You could go simple like a Casio F91W or Timex easy reader. Or perhaps something a bit fancier like the Timex 1983 e line. Or get one of the knockoff homage watches of something you like

Picked up this Laco Leipzig Erbstück. Laco artificially ages/patinas this model to make it look old and well worn. I'm digging it.

Super cool, i normally don't like faux patina, but it really works on this one.   i have a 46mm IWC big pilot.   What is the size?

Also, Sark rocking a submariner in today's presser.

42mm. Probably wears a tad bigger because the lugs go straight out and don't curve. I have a IWC Chrono Petit Prince (IW377714). Been thinking of unloading that for a 43mm Big Pilot.

That does wear bigger than 42mm. I would have guessed 46mm at a minimum

The real Luftwaffe watches were 55mm, and several thousand dollars now, so that was out of the question. Laco also makes this watch in a 39mm version, but that’s too small for what this watch is pretending to be.

Buyers probably arent pretending to be flying a war plane in the dark of night to need the legibility tho

Those Luftwaffe watches were also worn over the sleeves/gloves of a navigator's outfit. On a bare wrist it would look as oversized back then as it does today.

I just want to tell the time without putting on my readers.

My El Primero slipped from my hand when I was putting it on and I cracked the crystal. Zenith wants $1,600 to replace the crystal (they say it needs a full service in addition to the $600 charge for the crystal). I call bullshit.

It could be that they think that an impact hard enough to break a sapphire crystal means the movement needs to be inspected and serviced.  That's not an outrageous take. But if you disagree, find someone to just do the crystal.

Neg on the Cartier Tank if only because it seems like every woman I know has one, save for Mrs. Laz who refuses to give up the c.1997 Quartz Guess watch.

My vote is for a birth year Tudor Princess

but for real my Mexican friends said to leave the watches at home

Well that’s because Mrs. Laz is a one of a kind, all star woman.

and re leaving the watches at home - that’s one of my big complaints about Mexico I like to wear nice things and the older I get the more I like them. It’s maybe a top 5 hardest thing to get over when I think about us moving to Mexico.

The Fliegers look massive because there is no bezel. I have a 7” wrist and my 42mm Laco looked ridiculous. I ended up selling it to my coworker who now wears it everyday.

Went shopping in the Taipei 101 building mall and the luxury watches were well represented. Saw a A Lange & Sohne Lange 1 in person for the first time. Too bad my CC limit isn’t high enough or else I would have bought 2.

OTOH, I went to the Omega store and now want the Snoopy Speedmaster. More affordable at $10,400, but really can’t justify it with kids still needing to go to college.
