So excited to go to the SEC with these Tennessee assholes

How much, on top of the money paid to Nico, would they be spending in law fees to get him eligible by September?

He is eligible

Per SEC rules, if he's transferring in conference, he would have to still out this fall.

Which is why @Pato del Muerto mentioned paying lawyers.

UIL is defanged. There is absolutely recruiting going on in Texas high school sports. They allegedly do not allow it. If they were serious about it, they would make any student athlete who didn't attend that school or its junior high feeders sit out one year in order to be eligible

Depends on the district the kid is trying to play in and often, the team the kids is transferring to.

I know a kid who moved from Germany to live with his aunt so he could play football in the States his last 2 years in HS. The district blocked him from playing varsity FB at all. That’s despite the school he moved to having nothing to do with him coming to the States.

He was a legit D1 prospect, but ended up having to go JUCO because he didn’t get to varsity FB. The school he moved to was a power at the time, so I’m assuming other coaches in the district blocked him from playing.

That's such an extreme exception, I don't even know what to say.
Do you need the 480 counter examples of kids who miraculously ended up at Katy/ Aledo/ Westlake who didn't grow up there?

I agree. Just that there are polar opposites. Some districts do police it. Others are like the SEC. The UIL is effective when it chooses to be.

Quannel X’s son played a couple of years here in The Woodlands.  I’m sure that was legit.

It always cracks me up when we play them.  Band, cheerleaders, spirit squad, dance team, etc 99% white and Asian.  Football team, 50% AA.  One of my neighbors teaches at the junior high feeder for Grand Oaks. She says all their really good football players wind up “transferring” to TWHS.

Sports parents are fucking insane. Ive seen close adult friendships ended because coach wouldn't hit little 8yo Jimmy in the 3 hole. These parents will absolutely take out a high interest mortgage on a new house zoned to the good football team so little Jimmy can win state in high school.

I would wager that's what happens exponentially more than the idea people have of Katy and Aledo coaches out combing the area pop warner games recruiting.

I mean if you were raising a kid with athletic potential, many would say you are doing that kid a disservice if you don't get him into a school with the highest possible quality coaching and competition

You forgot the part about how he somehow moved from The Woodland's zone to Galena Park North Shore for his senior season after the big quarterback prospect from The Woodland's graduated the prior year.

On Klatt’s podcast, he compared Nico’s attempt to force a raise to how college coaches have been doing it for years. His example? Jimbo Fisher’s agent threatening TAMU with the possibility of Jimbo getting the LSU job, and wringing the $96M guaranteed contract out of them.

My quibble would be that coaches have buyouts they have to pay when they leave. I don’t like either move, but players are trying to renege on their agreements without consequence.

Apparently Nico was also failing to fulfill his NIL deal duties and not showing up for them either prior to this whole thing starting. Meaning he wasn't showing up to autograph sessions, meet and greets, and etc.

The Tennessee PR mechanism is out in full force at this point. They’re hinting at or outright stating to folks that the guy is absolutely not a “good kid” and that he’s fully culpable for this debacle alongside his dad. They’re now citing various examples of the player’s selfishness and poor work ethic. I heard on XM 84 yesterday and this morning as guests from various Vol sites have spoken.

Give Tennessee credit for learning a thing or two after the period of constant embarrassment from the Butch Jones years of “champions at life” and such to the Schiano hire/retraction to the Pruitt debacle. They’ve done well in public challenging the NCAA on NIL repeatedly, hyping the football team, and now spinning the negs on Iamaleava.

I like Klatt, but that is a terrible comparison for many reasons.

Also, ATM already provided a full guaranteed buyout of Fisher’s contract in the first edition. All they did the second time was give the imbecile a raise and add years. The idiocy of the lopsided contract in Fisher’s favor existed from day one of his time at ATM.

Klatt a sharp guy.  I agree with 80% of his takes. But as a former player who covers players he knows where his bread is buttered.

Yes and has a coach ever skipped practice or a spring game because of his contract?

Unless Tennessee hired aggy's lawyers to negotiate, they're allowed to put a buyout clause in an NIL contract.

I assume that SEC standard holds.  This is just coming from a UGA insider, who knows?

They're also saying he started asking for more $$$ right before the playoffs, because that exceeded the amount of games they had paid for.

Please, don't ever confuse Katy with Aledo & Westlake and other single school football factories.

KA+y ISD had 8 PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOLS when we moved away, 10 years ago (2025 at 30,000+ high school age, and 97,000+ total students).  They have a well established feeder system of elementary schools feeding middle schools and those feeding the High Schools. They do some arguable stuff with zoning, but it is 100% different that Westlake, Aledo, Southlake, Plano etc., the more affluent suburbs that have a single HS in their "school district."

Katy ISD had many challenges. I was a parent volunteer on a HS advisory board, and president of Project Graduation at CRHS. Every month, 450 school age kids moved to Katy, the equivalent of building a new elementary school every month.  CHRS did not receive the states highest HS ranking because their performance of "english as a second language" or "limited english proficiency" was deemed to be lacking. Not just bilingual in Spanish, they had to accommodate kids that spoke 27 different languages and dialects, including multiple Chinese dialects. Some kids didn't speak any english.

The demographics across the district were extremely difficult to balance. Cinco Ranch sent kids to 5 different Katy ISD High Schools, and 1 private one. The newer neighborhoods were populated with energy company employees with 2 college educated parents per household.  We hit our Project Graduation fundraising goal, raising $108,000+ v. $100,000 goal), in March. After discussions w/ the other HS, we stopped raising money, because other HS were not meeting their goals. (We took 600+ kids to an overnight lock-in & Dave Busters, gave away an obscene amount of prizes, and had 0 serious injuries/fatalities.)

They did some stuff w/ zoning that was a bit shady, but more like 10-15% shady, not 100%.  The new highs schools were massive, and had room to grow.  Not so much the older ones, like Katy HS. 1,000+ acre Planned Developments were easy to account for. Dropping apartment complexes in shoe box size parcels was not.  What if you buy a house in one attendance zone and it is rezoned to a different HS?

CRHS will always be 6A-Div 1, and Katy HS will probably always be 6A-Div 2. A bit shady, yes, but also the realities of the demographic flux.

My son went to school with and played youth sports with a kid for 8 years. His dad went to Katy HS, and it was well known they were going to move from the CRHS attendance zone to KHS when he started 9th grade.  Shady? No. Not even a little bit.

Yeah Rashada (or his agent or whatever) is a retard. He signed with Miami then bailed and signed with Florida and bailed now he's suing Florida because the $1M up front didnt show up... Which is funny because Florida found out he was just playing them to try to drive up his deal with Miami... and he is also suing over a contract that was never finalized, he never enrolled, he never practiced...

Discovery will be hilarious when all of the communication between them comes out.

First he got screwed by his agent or dad or whoever, and now he's going to get screwed by his lawyers.

All of that growth, and Katy High just miraculously stays at the top. I mean, I know we had that upstart Paetow. But that shit got corrected very quickly.

Nico is clearly a mediocre pain in the ass but I don't think anyone knows anything beyond that. The playoff rumor would be based on the notion that Tennessee is above running a spiteful smear campaign. Based on my unconfirmed feeling that Tennessee's athletic department is run by a bunch of hillbilly fuck slobs, both parties are opposite ends to the same, double-sided dildo.

who cares family guy GIF

Also have it on rather good authority (someone I know who used to teach and coach at Katy HS) that its no mistake that Coach Joseph would somehow magically find talented football players who also just so happened to be living (on paper at least) at the crappy apartments right next to Katy HS...

Lol, in 2015, Katy HS got caught playing a player who had transferred in the week after his team lost their playoff game. In other words, he had gone to Katy HS less than a week before they played him in a playoff game! After getting exposed, Katy imposed some phony BS self-penalty and was put on probation for a year, but should have been rightly banned from the playoffs.

Why?  People have been sitting out meaningless postseason college football games for a decade now.
