I believe this was one of the early cases of someone criminally charged with disrupting a flight.  It was around 1993-95 on a flight to or from Houston/Cancun, IIRC, and a guy had a few too many and wouldn't obey instructions from the flight attendant.  IIRC, he wasn't directly hurting or threatening anyone.  It was something like he wouldn't turn down his boom box (do we still have those?).  A federal judge in Houston gave him a several month prison sentence.  Some guys in our mail room knew the guy and swore he was a good guy but that he just made a poor decision.  They were asking for lawyers to join in writing a letter to the judge to reduce the sentence.  It didn't work.

2 Air France pilots suspended for 'totally inappropriate' mid-flight brawl

A pair of pilots have been suspended following a mid-flight fight in the cockpit of an Air France plane.

The pilots reportedly exchanged blows during a flight between Geneva and Paris in June, La Tribune reported.

Shortly after takeoff, cabin personnel heard the conflict before breaking it up. One pilot remained in the flight deck for the remainder of the voyage, Bloomberg reported.

The reason for the fight is unclear, but a spokesperson for the airline referred to it as "totally inappropriate behavior," Bloomberg reported, citing La Tribune. The airline is investigating the pilots, The Daily Beast reported.

This is what happens when you don't respect "dibs" on the better looking flight attendant.

If someone is airdropping you pics it’s because you have explicitly and purposefully set your phone up to allow them to.  Not an issue at all that any employee ought to be injecting themselves into, IMHO.  Any complaints about that should be met with a polite suggestion to adjust your phone settings to something more appropriate. No need to escalate that drama.  Just my $.02

no, the button that is tard-proof that says either turn airdrop off or only make it discoverable to contacts.

anyone that doesn't have it set to at least one of these settings is too fucking stupid to be allowed to participate in society.

or hang with me here, don't make a fucking feature which allows people to spam the fuck out of everyone's phone unless they have to explicitly toggle to not receive.

This is Surly, Sidis.  We can easily avoid/skipover negative content in a simple fashion.  But society, as we do, will always choose to look at it just the same.  For the simple reason, it emboldens us to bitch and moan about it for hours, even days, later.

Think that makes it sound a little more significant of a problem than it really is. I leave mine set to receive from everyone. It comes in handy fairly often for me. I’ve never once received a bit of spam from it. Not even one time in many years of Apple usage.  But if I did, I’d know that I have a pretty simple solution to stop it.

umm, they don't.  iphones come from the factory with a default setting on airdrop for "contacts only."  you have to purposefully change it to receive from "everyone."

airdrop is an insanely efficient and useful feature.  but apple can't babysit every decision that every fucking moron on the planet makes...try as they might.

IMO, it's less a tech thing and more of a passenger disruption issue which the pilot and FA's are legally empowered to take measures to stop. If it's to the point of FA's knowing about it, then it's not just two lovebirds sending nudes back and forth, it's probably some weirdo sending pics out to the whole plane.

In analog terms, a flight crew would be 100% empowered to stop someone from handing out physical nudes to whoever would take them - especially if it was causing a disruption to other passengers or the flight in general

and i posted a fucking article about a pilot threatening to turn a plane back around because someone kept spamming people's phones. but it's the recipients/user's fault, not the technology that allows the spamming.

that's correct. glad it finally sank in. it's a big, mean world out there. people spamming other people's phones with inappropriate shit should be arrested for being sick pieces of shit.  but it is not apple's fault that you have changed your phone's settings in order to enable any random person on the planet to send you shit.

it's as dumb as blaming dell for making a computer and microsoft for making an operating system that is capable of connecting to the internet where an unmonitored child can go find porn/violence/sick shit.  particularly when one has to turn off a default setting that keeps one from accessing said materials.

Seems like more of an anti-apple crusade from some here than anything else.    The only people receiving unwanted shit on planes are people who actively set their phones to receive unwanted shit from other people.  I don't know why anyone would do that, but the world is clearly full of dumbasses who can still somehow afford to fly (and buy iPhones).  Some seem to think these idiots should be protected from themselves.  I say let them eat cake dick pics.

This.  We could make Surly smart phone and literally have in the Settings, a voluntary deal called "Unwanted Shit from Other People" and half our posters would opt-in and complain incessantly about what they had to endure as if it was some kinda compelling hardship.

I walked into an unlocked lavatory (before they had the lights deal pre-9/11) into a guy snorting coke off another dude's dick.   Did I complain or did the Captain turn the plane around?  No.  They discretely bought my drinks the rest of the flight to Sacramento and gave me a simple nod at luggage carousel 3.  Like goddamn men.

Your example is apples and oranges.  It’s pretty easy to identify and deal with someone physically handing out spam or harassing people.  There should be no tolerance for that and it can be dealt with swiftly.  Airdrop is different.  It’s not traceable. You can’t isolate it.  The simplest and most effective and instantaneous way of stopping it is in the hands of each person receiving it.   If it’s the responsibility of the airline to stop it then the only solution is to kick every person off.   Now we’ve not only fucked over the other 150 people on that flight but also the other 1000 or so that are scheduled on flights down the line from it.

What is that, like a 45 minute flight?  That short of a time period and these frenchies couldn't keep it together?

Ah shit, it was pre-9/11...you could bring an 8-ball, a handlebar of vodka, and a pistol.

To this day, I still don't know if they were just partying or being practical.  I mean, that little tiny sink area...there's not enough room up there for a proper rail.  Plus it's filthy an wet and riddled with disease.  An erect 8" penis that's been properly washed hours prior...I could see that.

That’s the rub.

Why would any adult act like that in public, allow their children to assault others and be so selfish & self-absorbed?  Is that woman such a troglodyte that she is prone to act out like this when things don’t go her way?

The dismal tide and decline of civilization.

Should have jettisoned her and her brats off the plane at 40,000 feet.

I’m not sure it matters WHY. They shouldn’t be allowed in the air again.
