Well, bye, Jon Gruden

Don’t be silly. I wasn’t defending Kraft. Other than saying prostitution should be legal and regulated, which I believe to be true. Let’s not CR the thread.

First, I’m not aware aware that any teen was involved.

Second, the two cases are not related in any way. Gruden isn’t involved in a criminal matter.

Third, charges against Kraft were dropped.

Fourth, there’s a big difference between Gruden money and Kraft money.

This isn’t a teen:

Sex with that woman should be illegal.

Sorry to contribute to derailing. I forget if I posted this before, but the biggest reason in my opinion to drop Gruden is his insulting the players' representative. How can players not be turned off with their head coach bashing their player representative to that degree? Fuck him anyway. He always struck me as a smooth talker with no substance.

Why shouldn’t making racist and homophobic statements be reason enough regardless of to whom they were directed?

Housing, education, healthcare, the rise in those has been astronomical for my generation, and crippling. My dad paid his way through college working as a dispatcher for the electric company. The thought of that, even at a state school, is laughable these days.

I know. Those costs are affecting me as well. My MIL has been bedridden with 24/7 sitters and hospice to the tune of $3500/wk for awhile. We will probably have to sell her house soon to pay for a crappy nursing facility to the tune of 10k a month. Fucking bs, and not what she planned for at this stage. It doesn't just cost too much to live, it costs too much to die as well.

You seem tense, and fairly ignorant of history. The Boomer Generation covered two decades, and the part that bore me certainly wasn't handed a golden ticket, unless you count recessions every 3-5 years as good times. Hell, the mortgage rate on my 1st house was at 12% and I felt lucky to get that. The so-called "greatest generation" (and the early boomers..to an extent) are the ones who benefited the most from the economic expansion of the fifties and sixties, and they gave us a stupid war/wars and set up an economy that was and is a shit sandwich. Your parents failed you.

You are correct. I was failed by my parents, they being of the Boomer Generation. Most parents do fail in consideration of potential. I'm not tense at all, and I'm very educated in history. I understand the personal attack is just your Boomer way (sarcasimism). However, I'm sure an educated person such as yourself is well aware that your personal experiences/anecdotes are not sufficient to make a generalized conclusion about two decades worth of individuals. And others have spoken of the fallacy of your mortgage argument. But we are speaking in monolith terms, YMMV.  I do know that the BB have been the largest cultural block since they came on the stage and the entire society bent to your demands since you were born.

You'll get no argument from me that the Greatest Generation wasn't so great and have been forced to allow anyone else to have a seat at the table. They are shortsighted, greedy, and take no responsibility for what they've wrought. And they raised a generation of spoiled, petulant, and all-around fart sniffing children. Who in turn raised a generation of lazy cynics who refuse to take any responsibility for anything, and their little brother generation of preening, mirror-obsessed, bleating hypocrites that are a bigger force than their parents. And we're all self-absorbed beyond belief. The point is ain't nobody got clean hands in this shitpile we call America. And no one here gets out alive.

Good point.

Another issue though is you hear about those places getting raided all the time  by the cops. He’s an idiot for even going to one in the first place. He can easily afford a high dollar escort at a high dollar hotel. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard the “why would I do something so stupid” defense when the answer is always either “because you are stupid” or alternatively “you were thinking with the little head.”

No offense Doc but your opinion doesn't mean shit lol, I mean that sincerely. I'm talking about how they let Kraft keep his money making football team after they caught him taking advantage of young girls in a massage parlor but Jon Gruden has to go because the NFL cares about it's "image." It's hypocrisy that knows no bounds

Couple of things. Soliciting sex is illegal in this country. Not in other states or countries, etc. You can argue its morality, if its truly consensual (is it unlike porn? etc) and while embarrassing is redeemable in this day and age.

Documenting your racism, homophobia, and hatred for bosses in email - no employee comes back from that. The precedent for owners is Donald Sterling. It’s documenting your vileness and evil. Rather than weakness (sex).

Likely if you had an employee that did the exact same thing Gruden did and publicly, you’d run him off. And you’d be less likely to attempt to kick out a partner for getting busted for soliciting sex.

Gruden’s downfall is just not part of the debate on censorship in sports and media.

These richies get off on doing shit like this at places like the common man does just to feel more regular. They know they have legal counsel behind them in case shit goes sideways.

Either that or they are cheap as fuck and don’t want to pay for a nice hotel in addition to the prime escort prices. This is how rich people get rich and stay rich. I doubt they are even tipping.

Florio often gets on my nerves but he is spot on here.

“Does the league want us to regard Gruden as an outlier? Maybe. Or maybe the truth is that the league simply doesn’t want us to see how deep and dark and dirty the rabbit hole is. Gruden’s penpal, Bruce Allen, exchanged emails with plenty of people. Surely, he and Washington owner Daniel Snyder exchanged emails and text messages. Where are those?

This isn’t some fringe theory. More and more fans (and in turn, more and more media) are asking the questions that should have been asked in July. Why are the specific things that Snyder allegedly said or did being concealed?

As we wrote at the time, the league protected Snyder because that in turn protected other owners from finding themselves in a similar predicament, with scorched-earth reviews of business practices sparked by, potentially, false or embellished allegations (or, perhaps more accurately, credible allegations that they dismissed as false or embellished). No one wants to be audited, even if they haven’t cheated on their taxes. The WFT investigation amounted to an audit of the organization. By hiding the outcome of that audit, other owners could take some solace in the fact that, if they’re ever audited, the results will end up in an underground sarcophagus for a thousand years or longer.

That’s what would have happened, if the NFL hadn’t dipped into the WFT sarcophagus to selectively harvest and leak the Gruden emails. Now that the NFL has opened the door, others are insisting that other emails be released.

The fair and proper thing to do would be to release the full contents of the investigation. At a basic minimum, all of Allen’s emails should be released, including communications with employees of other teams and/or the league office. At a bare minimum, Allen’s email exchanges with Snyder should be disclosed.

Any other outcome is unacceptable. Any other outcome amounts to hypocrisy of the highest degree. Any other outcome makes the league complicit in any misconduct reflected in those emails, because the NFL continues to actively cover it up — the same way the NFL covered up the Gruden emails until the NFL realized that releasing them had one or more strategic benefits.”

Maybe Gruden will set aside his alpha male side and go all Bev Kearney and demand the league surrender all the Major Applewhites in these emails. It'd be kind of a bitch move, but what does he have to lose right now?

i went in a Korean rub n' tug bar on Telephone Road one time. I can assure you that Kraft's chick would be about a seven in there, and they were all around that age. Maybe mama-san behind the bar was about five years older, but if you think you are going to find some China doll in those places, you are sadly mistaken. The women there defined the concept of rode hard and put away wet.

Weird thing was there were youngish, not hideous dudes in there buying up $10 shots waiting for their turn with these chicks. A fetish, I suppose.

Not defending Gruden in any way, but I am happy to see the owner snipe at the NFL, saying "ask them, they have all the answers".  And Carr calling for all NFL correspondence to be made public.  Although, that'll never happen hopefully there will be enough push to get the WFT emails made public.  This was an obvious hit job by a horrible organization.  I hope it comes back to bite them in the ass.

Nothing. He’ll never work in media again (outside of something like Barstool Sports maybe) and he’ll never coach in the NFL again. In 10-20 years if he is bored he might weasel into some high school or low level college job with a heartstrings redemption story. I’d sue the shit out of them that it was a coordinated hit (likely not a winner, but maybe a settlement and let’s you subpoena everything, starting with Goodell and the NFLPA President).

Washington says, "Look! Squirrel!"

Quote

The Washington Football Team will retire late safety Sean Taylor's No. 21 jersey, making him only the third player in franchise history to receive such an honor.

Taylor's jersey number will be retired during a ceremony before Sunday's home game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team also announced Thursday that a road leading to the stadium will be renamed "Sean Taylor Road."

I think the opposite is true for the average fan. They treat NFL gossip like a woman gossips with her friend about the Bachelor.

Definitely wasn’t created by goodell. He has fucked football up mostly. I can’t think of a single good thing he did.

Yea a bunch of smart billionaires keep him around and pay him $40million a year because he doesn’t do anything good in their minds.
