The Georgetown Fire Department also says Ponderosa Pet Resort did not have a required kennel permit, but they said that permit does not have anything to do with safety measures like fire suppression and warning systems.

They also added that they know other businesses are operating without a kennel permit, too– and the city is trying to spread awareness and enforcement about this rule.

Which means nothing. Pretty much every fire is investigated for arson, especially structural ones.

Every fire is investigated for cause which is usually just a formality, most are deemed electrical in nature and classified as such, once Arson is actually suspected the investigation ramps up by a level of about 1000x

Rover.com was a site where we found our dog/house sitter. Never paid through the site though since we contacted her directly once we chatted for a bit. She was a vet tech while attending UT and dog sits nowadays to get her dog fix. Stays at our house while we’re traveling for just $50/night. Actually, she only charged $35 but I felt bad paying that little. Easily some of the best money we’ve ever spent. Our dog doesn’t even give a shit if we ever come back.

I’ve also had very good experiences from Rover. Although at least the first time you use someone, I’d probably recommend booking through Rover. Then once that experience goes well and you’re comfortable with that person, go off app and save the fees.

Responded to a fire not long ago in the county in a dog kennel almost identical in build, there were reportedly 30 dogs inside, our guys got our ass kicked making a very hard push into the type of structure we probably wouldn’t have gone so hard into if not for the reports of animals inside, turns out a neighbor saw it light off and was able to rapidly cut all the gates and let the dogs free, no loss of life. Fire was started by a heating lamp as they had no external heat source for the dogs. Lots of smoke(contents) lots of heat(all sheet metal)
