My kid just found this video. Pretty cool. Andre Johnson clearly wishes the Texans would have drafted VY, too. He talks about how people were wearing VY Texans jerseys. Just from that angle alone, it was stupid for the Texans to pass on VY. They would have created a never-ending revenue stream of VY apparel sales. Hell, they'd have sold out the whole place with season tickets, too. He also talks about how Texans fans reacted to VY when he beat them in their own stadium with that OT run. I was there. It was insane.

Go to 1:18.

He could have been a monster somewhere he was wanted. The OT run was the only time I’ve seen him look like he was running as hard as he could.

How old was that interview? Looked like Andre Johnson was using damn AOL discs for his video chat.

Yeah that bold bit is how I've described it as well. And yeah, had he gone somewhere where they wanted him, knew what they had in him, and knew how to exploit his talents, he'd have re-written everything. I still maintain that he changed the way the QB position is played at every level.   Too bad he was never allowed to do then what NFL QBs are doing every weekend now. In the history of the NFL, there may be an example of a coach actively wasting a bigger talent than Fisher did with VY, but I sure can't think of one.

No idea what year the interview is from, but it was posted 2 years ago.

Look at my picture.  My friend and I who are in it looked at each other open-mouthed after watching him break a long run for a score  right up that sideline.  We knew we had never seen a player like VY.

I was sitting with friends who weren't Texas fans in the end zone section at the Michigan Rose Bowl game when Vince dropped back and a hole suddenly developed in the middle of the line.  "Touchdown," I said without thinking, because it was inevitable. My buddies lost their minds, thinking I could predict the future, when Vince sprinted through and scored a second later.

Vince kinda ruined going to games for me.

I got to see him beat Michigan and then win the Natty the very next year.  Two amazing trips to Pasadena in back-to-back years.  How do you top that?  My football watching life peaked when I was 21 years old.

Yep.  Same for me except I was a bit older than you.  Went to all 2005 home games, OU, Big 12 championship, and the 2006 Rose Bowl that season.  I seriously wondered what the point in getting season tickets for the upcoming years was.  I'd never see a season and an NC game like that again.

Once you’re of a certain age and you have been to the mountain top it doesn’t hurt as much.

That’s the way I operate anyway.

10 delivered me and I’ll never walk alone again.

I saw this was bumped and I was afraid to look, my initial thought was he was dead or in jail..   I really wish that wasn’t what I think when I see his name trending in general, but here we are..   Love him but get it together man.

Just saw the Andre Johnson video from above.  It was obvious for anyone with a brain what the Texans should have done.  It was obvious to anyone with a brain what the Titans should have done.    They were handed the winning lottery numbers from the future and fucked it up.   They went with David Carr who was setting records for taking the most sacks as a QB while having more interceptions than TDs year after year.   They had VY handed to them on a silver platter and decided to extend the contract of Carr that year.   Complete fucking morons.

The bolded part is almost so unbelievable that you would think it was a parody, but nope. Total fucking regards.

Come on man. They NEEDED Mario Williams to try to slow down Peyton Manning and the colts. They had no desire to keep up with them.

That is one of the most cringe-worthy things I've ever seen.  Man, I want to crawl into a hole and die just watching it.  Wrong on so many levels.

Vince was the first of a kind. Until then, NFL offenses had gotten so complex, and completely dependent on a QB with a complete mastery of the scheme and the ability to go three reads deep on every play (which meant that there were never more than single digit teams with a chance of doing anything).

Now, the NFL absolutely knows what to do with a VY- give him an offense he can run, play him early, and use the salary surplus that comes from having an effective QB on a rookie deal to make hay. If he develops further, great! If not, there are worse things than rolling a few years with a better Cam Newton.

Kubiak and Fisher weren’t having it, though. The new offenses were a good idea, but they were also a new idea, so they feared them.

Oh, well, we’ll always have that two minute drill vs. the Cardinals in 2009, to show what could have been.

She graduated college in 2022.  How the fuck would she know who VY is?

Why would she just go up and assume someone is someone else? Especially on camera? She’s a fucking idiot.

Not just that, though. VY was getting better, trending upward  statistically even in the idiotic, bullshit, conservative, utterly predictable system Fisher had him running. Even after that stint in Tennessee, based purely on what he did on the field, VY would have easily had places to go and be a star. The only reason that didn't happen is because Assface poisoned the NFL waters for VY with the bullshit about suicide and the other bs he leaked to his press buddies.  Remember when one of Fisher's buddies ran the piece about VY having a losing record against winning teams? That was true, but they used it against him, spinning it as if that was a big deal - leaving out the fact that without VY, the Titans were 0-10 vs winning teams during that stint. They also neglected to mention that VY's 13-14 record vs winning teams was top 10 in the NFL for the 5 years leading up to the article.

I hope there's an extra hot place in hell reserved for that motherfucker.

it’s her job

To be a sportswriter/reporter these days, apparently the only qualification necessary is a journalism degree. Most of them know far less about the sport they cover than any serious fan does.

Yeah ... had they drafted VY and let him do what VY did (get Ws), I'd have been an instant Texans fan and would probably still be one today, still buying Texans Super Bowl memorabilia, VY MVP merch, etc. Instead, they instantly alienated me. Completely. Forever. Fuck that idiotic POS franchise.

I'm sure I'm not alone in all of that, either.

You're not. I would have still continued to be a Bucs fan, but I sure as hell would have been repping Texans gear, too. Fuck those morons.
