I’m kind of onboard for another tank year. The 2023 Draft should be a really good one. Anderson is a generational player. Boutte is a tremendous talent. Potential franchise QBs. And sadly Bijan.

I think Bryce Young screams Tua 2.0. I’d rather have Stroud.

Hopefully Mills keeps improving, and Anderson somehow slides to the Texans.

I think Devin Leary at NC State will be a better pro than Bryce and Stroud.

Texans signed 2 DEs

Mario Addison - 67 career sacks - 2 year deal. 11 year vet, so likley a pass rush specialist

Rasheem Green - 13.5 careers sacks - 1 year deal. 4 year vet, so maybe a 3 down DE.

They combined for 13.5 sacks last year for Buffalo and Seattle respectively.

I propose they sell the rights to the Oilers name to fund the repairs and give Houston what is rightfully theirs.

Of course it will never happen, but a rebranding of the Texans to the Oilers would be a massive jumpstart in ridding the public perception of  stink currently surrounding this franchise.

Surprised to see us that high, and since our running game was dogshit (maybe 32nd in league?! Can’t remember) it’s obviously due to effective passing game. Not sold on Mills yet but his high efficiency and low turnover rate (first quarter very bad but last 3/4 of season was a great TO ratio) clearly have a great effect on the most important part of the field. TE group should continue to improve which can only help this stat.

There has been a lot of chatter lately about the Texans trading for Garrapolo. Which I don’t really understand. While he wouldn’t cost much to obtain and his contract is ok, he’s coming off of injury and isn’t a long term answer. I like the idea of giving Mills a complete look this season and if he’s the guy, then great. If not, it looks to be an excellent QB draft class next year.

I see that too but it’s all lazy clickbait reporting. Jimmy G is clearly not the longterm answer for the Texans, and while there’s a low-percentage chance that Mills is, it’s a higher percentage than zero, and he costs next to nothing. Makes no sense at all to trade for JG….

Trading for Garrapolo is high risk, low reward and makes very little sense, therefore that's exactly what the Texans will do.

Does Jimmy G read the Bible?

I'm just not sure he's worth all of our 2023 and 2024 draft picks, and I'm sure we won't settle for giving them anything less.

If y’all paid attention, you’d see that Caserio seems to know what he’s doing.

Jimmy G dated a porn star. I doubt Touchdown Jesus Easterby would OK him.

Fortunately, Jackie Boy’s influence seems to be waning, if this latest wave of free agents and draft picks is any indication. You never know with Tommy Boy at the helm though…

Yeah, I feel badly for the kid.  I hope he makes a full recovery and is able to get his career started next year.  I thought it was a great pick as well.  It's just the Texans luck that a "first round" pick falls to the second round because of injury but then gets cancer putting his career in jeopardy.  Kick its ass JM.

Wow

Tucker- "Based on what you watched of Davis Mills, Greg, do you think Jimmy Garapolo would represent an immediate upgrade, or did you see enough from Davis Mills to say, "I'm not so sure about that"?"

Cosell- "No I think Davis Mills, I watched a ton of his tape a couple of weeks ago, and I really came away very very impressed, he's far more talented than Garapolo, I thought he played extremely well, he has, when I look at a QB I start at looking at the way he drops and throws, repeatable mechanics, I'm not comparing him to Tom Brady, but that's one of the things that made Tom Brady so great, we never talk about Tom Brady making off platform throws, we talked about Justin Herbert this week and he doesn't make off platform throws, so it's repeatable mechanics, it's a strength of Mills game.

He also showed the feel to make the right kind of throw, he was very compact with his deliver, kept his front shoulder closed until he delivered the ball. He saw things well and clearly, he was precise with his ball placement. I came away from watching Davis Mills feeling like this guy could be a very good NFL QB. And his knee is healed, because he didn't play with a brace this year like he did at Stanford, which concerned a lot of evaluators. But he's not a run-around QB, but he has more than functional mobility. And I really like the fact that he understood when to be patient, and when to be aggressive throwing the ball depending on down and distance and field location.

I came away extremely impressed with Davis Mills and Garapolo would not be an upgrade, he'd be the backup in Houston"

Tucker- "Wow, far more talented than Jimmy G?"

Cosell- "He's a better thrower of the football. Mills was the #1 recruited QB in the country coming out of the Atlanta area, and the SEC stayed away from him because he committed to Stanford early. He's always been a high level thrower of the football."

I would not be surprised if the perv looked at the schedule and agreed to the 11 games just to fuck with the Texans.

Also can we just edit the thread title to "2022 Houston Texans still ain't shit..but there is light at the end of the tunnel".

They don't deserve a new thread yet.

I wish we were bad enough to get Anderson, but I think we will have similar picks from the past year in the upcoming draft. I'd really like to add Bijan and a top WR with our 1st rounders.

Given how much NFL teams reach for a QB, I think Anderson will fall to #3 even though he’s the best player in this draft….

I really don't think the Texans are going to suck as much as everyone else does.  I could see them winning 8 games if they can stay healthy.  I posted in the Cowboy's thread after Smith went down that they should trade for Tunsil.  Would the Texans trade Tunsil for 2 second round picks?  I would do it from both perspectives.

Because of restructuring, Tunsil is only earning $1M this season. The Texans are going to want a 1st rounder and more to part ways and eat $34M in dead cap.

This is a good point.  I didn't realize they had already restructured his deal.  If I am the Cowboys, I probably still make that deal.

I  went to training camp a couple weeks ago with the boy (he’s 6 and obsessed with football).  Tunsil walked in and just looked different then anyone out there; huge and has a presence about him, he completely stuck out.   Cant say that I’ve seen anyone  like that.

It was obvious that Pierce stood out as well, moved faster than anyone on the field.

Texans GOAT was out there too

While I understand the apathy, it’s surprising that there have been no posts about the suicide of Jamey Rootes a week ago. He was the Texans president for 20 years and was, by all accounts, a really good guy. He left in 2021, probably a result  of a Easterby power play.
