I like these last two weeks. The supers are mostly taking some time before the playoffs, and that leaves open a lot of leaderboard and points for a fight into the playoffs, card for next season, etc. A lot on the line for some guys.

And then there’s Willie Z that about missed the cut and is making an impressive comeback.

Lots of great golf this weekend.

I guess. Finau put it away pretty easily last week and this one isnt producing much drama either. Maybe Kim has some self-destruction in him.

This Kim kid can play. Pretty pedestrian win (although a lot of these guys are dialed in to try and make the FedEx) but a ridiculous card on the day. And he won after making a quad on the first hole of the first round which I think no one has done since 2003.

In other news - Rory is on the verge of another scoring title - although he's only played 50 rounds so far and needs to play in 60 to qualify for the Vardon Trophy. (50 rounds is the minimum for the Byron Nelson)

Playing in every round in the playoffs will get him to 60 - as would missing one cut (granted that starts moving him in the wrong direction).

Why we have two scoring average trophies I'm not sure.

It's kind of a big deal as only five guys have 4 or more Vardon trophies (which has been given since 1937): Tiger, Trevino, Casper, Arnie and Snead. That's a pretty damn impressive list Rory would join.

Norman has 5 Nelson awards but missed the minimum rounds played twice for the Vardon.

Feel like he might trade it for that Open championship, though. 🙄

Assuming he doesn't bomb out of the top 30...

But the way he's played this year (and the way he's played this thing in the past) I'm kind of assuming he'll be in contention come Sunday.

Although there is always the possibility that that British Open completely mind-fucked him.

He's been mind fucked more than south Austin's mom has been actually fucked. Pretty sure there isn't much left for him to get all worked up about.

He came back and won the US Open the same year after the Masters fiasco. So maybe it's ironically what he needed. That British was the first one he had no excuse to not win in a long time, though.

And I'm mostly kidding. He'll be fine.

Billy Casper is one of the most underrated golfers in history...

Definitely. Just wasn't great in majors. At least for a guy that led the Tour in average five times and won 51 events.

checked his wiki Bio..3 times 2nd at PGA.  guy won a tour event in 16 straight seasons.  the only 2 guys to win one in 17 straight seasons..Nicklaus/Palmer.  7th all time in tour victories.

Not really PGA Tour related, but someone at the USGA is clearly a big Seinfeld fan.

Seinfeld group highlights notable US Amateur stroke play groupings

Quote

Newman!

The USGA has a history of creative groupings, and the upcoming U.S. Amateur, which begins Monday at Ridgewood Country Club, is not different. The best example: the stroke-play threesome of Mark Costanza from Morristown, New Jersey, Hazen Newman of Las Vegas, and Campbell Kremer of Louisville, Kentucky.

Get it? “Seinfeld” main characters George Costanza and Cosmo Kramer, and antagonist Newman.

Costanza is the most notable player of the bunch. The 33-year-old investment banker, who was born near Ridgewood, is a two-time Met Golf Association player of the year and was runner-up to Stewart Hagestad at last year’s U.S. Mid-Amateur.

Newman is a rising senior at Oklahoma State and Kremer a rising junior at Kentucky. Kremer attended the same high school (St. Xavier in Louisville) as Justin Thomas.

Other notable groupings include:

• World beaters:  Ludvig Aberg (2 in WAGR), Gordon Sargent (4) and Michael Thorbjornsen (6)

• The Tall Guys: Wenyi Ding (6’4), Stewart Hagestad (6’5) and Davis Womble (6’6).

• 2022 U.S. Open weekenders: Travis Vick (low am), Austin Greaser and Sam Bennett

• Summer winners: David Ford (Southern Am), Luke Clanton (North and South Am) and William Mouw (Trans-Miss Am)

• Elite Amateur Golf Series top 3: Caleb Surratt (1), Jiri Zuska (2) and Bryce Lewis (3)

Click here for complete tee times and groupings.

Rooting for Travis Vick to win or at least make a deep run like last year in the Amateur.
