Texas opens as a 13 point favorite v Texas Tech

How bad do we own tech? Strong was 2-1 against them, the one loss by 3 points. Herman was also 2-1, the one loss the famous 2017 SamTard Thanksgiving. Doesn’t matter how shitty we are, they’re our bitch. This is an easy cover, under. 42-14 type game.

I thought this was a gambling thread is it not?

I've been making these threads on the football board for years cause I thought it brought up some good chatter. But if y'all want it over here, that's cool.

Was also making sure I wasn't crazy and made this here instead of there.

Weather forecast is 90° and sunny.

The first fall cold front is projected come through during the middle of the week; if that holds up, morning lows will be high 50's and the air will be much, much drier than it has bee. Dew point in the 40's dry. High of 90, but this is an 11AM kick so that won't be reached during the game, or perhaps until the very end if it runs long. The forecasted kickoff temp is 78.

God willing the cold front arrives as predicted, it should be a beautiful day for a game, just wear some sunscreen.

This Texas team is still all kinds of flawed on both lines of scrimmage. We shouldn’t feel two touchdown confident against any Big 12 team not named Kansas.

My guess is it'll be bet down to single digits.

And yeah, this. Tech's been pretty solid running the ball, which Texas has had issues with even against ULL/Rice, let alone Arkansas. I am sure Texas will see a steady diet of Tahj Brooks until they prove they can stop the run.

Take the points.  If we by 13+ win you’re happy because we won.  If we lose you make money which softens the blow.  If we win by less than 13 you’ll be happy as a pig in shit.

I've taken this stance many a bet.

This is the best Tech team in 6 or 7 years.

Is there a consensus on this?

I thought Tech was supposed to be shit this year.  And didn't they struggle with SFA??

I felt like 13 was a lot of points considering we got our shit pushed in by Arkie but who knows. I don’t think Rice tells us anything. I’m gunshy until we beat someone with a pulse but I want to believe.

Total heading down as well, which might be my angle if it gets into the 50's. Here's the recent series history.

WVU +17 against OU is free money.

Disagree. WVU has never beat OU and it's on the road at night.

Maybe lightning will strike but I assume that'll be an OU blowout.

We easily could lose this game if we come out like we did against piggy particularly if we employ the same lame play calling.

This team needs focus all the time to win, looking at you, coaches.

as i posted in the wulaw weekly thread, we have short memories

53 weeks ago today we felt great about the previous night's no-lube plunge on UTSA, then went to labuttocks and absolutely shit the bed and should have lost by at least 2 scores before Sam pulled the greatest late-4th-quarter comeback in Horn history to save turtle's job for a few weeks.  the pitchforks were sharp, and the torches were hot.

add in big12 fuckery, which they are not afraid to roll out at dkr (see 2015).  add in the mack curse.  we should win easily.

It's now down to -8.5 at two of my books and 60.5 at one.

Should learn a lot about this team. If we are anywhere near the team I thought we could be before the Arkansas debacle, winning this game by 10-14 should be very doable. If we squeak this one out or lose it, then our next two weekends in the Metroplex are going to be rough.

Texas can absolutely lose at home to Tech (see 2015, 2017), but won by 25 in 2019 which is more typical when the teams meet in Austin. Basically, we should kick the crap out of them because its a home game.

The -13 was never a real line

The real open that people could actually bet was -10.5, which was bet down to -9.5 and then -9. In the -8 to -7.5 range, the money has come in on Texas in the 55%-60% range depending on which number it is
