not sure how i feel about that.  James Austin Johnson is a fantastic Trump. but Shane would definitely pop, and his Trump is hysterical.

we know Maya will be Kamala.  big question is who will play Walz and Vance.  i don't think those have been announced, unless i missed it (which is entirely possible).

Certainly sucks for JAJ’s career, and honestly I’m not sure what else he does well on the show. Straight men/white guys are a dime a dozen. JAJ might have some trouble locating his agent today.

That said, Gillis is the right choice. Bringing in the big guns for the 50th Anniversary/presidential election year.

why on earth would they bring in someone else to play Trump? JAJ is absolutely incredible at it...is he too good? it's def felt like uncanny valley a few times...🤔

Shane Gillis's Trump is the funniest I've ever seen.

This. JAJ’s Trump really isn’t an impression. It’s similar to cloning.

Shane’s Trump is more theatrical and will play better on TV.

Jamie Foxx’s Trump is also amazing, but it’s more in the WTF category.

Missed the opener last night but just watched it and thought it was very good. Yang as Vance seems like a weird pick but everyone else nailed it.

Actually think Shane Gillis would do a great Vance.  Yang was basically just being Yang (reminded me of Chevy Chase's Ford).

Yang is always being Yang. I don't get the appeal at all.

Chevy as Ford was funny because it was ridiculous. Trying to dress up Bowen as Vance was just idiotic.

Aside from Dana Carvey and the Spirit sketch, the whole show was mostly dogshit.

Removing the bulletproof glass when Trump left the stage, exposing Vance was FAF.  To me it didn't matter whether Yang was a good fit for the character, because Vance is always cringy anyways. Thought the show was good for a change, and I'm not into the newest cast.

I thought the irony of having a gay Asian guy portray a chud from Appalachia was funny all on its own lol. The fact that they both wear eyeliner is just a cherry on top

I don't know where this Jelly Roll character came from or why he's suddenly unavoidable, but I have a strong suspicion that he was created by a marketing agency similar to how the Sex Pistols were just a marketing stunt designed to capture and replicate (and profit from) a certain vibe.

Well, he used to be a rapper. Now he decided he's country. Plus, he's a fat douche bag.

I like that Jelly Roll stood up like a man and admitted he had fallen and made terrible mistakes. I like that he’s campaigned for opiate treatment and passionately addressed Congress to fix it.

I don’t like that he’s admitted to being an addict, but regularly drinks and smokes weed. If addiction is a disease, it should be taken seriously. It also send a a shitty message to young people. Don’t do certain drugs kids.

i really wouldn’t give a shit what he looks like if he were a better singer. Stapleton and a host of others are better vocalists.

That said, I enjoyed his second song on SNL and thought he did well above average as a musical guest.
