Care to elaborate further -- not sure what you are trying to get across with your statement "it’s exactly why we struggle and our players are the way they are while Bama is the complete opposite"

I agree with Saban's message about it being up to the players to "create value for themselves" and to "prove to coaches and other players that they can be trusted"

Robinson, Worthy garner multiple midseason All-American nods

Sophomore RB Bijan Robinson was named to five midseason All-America teams and freshman WR Xavier Worthy was tabbed to a pair of Freshman Midseason All-America squads.

Quote

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas Football sophomore RB Bijan Robinson and true freshman Xavier Worthy were each named to multiple midseason All-America teams this week with the second half of the season commencing this weekend.

Robinson was tabbed a Midseason All-American by the Associated Press, CBS Sports, ESPN, The Athletic and The Sporting News, while Worthy earned Freshman Midseason All-American honors from ESPN and The Athletic.

Robinson is the first Longhorn to be name an AP midseason All-America since defensive back DeShon Elliott in 2017. A Tucson, Ariz. native, Robinson currently leads the Big 12 and ranks third in the nation in rushing yards (924), yards per game (132.0) rushing touchdowns (10), scoring (11.1 points per game) and all-purpose yards (161.57 yards per game). He also tops the Big 12 and is second nationally in total touchdowns (13) and points score (78).

Robinson has rushed for 100 or more yards in six of seven games this season, including a 216-yard effort at TCU to become the 13th player in program history to eclipse 200 yards rushing in a game and the first since D'Onta Foreman in 2016.

The sophomore has scored at least one touchdown in all seven games this season (10 rushing, three receiving), and has reached the end zone in nine-straight games the longest streak for a Longhorn since wide receiver and return specialist Jordan Shipley scored in 10 straight games in 2008. The nine-game streak is the longest for a Longhorn running back Jamaal Charles reached the mark in 2006-07. Ricky Williams and Cedric Benson hold the Texas record, scoring touchdowns in 11 consecutive games in in 1998-99 and 2003-04, respectively.

In seven games this season, Robinson has total 924 rushing yards on 146 carries (6.3 ypc) with 10 touchdowns, while hailing in 14 receptions for 207 yards (14.8 ypc) and scoring three touchdowns. His seven-game total includes 1,131 on 160 plays for 7.1 yards per play and 13 touchdowns. Of his 160 plays, 11 have been for at least 20 yards, including runs of 50 and 62 yards.

Worthy has quickly made his mark on the UT program, most notably with his performance against Oklahoma in the Red River Showdown. Against the Sooners, Worthy established a freshman record with 261 receiving yards, the second-most in a game in program history, hauling in nine passes for two touchdowns, marks that are respectively tied for fourth and second among Texas freshmen.

A native of Fresno, Calif., Worthy holds the UT freshman record for touchdown receptions in a game after hauling in three against Texas Tech. His six touchdown receptions this season are tied for second among Longhorn freshmen, while his 542 receiving yards rank fourth. He leads all Power 5 Conference freshmen with 77.4 receiving yards per game (29 receptions, 542 yards) and is third only to Demario Douglas of Liberty (87.7 ypg) and Corey Rucker of Arkansas State (82.0 ypg) among all FBS freshmen. Worthy's six touchdown catches are second among Power 5 freshmen wide receivers, equaling the total of Konata Mumpfield of Akron and trailing only Rucker's seven in the FBS. Additionally, his 18.7 yards per catch are second among all freshmen, behind only Ahmari Huggins-Bruce of Louisville (19.9).

Was incredibly underwhelmed with the hire, rationalized it, and now am coming back down to reality.

He’ll remain employed if Texas decides it’s done with trying to reinvigorate the program. I guess boosters can keep us in the coaches carousel?

Ugh here’s to another decade of this shit.

Darrell Royal or Mack Brown never won their division or conference before being hired by Texas, should Texas have passed on them? It's taking a coach with a mediocre record, and seeing if his sobriety and offensive genius can translate, and if his choice of assistants can turn the ship around. It's really very simple. We will know in the next couple of years.

I agree that not placing first would not be a reason to deny Mack or Royal a shot. I feel there were numerous reasons why Sark was a bad hire and I left most of them out for brevity. Mack proved what he could do, even if it wasn't 1st place (NC actually finished with an identical record as FSU but lost the tiebreaker in 1997). Sark hasn't done anything approaching that and the body of work isn't there to support his hire.

Macks last 2 years at NC resulted in a 20-3 Record and 2 2nd place finishes.

Sark at UW: 15-10, 3rd place finish in his division. His 1 year at USC doesn't tell us much.

I think for the majority of us, we have seen this before and apathy is setting in. This is not a well coached team, nor is Sark recruiting well enough to fix the massive problem areas at OL, LB, and CB. He has gotten throughly outcoached in the second half repeatedly with no answers.

The others are acting out of blind optimism in hopes that things can improve even though history suggests otherwise. Sark's best season was a lone 9-4 USC team and failed to achieve more than 8 wins in any other year as a HC.

i know you and i (mostly me) got bent out of shape during the charlie strong era. i still have my opinions about some of the reasons why he failed here, but i have also come to realize you were also right. for many of the things i said, i apologize, i was wrong.

imo, we have hired the same resume three times in a row now but we are expecting different results.

nobody seems to want to mention the arkansas game as a massive failure as well in the second half. i still have that shot of him crouching on the sideline with a total "what the fuck do i do here" look in my head.  it was obvious he had no second half adjustments to try and salvage that game.

If we didn’t hire a “hot name” and he went 7-5 for 3 or 4 years. We would all say why didn’t we hire a “hot name” when we had the chance

Sam Pittman's on the field interview at halftime has stuck with me. He was basically bragging about how well they game planned for Sark's offense.  It was not your typical generic coachspeak.  And it was like he knew the game was over even though it was only 16-7.

Stoops was a hot commodity after Florida won a title. Everyone knew he wasn’t staying at Florida. It was simply a question of where.

Well he couldn't say on tv "we physically bent them over and fucked them in the ass til they quit." His game planning looks like shit against other physical teams.

Here is what we are really fighting.  I get some of you are just here to shit on the program.  For that group you are the opposition. I get it pound sand…

Look if we don’t think a league and a team can manipulate a game, a season, and or a conference then you probably won’t believe a car dealership was sold in the dead of the night.  You also wouldn’t believe that said dealerships records disappeared with the NCAA in transit to investigate.  Big hit NCAA did nothing..  So you don’t miss the point the Big 8 was a cesspool, and because SWC turned into a bigger cesspool we end up with 20+ years of crooked refs, lopsided scheduling ( think of this years schedule look at our bye week.) Look scheduling before Texas/OU every year) and the Gaylord Family out politicking & out marketing Texas.  Yes the Big 12 is corrupt.  So much so OU has salted mind share in all media including National talk shows.

We have sucked and are sucking at controlling the Texas narrative.  We stand on our higher ground while those around work every angle, and we continue to slip in relevance.

How about an outright assault!  How about call out all the above.  Call out every single time our local media craps on our team.  So much so some asshole local hack had made a career of it.  How about Brando never gets a Texas game again.

It’s not about taking the high roads it’s about get out of your ivory tower quit patting yourself on the back and join the real world of college football.

Use the media, use our BMD’s, keep on top of perception, and reality of our  brand.  Just like Notre Dame can BS it’s way into another postseason ass kicking Texas must correct the mismanagement of its brand and those that chose to lie, cheat, publish, broadcast, and facilitate these must be addressed every time!

Yall have been programmed to be bitches. When we lose, in the famous words of Sam Ehlinger, take the loss pussies. Its gonna be OK.

Really? Come on.

Sark came into a damn good situation personnel and coaching wise. Nobody here was saying playoffs, but conference champs and/or sugar bowl berth was definitely realistic.

Dude just has not delivered as a head coach here similarly to his stints at SC and UDub. I’m fine with the Arkansas loss, but OU and OSU came down to coaching.

Man, I'm not exactly sure what personnel you saw to think this thing was a conference champs or Sugar Bowl contender. Breaking in a new starting QB, same terrible OL, same terrible DL. Everyone is disappointed because we were hoping we'd luck into a first year head coaching miracle where we just go out clicking from the jump. That is so rarely the reality of any head coach taking over a program. Perhaps that's the problem with our fan base. We need to dial down our expectations but we're so impatient because we've been so awful for so long now. I get it. I want us to be good too. But it was never going to be an immediate success. Programs aren't built that way. And we're going to keep on this perpetual fire the coach after 3-4 years cycle because none of them seem capable of fixing what's broken in this program and with these players.

Preseason, Texas wasn't even picked to finish 2nd in conference

Several predictions had Texas as the 4th best team in B12 in 2021

He’s 50-38 overall, 29 of those games were decided by one score or less.

His record is 15-14 in one score games.  He turtles a lot.

his point differential in losses is -645 points, an average loss of 17 points.  With 14 of those losses being one score or less, several of the other losses were blowouts.

24-53 @ ASU, 21-52 @ Oregon, 17-52 @ zona, 3-41 @ LSU, 40-17 @ USC, 21-65 @ Stanford,16-53 @ Oregon,  0-41 vs Stanford, 14-44 @ zona, 21-56 vs Nebraska, 21-48 @ Beaver, 19-43 vs Oregon....  there is a trend there, not hard to spot

He’s finished once at 25 and once at 20 in the AP.   He has a track record of beating up patsies and Colorado, his biggest win by margin against on ok team was maybe #19 Cal his first year at UW 42-10.  If you dive into his record and really look, it’s pretty meh.

Hes 10-21 against ranked teams.

I don’t think anyone here would disagree that this team had the ability to lose in the conference championship and get the sugar bowl berth (while OU was in the playoff).

Please, Sark has been underwhelming, but he sure as shit ain’t going anywhere until 2023 at the earliest. I don’t like to be delusional like Aggys and will call a spade a spade.

Lifting this from the 1-0 EGAT podcast...here is Texas' 2019 class (should be upperclassmen leaders of the team now):

  • Bru McCoy - never played a snap for Texas
  • Jordan Whittington - often hurt, out for rest of this season too?
  • Jake Smith - transfer to USC
  • Tyler Johnson - can't crack depth chart
  • De'Gabriel Floyd - retired
  • Tyler Owens - portal
  • Kenyatta Watson II - portal
  • Marcus Washington - a little bit of production
  • David Gbenda - rotation player
  • Braden Liebrock - perennially injured
  • Chris Adimora - backup
  • Derrian Brown - retired
  • Roschon Johnson - QB covered to backup RB
  • Isaiah Hookfin - very limited PT, backup
  • Byron Morin - burred in depth chart
  • Javon Shepard - lasted 3 months, not with team
  • Jacoby Jones - quality, but injury prone
  • Marcus Tillman Jr. - constantly injured
  • T'Vondre Sweat - starter!
  • Peter Mpagi - medically retired
  • Caleb Johnson - portal
  • Kennedy Lewis - kicked off team
  • Marcus Caldwell - has he seen the field?
  • Jared Wiley - starter
  • Willie Tyler - portal
  • Juwan Mitchell - portal

Those are our team's leaders right now.  I haven't done a similar breakdown for 2018 but I'm guessing it would look similar.  We have systemic talent identification and development issues that span the last 2 coaches prior to this and won't be cleaned up 7 games into the first season.  Talent is what talent does and those that put expect chicken salad from chicken shit and want to give up after some shitty games where frankly we dogs to OU and OSU for a reason, can go fuck yourselves.

You can’t blame the players bro (I tried already haha). The rankings bro, the rankings. Herman signed top 3 classes constantly so we should win. It’s our lack of QA and QC coaches, 10 months in and our S&C coach already sucks ass. Sark has failed, it’s obvious by 7 games. I’ve just given you all the bullshit people are going to fling at you lol. It doesn’t matter that herman chased stars and didn’t find scheme fits. It doesn’t matter that all those stars he recruited progressively got worse over their careers at Texas thanks to the shit coaching staff they had before sark and Co. came along. It’s over, come back in 3 years when we hire Traylor and steal all the QA/QC guys from bama and win a title in his first season.

Meh.

About all a coach is is reputation.  All Stoops had was a "reputation."  Certainly all Riley had, although being anointed by Stoops was nice.

Strong wasn't the sexiest name.  Herman kind of was.  Sarkisian wasn't.

You can argue about "proven winners," but that's just a reputational thing, too.  And, there weren't just a ton of those available.

2018 has a lot less attrition and many more familiar names.

Not very many of them have proven to be real dudes, though.

There is nothing about Sark's resume that suggests he will be a great HC for Texas. Most, if not all of the data suggests he is mediocre. It is what it is. Maybe he proves me wrong, but nothing suggests he will; it's all wishful thinking at this point.

*The 1955 Mississippi State Maroons football team represented Mississippi State College during the 1955 college football season. The team was led by second-year head coach Darrell Royal and compiled a 6–4 record, sixth in the Southeastern Conference.  (They were 6-4 in 1954 as well).

**Darrell Royal was retained and led the 1956 team to a 5–5 record, before leaving to coach at Texas where he won three national championships, was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983, and had the school's football stadium renamed in his honor as Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium.

He was a terrific OC at Bama, but it’s also alot easier to look good with 5 star talent.

People keep saying this, without taking into account what Bama's offenses looked like before and after Sark was OC there.

Not saying he's got the stuff as a HC. We'll find out if the problem was alcohol /  inexperience vs. just plain being bad.

But what I'm seeing on offense from the team, at least in the first halves of these games before the team hits the brakes, is competence I haven't seen ... well, ever since I've been a Longhorn fan. Even in that 70-3 blowout of CU in 2005, our OL -- a much more talented OL than we've had since -- looks kinda painful to watch as they do that retarded GDGD blocking scheme.
