Former Longhorn assistant Russ Springmann is out at ORU

Luke Loucks is headed to FSU

I've always been surprised how ORU has had as much success as they've had over the years. Like, I don't know what the recruiting pitch is that seems to work. "Come to this super weird school with a weird looking campus in an ugly part of town named after a religious charlatan, oh and no tattoos or dancing, and you have to go to chapel every day, and here's our ugly ass 10K seat arena which will have a few hundred people a game, maybe a few thousand if we're good."

Tech assistant Matt Braeuer is headed to SFA

I'm hopeful that Matt will have some success at SFA and be ready to come back to Wichita when the Paul Mills experiment ends.

Watching Arch Madness makes me pine for the days of WSU and Creighton in the Valley.

I saw the Van Vleet squad lose to UNI in Cedar Falls.  Halcyon days for that league.  Both WSU and UNI finished Top 15 that year.

Minnesota open. Ben Johnson out after 4 middling years and multiple (ignored) pleas for the school to up its NIL game in MBB

I guess if Texas isn't in the Big Dance then our announcement should come Monday.  If we are in and we don't make the EE then the announcement should come right after Texas showers in the last game. With the old saying "With the resources that UT has, they should be in the Sweet 16 or EE every year" are the BO Cigars/CDC going to ante up and play with the big boys?  Shit the SEC Tournament is like the NCAAs just with fewer teams.  RT can't compete in this space.  Don’t say that we are a football school first…….look at Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Tennessee.  Texas is under pressure to make sure the big 3 men’s sports are always in the running for a conference title.  Other sports will be fine.

Word was that Nova wanted him. I probably wouldn't have given him that much (and the facility was already in progress) but that school has been desperate for the success they're having this year

Iona fired Tobin Anderson after 2 years. They just made the conference title game. Pretty baffling

For those wondering, Anderson was the coach of 16 seed FDU when they upset 1 seed Purdue a few years ago.

Did anyone hear anything about the WVU coach being looked at by Iowa?

A lot of people here think it's a done deal.

His brother is Hawkeye royalty, and he was at Drake for 5 years prior to WVU.  Both he and his wife are Iowa natives.

that'd be a kick in the nuts to the Hoopies. one that I'd fully support.

I would imagine Baker would make another decent hire if he leaves. He's got a pretty good history of hiring up and coming coaches between getting Grant McCasland to UNT and nabbing DeVries at WVU. Still, gotta be demoralizing after the money they've spent in NIL the last few years.

Left out of the NCAA tournament and lose your coach? Ouch.

WVU is probably a better hoops job than Iowa, honestly.  Iowa's really stingy about NIL for some reason - especially MBB.  Plus, they're so far behind us over the last 25 years in terms of actual results, fan support, and NBA development that it's basically 2nd fiddle in a small population state (despite being the generally more popular athletic department).

Maybe DeVries will reignite their passion and they'll do something with that program, but they were awfully content to let McCaffery linger at just barely above average for 15 years.  The Big 10 is an easier league too.  I do think DeVries will do pretty good there, but I don't see him catching Otz.

Good coach. It feels like forever since IU felt like a blueblood program. Could be a tough job unless there's some huge influx of NIL money available.
