LICE!!!!! No, seriously. Lice.

https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/american-airlines-flight-makes-emergency-landing-after-passenger-spot-lice-in-womans-hair-6265317

A Los Angeles-New York American Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Phoenix after passengers saw lice crawling in a woman's hair mid-air. A passenger on the flight, Ethan Judelson, shared his experience on TikTok, describing the confusion and uncertainty among passengers. He said that the crew provided minimal information about the diversion, leaving passengers puzzled. According to People, the incident happened in June.

In his video, Mr Judelson described the scene: "I look around, no one's on the ground, no one's freaking out. I'm like, it can't be that dire. But we land, and as soon as we land, this woman across the aisle from me shoots up and rushes to the front of the plane."

After the plane made an emergency landing, Mr Judelson overheard hushed conversations among fellow passengers. According to eyewitnesses, two passengers had spotted lice crawling out of a woman's hair, prompting them to alert the flight attendants.

"Apparently those two girls, they saw bugs crawling out of the woman's hair ... and alerted the flight attendant," Mr Judelson said in the TikTok video.

Upon landing, passengers were informed of a 12-hour delay and were given hotel vouchers.

"Right when we land in Phoenix we all get the email saying, 'Here's your voucher for the hotel.' And we're like, 'Hotel, are we staying here?' Mr Judelson, added.

American Airlines later issued a statement confirming that the flight was diverted due to a medical emergency.

In a statement issued to People, a spokesperson for American Airlines said, "On June 15, American Airlines flight 2201 with service from Los Angeles (LAX) to New York (JFK) diverted to Phoenix (PHX) due to the medical needs of a customer."

I wasn't blaming him but it's never right to touch a stranger to get their attention. I get that planes are noisy but I assume that he can raise his voice loud enough to be heard. And finally if the flight attendant is ignoring you for a cup of ice, it's not the end of the world.

And once again, if his side of the story is accurate, he never should have been handcuffed. And honesty I don't understand why he was handcuffed anyway. Perhaps if you've been accused of assault, law enforcement is always going to cuff you.

Oh bullshit. That FA is just a miserable prick. I imagine if he had raised his voice to get the dude's attention there would have been much more public drama.

I am a member of the politely knock on the door and get boarded club. Our luggage didn't make it until the next day, but we made the flight. That was the trip that convinced me to be carryon only. But, it was a LONG time ago.

As a father with kids, I can assure you that my own kids crying was quite uncomfortable to me, as I knew something was up with the kid.  When I am flying and hear kids crying, I immediately sympathize with the parents.  It really sucks for them and moreso for the kid.  I also thank God for inventing noise canceling headphones.  That fucking guy could have saved himself the trauma (ha ha) and the public embarrassment by just planning - buy some cheap noise canceling headphones and no longer allow yourself to be "triggered."  What an asshat.

As a father of two grown kids, I sympathize with parents of young children crying on airplanes. We've ALL been there. It's not the kid or the parent's fault. It's just life.
For this shitstain to go off on that baby and the parents tells me he's a fucking miserable person. Hopefully has hasn't procreated.

This. Sure, I get annoyed if a kid is crying/screaming and the parent isn’t doing anything to try to soothe/calm it down, but that’s really the exception. Most of the time, the folks are trying. And maybe don’t be a dick, and help them. We flew to Germany one time, and I ended up in a row with two young parents, and their baby. They were well-prepared, had a bulkhead sleeper set up, all of it. And I still helped them a couple of times by holding the baby, holding the diaper bag while they handled the baby, etc. Kid was well-behaved, parents were prepared and trying. They had my empathy, and they did all they could.
As opposed to the SWA flight from Long Beach recently where the gal just let her kid scream and didn’t do anything about it. That pissed me off.

Posted (edited)

Decades ago, flying back from Hong Kong, over 30 American families had gone over to HK/China to adopt babies. The entire flight back was chorus of babies crying. At no point on the flight was a baby not crying.

I don't remember anyone complaining. Babies are gonna do what babies do. Cry, eat, cry, shit, cry, sleep.

Odds it was a Spirit Airlines flight?  Looking into flights right now to NYC right now, and the cheapest flights by a wide margin are Spirit.  Um, I think I'll pass.

Get a front row bulkhead seat.  It's really no worse than any other domestic airline these days.

Maybe it’s camera catching everything in the world now but too many people go apeshit over any situation. I would be very annoyed with a crying baby on a plane but no reason to potentially ruin your life over it. There’s also the idea of preparing for a noisy flight. If you can’t afford noise cancelling headphones, go buy some $2 ear plugs.

China: hold my beer.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/08/30/china/china-crying-toddler-airplane-bathroom-hnk-intl/index.html

A toddler cried non-stop during a flight. Two strangers locked her in the bathroom

Two airline passengers who locked a stranger’s crying grandchild in a plane restroom have caused outrage in China and sparked a heated online debate on how to handle upset children in public spaces.

The incident went viral this week after one of the two women involved posted a video on Chinese social media, which showed them inside a locked lavatory with the wailing girl, who appeared to be about a year old.

“We won’t let you out unless you stop crying,” a woman sitting on the toilet told the toddler as she struggled out of the adult’s lap and reached for the door, according to the video posted on Douyin, China’s version of TikTok.

As the girl stopped crying, the woman filming the video picked her up and told her: “If you make any noise again, we’ll come back (to the bathroom).”

The incident took place August 24 aboard a Juneyao Airlines flight from the southwestern city of Guiyang to Shanghai.

The toddler was flying with her grandparents and cried non-stop during the nearly three-hour flight, the airline said in a statement Monday. The two passengers took the child to the restroom to “educate her” with her grandmother’s consent, the statement added.

But a day later, as criticism mounted, the airline’s customer service department apologized for the incident and “oversight of the crew,” adding it condemned the two passengers’ behavior, according to the state-run Southern Metropolis Daily.

One of the women, who posted the video online, said her intention was to ensure a “restful flight” for other passengers. But her post quickly met a backlash, with many social media users accusing her of being heartless and bullying the child. The video was later deleted.

“Adults in their 30s can have emotional breakdowns, but people don’t allow toddlers to have theirs,” said one comment on China’s X-like Weibo platform, garnering thousands of likes.

“We were all once children … Don’t be a cold-blooded adult,” read another popular comment.

Many others expressed concern that the incident may negatively impact the child’s mental health.

Multiple Chinese state media outlets have also weighed in, accusing the two women of “inappropriate” behavior and calling for “greater understanding” from the public toward young children who cannot control their emotions.

In recent years, complaints about young children crying or acting out on flights and trains have regularly trended on Chinese social media, with many accusing parents of not doing enough to manage their kids’ behavior.

Or in my case puke. My kiddo threw up just as we went wheels up on a flight to Amsterdam. Yeah, I had an extra shirt. Extra pants? Nope. I ordered another beer and apologized to those around me. They all laughed and no one said a damn thing. One offered to watch her while I tried to clean up.

I do not hate the Dutch.

How can someone purchase buy a fake AA ticket? Are people selling airline tickets in flea markets and shit?

I have a buddy that’s a high flying criminal defense attorney in Toronto. He had a client that was buying discount tickets on Craigslist and reselling them. She was a reseller but obviously it was a scam. One person had enough of her shit and she had to pay some big time fines and restitution for the fake plane tickets (she thought they were real).

https://www.cnn.com/2024/09/13/travel/australian-airline-passenger-fine-cost-fuel-intl-hnk/index.html

Passenger ordered to pay more than $5,000 in fuel costs after flight diverted due to bad behavior

According to the Australian Federal Police, a then-32-year-old man from Western Australia was disruptive on a flight headed from Perth to Sydney. As a result, the plane had to turn around and go back to Perth, which meant that the pilot was forced to dump some fuel to land.

Now, the passenger has been ordered to pay $8,630 AUD ($5,806 USD) back to the airline to cover the cost of the wasted fuel. The Perth Magistrate Court also fined him $6,055, meaning that his mid-air misbehavior has a total price tag of $11,861 – likely many times higher than whatever he spent on the ticket.

“This incident should serve as a warning that criminal behavior on board can come at a heavy cost to the offender,” Shona Davis, the AFP’s Acting Superintendent, said in a statement.

“It’s far simpler to obey the directions of airline staff than cause unnecessary issues, which can end up hitting you in the hip pocket.”
Although the flight happened on September 25, 2023, it has taken about a year for the case against the unruly passenger to work its way through the Australian legal system.

Neither the man nor the airline was publicly named, nor was it specified exactly what he did to earn such a hefty penalty.

I wish they would do this shit here.  Sir your emotional support peacock just pecked the shit out of a three bleeding passengers.  We’re now diverting.  You get to buy 83000 gallons of jet fuel.  And the air Marshall shot your bird.
