I want a simple vintage … I love my yachtmaster but these while not chick watches do seem more date night appropriate. And they is PP. And modern watches as I can tell aren’t nearly as simple. And the idea of a watch from the 60’s seems rad, plus not $75k. O_o

Totally. My 55 Vacheron manual wind is my daily wearer these days. Paid 2,500 bucks for it at auction.

Blue leather band finally came in for the ‘57 after 8 months. I think I actually like the metal band better at this point but I’ll give this one a little while and see.74432EED-71D1-4256-A5EF-CF2B25562C55.thumb.jpeg.566d64e936b2d71b366603c8e46cc951.jpeg

I just pre ordered a Ball limited edition. They offer free engraving and choice of LE number.  I passed on the engraving but mentioning relative to the discussion above.

And a mere 10 months later…. Should arrive today

The most absurd watch I owned was a Ball Mad Cow Hydrocarbon with the white dial. Wore it for less than a year and flipped it for profit. I miss that thing.

Keeping the Moonwatch on my buy list, but decided to go this route for this particular occasion. Talked to a few ADs here in Manhattan, and it seems like a 6 month wait for these models unless a guy like @ChiTownDoc puts in a good word. Not the most sought after like Daytonas, GMTs or Subs, so I’m hopeful.

Worth the wait

Why was it absurd?

Why was it absurd?

Big and clunky, huge numerals made out of giant tritium tubes that were brighter than the sun. It was a tank of a watch that was the epitome of purposeful.

Like I said, I miss it. Wish I hadn't sold it but it was a lot of watch. And I made a small profit so that helped.

I got one of the new Cartier tank Francaise watches today.  I went with the Medium.  The XL was way too big.

Looking to get something like this for my daughter.  You mind posting a pic?

Was just looking at tank anglaise today with sapphire crown.

Here’s a (not great) picture of my wife’s 28 mm Oyster Perpetual and Cartier Tank Francaise Medium to give you an idea on comparative size. The Cartier is a bigger watch overall. She is looking for a purple face 31mm Oyster Perpetual now to get a little bigger Rolex. The 28 is a little on the small side.466745B3-10F9-4F93-A516-00B37B03F6E0.thumb.jpeg.546e4918070e7dc8a8d7c3dc20bb5faf.jpeg

Get one. You deserve it.

Lol.   The only one I want is finally starting to come back to earth, slowly but surely.   I still have problems wrapping my brain around that type of $$, even though I wouldn’t think twice about other luxuries.  I know how you go thru them, 116600 for a year, then I’ll make you an offer you can’t refuse…

I really liked the Santos when I tried it on. Extremely comfortable and looked great. Still ended up going with the GO 70s that I was considering at the same time.

I bought the wife one of those (w/o diamonds) last year and she decided she wanted a ring instead so I returned it.

I did however keep the Aqua Terra I bought myself (as a balancer) so it all worked out.

I find myself needing a black dialed piece as I near the end of my meager collection.  I keep going back and forth between Glashutte and Sinn.  I favor the Glashutte Original Sixties and any of the Senators from Glashutte.  From Sinn I'm really drawn to the Meisterbund 6200.

^^^ yep that would be the one.  I've been in touch with an AD and he's told me there are still some around.  I really like the contrast of the dial and number font.  Plus it checks a couple of other boxes for my collection rules.  Here's a couple examples of other Sinn pieces I dig but dials are the wrong color.

Sinn 箱・保証書付き【Sinn】ジン 6110 スモールセコンド 6110.4N 自動巻き メンズ【中古】【ev20】 for $1,368 for sale from a Seller on Chrono24

Sinn REGULATEUR Ref-6100-Klassik-4N Stainless Steel Box Bj-2009 for $2,551 for sale from a Trusted Seller on Chrono24
