Lannisters and the True Detective S1 crew.  Rust would be cool figuring shit out.

I heard a theory I liked that the literal "fruit from the poison tree" in the first episode was foreshadowing how Tim was going to get off scotfree.  It would also explain why the plot would need them to give up their phones - not only so the family doesn't find out that Tim is in trouble but also so Tim doesn't find out too soon that he's in the clear.

But they’ve done it in their rooms or outside the resort.  I do recall Kate, I think, scolding Jaclyn for using it at breakfast one morning or something.

Agreed. I liked it, but a different outcome would have been better. Weakest of the three imo

It was predictable, tbh. I agree, weakest season of the 3. They didn’t land the plane

This season was missing a STRONG hotel manager character. The last two seasons were really driven by the managers.

I needed Valentina just verbally eviscerating all the men

Eh I still liked it a lot.

I'm not sure how to really rank the seasons.  They're all kind of same-same.  I guess I'm in it more for the beautiful vacation vibes and funny character interactions more than for the plot anyway.

I think it could have used more beach scenes - there were virtually none - and more local street life to take advantage of the location.

Spoiler

Belinda's storyline was a drag all season but her coming full circle on Pornchai was interesting I guess.

The shootout at the end was kind of dumb.  Killing off Chelsea did feel kind of trollish.

And Gaitok being forced to go against his beliefs sucked.  Worth it to lock up Mook though.

At least Lochie made it.  He just wants to please.

Good to see Frank back on the wagon.

"I'm glad you have a beautiful face!"

Kinda pissed they moved away from the tone of the show.  That was fucking heavy.  Like they tacked on a Tarantino ending that weirdly seemed predictable.  Who is going to that resort now?

Would have preferred something random and funny I guess like Coolidge trying to jump off the boat and smack her head on the rail on the way over.  Or Murray Bartlett taking a dump in the asshole’s room before getting accidentally stabbed.  Seemed like a different show.

oh well.

Sad that Chelsea died because she was easily my favorite. Didn’t hate the ending but didn’t love it.

Happy I watched the season but it was my least favorite of the three. For me it would be 2>1>3. Will still be looking forward to S4 if they make it.

I felt the Ratliff family got off too easy. I don’t like it when shows heavily imply a death only to take it back, and I thought that happened multiple times with them. Teasing the poison with every character only to have them all survive it was annoying. Maybe that’s the joke.

The corruption that comes with money is a heavy theme in this series. Piper flaked on her plans because of not having access to modern luxuries. Belinda was a genuine character outside the hotel guest social sphere, yet now she gets a taste and lays aside her suspicions about Tonya to just enjoy being rich. Not saying anything really, but it’s interesting to watch.

Maybe don’t grow that fruit easily accessible to the guests where if you eat it you die. “Oh that? That fruit you’re holding right now? Yeah it’s shockingly poisonous. So don’t eat it! lol.”
