It's a "blow me".  I was commenting about a post immediately preceding mine that referred to Sark as the OC.  We really don't need to belabor the point.

And yet, you can't stop belaboring your own semantic fuckup. Rent free.

I’d leave for the nfl if I were sark.  But he’s clearly not leaving.

now which school do you think has the gravitas and money to steal sark from us?

Ah yes, the offensive coaching genius from Groves, TX. The one coach that Mack Brown made a millionaire because he was afraid some other school  would poach him. No thanks,  Greg Davis has taken years off my life with some of his playcalling. :D

he's the coach here until he wants to leave or he's forced out

Likely? It's nothing but.

"Co-" anything is theoretically justification for a higher salary.

The actual OC is the one who decides whether to run or pass and which run or pass concept to use. The co-OCs are tasked with making the choice from their implementation. This is true regardless of whether we're talking practice or game.

In game, the OC is focused on how the game plan is working and what changes might be needed to fix a problem or take advantage of opportunities.

It just is not - or at least seems to be not - possible to oversee both the whole game as HC, and also the offense as OC. I lean toward "not possible".

Almost possible, or we wouldn't be getting to the Final Four, despite our talent advantages. Not quite is nevertheless "not".

Would it make your semantic problem better if we call the position HOC, for Head Offensive Coordinator?

Andy Reid calls the plays and they seem aight.

Andy doesn’t have to deal with 19-22 year old’s mentalities either. Sark does and has to “spread the ball around,” so they get touches. Nice problem to have to worry about, but still a “problem” when it boils down to it.

Does he though?  Seems like he settles on his guys and he's not likely to get the others very many touches.

Yep, and I have no problem with the fact of play-calling. Andy has an OC, too. Sark should get one.

NFL players will bitch about playing time and touches too. Sark absolutely has guys that he tries to get the ball to, everyone else be damned. Seems like he’s got about 5 main ones each year.

Looking back on it, what the fuck was Dan Quinn thinking firing Sark? If they score on the last play from the Eagles 2 yard line, they probably win the Super Bowl in Sark's 1st year as OC. And then the offense actually improved in year 2..who the hell fires an OC with a top 10 offense?

The “wild wild” is precisely this why there has been an exodus on the whole from the college ranks to the NFL the last few offseasons. In the NFL you get some semblance of an offseason whereas with how things are with the portal/NIL you are recruiting all year.

You guys keep saying he calls all the plays, but he doesn’t. He has definitely delegated at least some of the play calling. In the Arizona State game he was yelling into the headset that a particular red zone play was way too dangerous right there asking  what the hell they were doing calling it.

Recruiting but also maintaining the roster. That’s why CFB coaches are leaving, as it’s 365 for roster management.

Sir!

In the spirit of Abe Lemons, I’d like to buy a glass-bottomed car just to see the look on LotusHorn’s face as I ran him over.

Also, having never read this thread except for this last page, this looks like some sort of bum fight.

Sarkisian pretty much fucking hates the NFL, btw. Credit to him and Sexton working another raise though.

What head coaches have fled the college ranks to be a head coach in the NFL during the NIL era besides Harbaugh? Hardly a stampede.

Kyle Shanahan was the Falcons OC when they played in the Super Bowl.

They are constantly talking about it in the national media that the portal and 365 roster is something they don’t have to deal with in the NFL.

. . . and having little to no say in your roster makeup is not something they have to deal with in the college ranks.

I kinda figured this, and was dumbfounded by all the talking heads saying he wants to be in the NFL again. He got chewed up and spit out after 2 years in Atlanta, then went straight back to working for Saban.

Using logic, it would be a terrible move for Sark to go to the NFL. Glad we got this worked out and over with quickly.

It’s not that they’re going to the nfl they’re also leaving p4 jobs to take coordinator jobs at other p4 programs. Also g6 head coaches are going that same route

And soon will be griping about making less money as a 4th rounder in the league than they made in school.  That will be hilarious.

Is jimmy sexton the only agent in all of college ball?  I’m sure he’s getting his new NIL/rev share division about to rev up.

Pretty sure that was a Ewers audible.

I hope they increased the buyout if he leaves voluntarily so Sexton can't keep holding UT hostage every year. These contracts are always insanely lopsided - pay basically everything to fire a guy but they can leave on their own for pennies

And the Falcons were 2 yards away from beating the Eagles in the Dvisional in 2017, Sarks 1st year. Eagles blew out the Vikings in the NFC CG and went on to win the SB

15th in 2017 with Sark running Shanahan’s playbook

10th in 2018 using his own
