I’d wait. I have a feeling the criminal charges are not going to be filed. It just seems like there would have been something from law enforcement by now if there were charges pending. Allegedly, April 1 is the day they find out for sure.

If he doesn’t have charges against him and settles the lawsuits, he could still be worth 3 1st round picks or a player like Young and 2 first rounders…imo.

From a bird in the hand prospective, former #2 pick DE, #11, #43 picks and a third isn’t terrible. I would also like at least two #1’s plus either a good player, a third #1, or something like #2+#4.

In this case the value of Watson is the highest right now before free agency begins Monday. It’s a very weak draft for QBs and we have huge number of teams without QBs. With Rodgers and Wilson in place Watson is at the top of the heap. I’ll bet he can get three ones. Or equivalalence in players like chase young. This is a deep draft in wRs and DL.

This is the best draft for OTs in years…

Any other front office gets 3 firsts and then some for Watson. But the Texans will get a 3rd rounder and point to the cap savings.

Don’t be a defeatist. Texan could get three ones. They will spend them on a drop kick specialist, a holder, and a extra point snap specialist.

Been surprised how bullish the general NFL media crowd is on the return we will get. I really don’t see anyone saying we will get less than 3 1’s and some 2s or solid rookie contract guys. I mean, like 3 1’s and two starters on rookie deals is what I read as worst case… we’ll see.

Quite a haul. I hope it happens.

I want to be the guy who supports my team but I see 2 firsts at most. im so jaded that I cant see us winning a trade. When was the last time we "won" a trade? Like fuck, i cant believe my team will ever do anything good.

3 1st rounders and a young Edge who is very and S with potential who switched from LB. If we can get a couple of 2nds with that, that would be quite a haul.

the falcons have entered the conversation. Watson was a falcons ball boy and blank has known him since Watson’s hs days

I'd assume Matt Ryan would be on the table to come here?

I don’t think a 37 year old, mediocre quarterback on a big deal is in the Texans’ rebuilding plan.

Falcons (likely) can’t trade or cut Ryan until June 1, or he would be something like a $55M cap hit for the Falcons, plus they’d be paying Deshaun something like $35M. I don’t think the NFL allows the NBA style trades where there are “future considerations” or one team is actually drafting for another and a trade technically completes at a later date. I guess they could trade for Watson, then trade Ryan after June 1, but the entire NFL would know their position and instead of getting something (maybe a late round pick) for Ryan, it would become an Osweiler situation where they will have to trade future draft picks away to get rid of him.

Let this be the Nth lesson against giving mediocre QBs mega extensions that will cripple you for multiple future seasons all for one last gasp at a playoff run this year.

Let them negotiate against each other, and then take the winning bidder for even more, like with ARod's $252 million contract (if memory serves, Mets were second highest, but only at $180 million)

Watson's going to pick the team that gives the Texans the least return like Harden did.

Nah I bet all offers are very strong and agreed upon by Caserio or Watson wouldn't be negotiating with those teams.

Right; another team can’t contact Watson at all without Houston’s approval, and they’re not going to give that if the terms aren’t in the range of what they’re looking for. Apparently Indy approached them and were told “Nope” without even being able to make an offer….

The Cleveland Browns, in 2017, traded down from the No. 12 pick, sending it to the Houston Texans. The Texans selected Deshaun Watson with the pick.

The Browns received the No. 25 pick in the draft, as well as a 2018 first-round pick in the deal

I think the trade is fine. Watson has baggage as well as leverage. He also faces some sort of suspension. His contract demands from the potential  trading partners probably decreased the return some. All in all, Caserio didn’t panic and came close to maximizing the return.
