Well, bye, Jon Gruden

Not a big Dan Patrick fan (he was at his best on sports nite and ESPN fucking ruined that pairing with Keith) but I am a fan of what Mike Florio has been doing with the WFT story. He’s basically been the only one since July of this year continuously pounding the drum that Goodell and the NFL need to be transparent with the investigation of the WFT. He’s spot on and if you got nothing else to do it’s worth a watch. Mike has literally been saying this for months. He’s absolutely right!

How can one not be a big Dan Patrick fan? He has the best sports radio talk show going by far.

This was a fatwa by Goodell. If he doesn't call him a fucking faggot and an anti football pussy we never see these emails. The interesting thing will be to see if he overplayed his hand because I guarantee you this wasn't the worst shit in those 650k emails.

Goodell has covered up everything from knocking out your girlfriend in an elevator to sex trafficked chicks giving handles to billionaires. But he's cutthroat.  He thought Michelin tire lips was enough to get gruden fired. When it wasn't he released more.

He works for the owners but this was a clear shot that if you fuck with him you're fucked.

And espn not even acknowledging that all this happened on their watch is hilarious.

Bucs have removed him from their Ring of Honor. That was quick. Good on Tampa Bay.

I should add they likely wouldn't have been so quick to act had Brady not brought them #2 last year & they're well positioned for a repeat this year, but they did act decisively.

Yet employ Antonio Brown.

He is foolish to use Washington team email of his friends. If he uses private email it is still foolish but unlikely to be exposed by a lawsuit. Hillary on the other hand  tried to use too much private when on the job

OK, I get what you're attempting here. You're trying out some new material, workshopping it before you hit the big time by posting on Texags.

A little constructive criticism here: if you're going to mention Hillary, you have to mention the classics like Benghazi or Vince Foster. But really, audiences these days want some fresh stuff like AOC or vaccine mandates.

What does Goodell do for the NFL that is worth $40 million/year? If he didn’t get that, how much would his alternate job pay him as a lawyer/figure head…a couple million maybe? Or conversely, the NFL couldn’t find one or multiple people to fulfill the duties for less than $10 million/year?

The questions seem to be who leaked it and why.

If it was Goodell, he must feel pretty safe because there is more dirty laundry in those emails. He's betting he can stay in control of the information. That's why there was no written report. Somebody a few pages back compared it to Baylor. Spot on.

That's the most likely scenario imo. If someone else leaked it there would be more about Bruce Allen. There's also no way Danny Snyder isn't in the loop too. He has got to have some serious pull or massive piles of dirt on others.

Unless a court orders the woman that gave the report to testify or be deposed then it stops with Gruden. It's going to take more to get Danny Snyder Don Sterling'd.

And ESPN is all about covering shit up. I expect nothing but crickets from them about it being while Gruden was employed by them.

No idea. You’d have to get all the owners to agree. Unless he leaves on his own he will be there at least thru 2024. Essentially, his job is to take the heat off the owners and take the slings and arrows for them. But I think it’s more complicated than that obviously. And I think he rules by blackmail.

He’s presided over increased value of the average NFL franchise from ~$900 million in 2006 when he started to ~$3.5 billion currently. So he’s made each of them $2.5billion on average. Times 32 teams that’s $80billion in value that been created on his watch. That’s why they pay him the dough. And why they keep him around.

I bet you have some bad ass emoji’s you could respond with.

You're gotdang right, whippersnapper. Why, I remember way back at the turn of the century when everything he said was happening on the regular. Thank the stars we've moved beyond that kind of behavior and now live in an egalitarian utopia where powerbrokers don't do everything they can to crush the plebeians to earn one more wooden nickel for their bottomless souls. Thank the heavens that there's no more racial discrimination, sexual discrimination, political discrimination or gender discrimination. Thank the winds that the government isn't dictating how private companies should care for the health of their employees or tell women how to handle their medical care.

Young turks like yourself that came up in the era of equanimity sure are lucky life is so good for you. If you squint hard enough you just might see your incredible ignorance.

Well excuse me for not picking up on that guys' sarcasm. As for my being a "whippersnapper", I would imagine I'm older than most on here. A hint: I managed to participate on the tail end of our skirmish in SE Asia. So in short, eat a bowl of fuck, respect your elders, and stfu.

I honestly think that value was going to increase regardless of who the commissioner was but he will get the credit....

They don’t pay him to cover the shit. They pay him to create value. The shit covering is just part of his job. They don’t give a fuck about any of the off the field shit until it affects value. And then they’ll still only care about value.

I’m ignorant of what he does, or does better than someone else in that job, to create value. Football, at pro, college, and even high school levels, rose in popularity exponentially starting at the turn of the century. The NFL alone can’t take credit for that, and especially not Goodell because it was still under Tagliabue’s watch. The vast majority of fans hate him and think he is corrupt. It seems like several of the owners dislike him as well. Perhaps it is merely extortion, if he dug up dirt on them when he was an underling to get the commissioner job and now to get record salary contracts.

Whomever he emailed didn’t call him out over it and say, “Hey, that’s not okay.” That should be an issue too, shouldn’t it?

you defended Kraft for getting a "tug job" from a teenage human trafficking victim lol. You defend Urban at every turn. You seem much more like the guy who got the email and covered it up than the guy who would turn the email in lmao.

Sarcasm does not appear to be your strong suit.

Respect my elders? Nah, they don’t deserve anything but my scorn and ridicule. A hint: Oklahoma ain’t the only place that’s a piece of shit because of Boomers. And yes, a bowl of fuck is all that will be left when that generation finally kicks for good. History will tell the tale of a brat generation handed a golden ticket that they promptly used to wipe their ass.

What if this was a ploy by the owners to make sure DSmith stayed on as the NLFPA President?  Word was going around last week that it was fairly apparent he was on extraordinarily thin ice in terms of keeping his job.  He's been highly beneficial to the owners as head of the NFLPA, much moreso than the players.

-Goodell/Owners leak these emails

-DSmith (rightfully so in this instance) is looked upon by the players in a more sympathetic way.

-Goodell/Owners maintain a stranglehold on the Players' Union.

??? Profit

Not really big on quoting myself, but I'll leave this here since I brought it up yesterday and it had been stirring around in my head for a few days before that...

You seem tense, and fairly ignorant of history. The Boomer Generation covered two decades, and the part that bore me certainly wasn't handed a golden ticket, unless you count recessions every 3-5 years as good times. Hell, the mortgage rate on my 1st house was at 12% and I felt lucky to get that. The so-called "greatest generation" (and the early boomers..to an extent) are the ones who benefited the most from the economic expansion of the fifties and sixties, and they gave us a stupid war/wars and set up an economy that was and is a shit sandwich. Your parents failed you.

Considering that the purchase price of a house then could be paid with a high school diploma type job, I'd say the interest rate wasn't that big a deal. You could offer 0% interest these days and a basic house in a desirable place is out of reach for most middle class people, and is getting worse by the generation.

True. But we also had that thing called stagflation back then where unemployment rates and inflation were also in the double digits. In around 6- 7 years, everything doubled in price, houses, cars,..even pussy. As for the current housing situation? Yeah, it is truly fucked and ain't getting better anytime soon unless some sort of equilibrium comes along.

Housing, education, healthcare, the rise in those has been astronomical for my generation, and crippling. My dad paid his way through college working as a dispatcher for the electric company. The thought of that, even at a state school, is laughable these days.

Sorry to contribute to derailing. I forget if I posted this before, but the biggest reason in my opinion to drop Gruden is his insulting the players' representative. How can players not be turned off with their head coach bashing their player representative to that degree? Fuck him anyway. He always struck me as a smooth talker with no substance.

The problem with this is that the average football fan (like myself) doesn't give a flying fuck about that shit. I watch football to relax on the weekends. If I want to worry about shit like this, I can just go to work. I don't care what millionaire dipshits email to each other.

Don’t be silly. I wasn’t defending Kraft. Other than saying prostitution should be legal and regulated, which I believe to be true. Let’s not CR the thread.

First, I’m not aware aware that any teen was involved.

Second, the two cases are not related in any way. Gruden isn’t involved in a criminal matter.

Third, charges against Kraft were dropped.

Fourth, there’s a big difference between Gruden money and Kraft money.

This isn’t a teen:
