Good coach. It feels like forever since IU felt like a blueblood program. Could be a tough job unless there's some huge influx of NIL money available.

Apparently they have a huge NIL budget for basketball

The Vandy coach.

Frank Stallone?

"Fucking Sweet! Can we get the ones with cajun seasoning? Oh fuck.....you're talking about our next basketball coach?"

Did they get him confused with the current Drake coach and somehow fuck this up? Oh, how the mighty have fallen.

I think wvu will go after Calhoun of Utah state. He coached there with huggy bear. First year at Utah state, had to bring in 9 new guys, and got them to the tourney.

Indiana sure cycled down that list of "hot names" pretty quick.

We're gonna get option #1 !!!

We meant #2

We meant #12

I'm a long time IU fan, and I'm pretty meh on the hire. Better than the last 2 coaches, for sure. But I feel like NIL has really evened the playing field. Look at Kentucky and Louisville last year, neither could get a big name coach and both are pretty far ahead of IU these days. At least IU was able to flip a sitting Power 4/5/whatever coach. Whether or not he's worth the money remains to be seen.

I have to give it to Utah State, they seem to consistently hit on their bball coaching hires. Just can't keep em there.

tough week for wvu fans, lol.

I find it pretty hilarious watching them get their panties in a wad over this. WVU fans have a way overinflated sense of their own standing in college athletics. They think they're elite and everyone else thinks they're a joke.

They're currently bitching about Hodge being the top candidate for their new coach. IMO Hodge is a solid candidate for them and would be a good hire. They think Bill Self or Billy Donovan or Dean Smith should be their new guy

USF made a hire too. Both were thought to be interested in RT.

If I were RT I'd go to the beach on some nice small island for a year and see how long it takes to count to $5 million.

An inebriated huggins decked out in his blue and gold muumuu did a fantastic job of capturing the essence of WV. They should just keep leaving open 24 packs of Natty lite in the gym and run it back next year with his fatass.

He is absolutely perfect for them in every way

If I had a nickel for every time UNT had a coach taken from them during the NIT after beating OKST in the quarterfinals, I’d have 2 nickels

Now that's a blast from the past

I couldnt recall why I knew that name, so I looked it up.

Quote

Farokhmanesh gained nationwide fame in the 2010 tournament, when he hit a crucial three-point shot to help UNI upset top-overall seed Kansas in the second round.[2]

Farokhmanesh played a total of 69 college games in two years and started all of them.[3] His heroics in 2010, which came two days after hitting the game-winning three-point shot against UNLV in the first round, led to an appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated.[4]

Thats pretty badass. Will be a young coach.

Allright, I went down a bit of a youtube rabbit hole. This is a video about UNI and Farokhmanesh in that tourney. Cool stroll down memory lane, and Farokhmanesh is wearing shorts that reminded me of just how ridiculously hilarious the baggy shorts look got around that time.

Is that serious? If so does that mean Willard to Villanova?

Allegedly yes. Saw he didn’t even go to the team dinner last night before the Sweet 16

Tuberville 2.0?

“Excuse me, I need to use the bathroom.”  Proceeds to crawl out bathroom window and head to Philly.

Cal leaving Arkansas after one season would be funny.

My wife is a UNI alum/former athlete, and that happened a couple years after we graduated college.  We were watching at a sports bar in Des Moines, and the whole place went absolutely apeshit.  Everyone was united because Iowa fans mostly went to UNI and cheer for them on the side, and the ISU fans hate Kansas.

2 years later we were in Lawrence for an ISU/KU football game, and we were at a dive bar getting Bloody Marys and the bartender goes "did you guys go to Iowa State?" and my wife responds "he did, but I went to Northern Iowa".  Bartender looks at her and dead-ass serious goes "I wouldn't mention that to too many people today".

Dude's a Midwest legend, and a lot of UNI fans are crushed that they couldn't get him back to Cedar Falls to coach, but assuming he does well at CSU he's on his way to bigger things".

I had a few encounters with his dad when Ralph was at Pitt. Dude was a massive asshole. Kevin always seemed a bit nicer even though he hates Pitt for how he thinks the university did his daddy wrong.  This would be a massive asshole move doing this now.

The carousel never stops. It won’t be on the same level as when USC hired Muss and set off a chain reaction, but still fun

If this is all true about Willard then his comments about how much money the players in the portal are asking for now is even more ridiculous. As he's bitching about that he's doing the same damned thing to Maryland, and apparently, Villanova.

No matter how much I don't like the behavior of some players it still pales in comparison to the jagoff nature of coaches.

Most schools would be lucky to have a HOF coach like Huggins who has a very impressive resume for someone who has never coached anywhere with an abundance of resources.

The biggest two things this search has told me are 1 - that the "insiders" for WVU know even less shit than they did 15 years ago during the re-alignment fiasco which is REALLY fucking saying something. And 2 - most in the fanbase couldn't tell you a damn thing outside of the P5 and a few select mid majors. But they're sure as hell going to overreact like they're experts on the subject matter.

If Buzz to Maryland is real, A&M will be open. I believe both Beard and McCasland would take that job. Luckily they have the worst AD in college athletics.

Willard said he doesn’t know where he will be coaching so if he leaves that starts the dominoes falling.

Beard, possibly.

McCasland? No chance unless you have insider info. Tech is a much better overall program than A&M with more history.

Why would Buzz leave unless he’s at odds with the admin there. He has 2 decent recruits coming in.

Tech will not be out bid financially for McCasland.

What fucking other reason would lead him to Collieville?  Seeking a cult?
