How is your week going

I'll go back to last Thursday to start, before I jump to today, soon after I woke up I realized that I couldn't pee. I felt like I wanted to pee, but nothing came out. A few hours into this I called my Urologist, and the office said I could get an appointment the first week of December, which didn't seem like it would really be helpful but they could have a nurse call me back and so I went onto that list. By about 10:30 I was in Urgent Care, and they really couldn't tell me anything, so I got an anti-biotic prescription called and they said go to the ER if you are still in pain (actually more like pressure, a lot of pressure).
Thankfully the nurse called back and they could see me just after 3pm, now this is about 10 hours after I had woken up and still no more than 2-3 drips at a time, and I try to pee like every 10 minutes. So we get to the Urologist office (short sidebar - at least I wasn't in manacles and leg chains, like 2 older guys who were there with Corrections officers - and the nurse ultrasounds by bladder and says it is over 1 liter and they will put in a catheter. Well she can't get the first catheter past the blockage to my bladder, so she goes off for the 2nd catheter and to let the doctor in the office know we are having problems. Thankfully the 2nd catheter gets almost all of the way in, not far enough to inflate the balloon, but enough to start to drain the urine. And that was almost instant relief, and with the lessor stress on the bladder she and her aide are able to get the balloon inflated and a successful insertion of my new best friend  - Mr Catheter. Total urine that they were able to drain (yes they measured) was just over 1200 milliliters (1.2 liters or just over 40 ozs for those of you non-metric centric types)

Jump to today, after seeing my Urologist on Monday, they finally got back to me this morning and I am now scheduled to have a prostate resection on Tuesday afternoon. I've been diagnosed with an enlarged prostate for about 10 year, had 3 biopsies (all cancer free), and been on medicine for almost 2 years (FloMax). My Dr said if it all goes well it will take 2-3 days to recover and be back to peeing by myself, and if there are complications it can be 2-3 weeks and include getting a new Mr. Catheter.

Things to know
- if you are of an older age (and really you will know when it is you), then you need to have a urologist, so there is someone to call when you have a problem. Otherwise, I'd have had to talk to someone I'd never met about having this procedure. I'm not going to lie, having a prostate biopsy is no walk in the park - they are shooting a needle into your prostate with a device that they shove up your ass. No anesthesia, no drinks, no bullet; maybe just a mild numbing agent. And then you piss & shit (and cum) blood for a day or more. But then you will, maybe, know if you have prostate cancer.
-  it hurts when you pee then you have a problem; what I found out is that it can hurt to not pee.
- a catheter is by no means a modern device, and the elastic straps with little buttons that are supposed to keep in place must have been invented in the 1930's. If you need a cath, look at buying some velco straps to hold it into place or a sleeve for you leg as a bag holder (I don't know how well this work, as I don't have the ones I ordered yet)

But most importantly #GoGreen beat Michigan (I mean let's keep thing in perspective

tl:dr - Wally is old, can't pee right, is having surgery but had 2 young women working on his junk last week

Somewhere in Austin, a man is poised to type...….

Well, on Saturday my punter failed to check out of a fake punt and then instead of at least trying to pass it to a playmaker...he ran straight into a wall of our opponents.  Then, on Sunday my bae's monkey bit a kid and now for some reason we're breaking twitter.  My boss keeps saying "serenity now" every time he lays eyes on me.  I guess he misses his lady friend and she was a titty-dancer too.  Serenity is a cool stage name.

Hope you get well soon.

I appreciate that. Thank you.

For the record, I am already on the mend. I’m committed to no caffeine, no alcohol, and no capsaicin for the month of November. Gonna keep to a new workout regimen as well as long as I’m resetting things.

Need to be well for an early-December trip. And I intend to be.

prior post was just a smartass post that came back to haunt me

but to update - it is almost exactly 1 week since my surgery, I had my catheter removed on Friday and so far everything is working well, still some limited restriction, no heavy lifting and no sex for at least another week.

Moar details, if you really have nothing better to do with your life

Spoiler

It was a great relief to get the cath out, it was much more painful than the first cath; couldn't ever get comfortable and at times it seemed to be pulling. After removal there were several days of bloody piss; and still have a small amount of blood where the cath rubbed (tip of the penis - ouch).
But it is amazing to be able to pee and void my bladder and not have to feel like it is just a slow process.
Not something anyone looks forward to, and I know there can be complications - but I'm feeling so much better it is amazing.
I don't get removal of all restriction until after my followup which is still about 2 weeks away.

I had a Cardiac Score ( non contrast) done and the score was a 1,000. I had one done seven years ago and it was 90. that's not good. All in all my Cholesterol is fairly well in control so this is odd. Going to have a Nuclear Stress Test done next week. Oh year....they think there might be a murmur or valve issue. Fun stuff.

It’s Tuesday, I’m living in the Outer Banks of NC till Thanksgiving, I’m having back spasms, and sitting at the local seafood dive eating oysters, and shrimp, and using vodka, and weed as muscle relaxers.

Waiting for 5:00 to get here so I can get an hour, and a half massage.

Surf’s up !!

I've heard the recovery from TURP is not fun.  I'm glad you are already getting relief.  Were you having trouble sleeping through the night?  If so hopefully the procedure will give you relief from that as well.

Reading this makes me feel good.  Most recent things I had done was deciding I could live with some abdominal pain until I collapsed under my desk at work a couple of years ago and the doctor said it was one of the biggest gall stones he had ever seen.  Was not fun.

This was after months of being told I had GERD and waiting for them to schedule the ultrasound to look at my gall bladder.  Something that could have been routine turned into an emergency and made recovery harder.

Currently recovering from rotator cuff surgery and getting the stretching done to break past the resistance can be excruciating but I'm tired of only partial use of my arm after 12 weeks and the numbness I get in it when I try to sleep.

Sorry for your not fun experience, @Wally Fairway, but this is really important shit that you're sharing. A friend of mine (he's only 64) is having his cancerous prostate removed today (they caught it very, very early).

I have my PSA checked regularly. I'd like to think that a dedicated regimen of sex and fapping has helped keep my levels spot on. Joking aside, I take this seriously. My dad's lived with an enlarged prostate for 15+ years and it's no fun. His biopsies haven't shown large cancer, but I don't know how much he's leveling with me. He's been on FloMax and another med to help keep the piss flowing. One of the meds resulted in him starting to grow man boobs a few years ago (meatloaf picture goes here).

So get it checked, guys.

You should make a temp tattoo of this with it:

Should prolly say fuck it and tattoo whatever he wants on those guns, or not at all. Do what you like, no ragrets. Im 45, everything is a temporary tattoo anyway, even if i hit 100, still temporary. Ill never understand the "what will they look like when your 80 crowd". Shits going to look like wrinkly 80 year old skin plus a tattoo. All the young bitches at the nursing home gonna be tatted, might as well swap stories from the 00s-20s

Checking in.  Started getting hives three months ago.  Have been to the doc a few times, but can’t get in to see an allergist until the end of December.  Have never had allergic reactions to anything before, but I guess I’m two months shy of 50 and the wheels are starting to wobble.

Just got home from my third trip to the hospital since mid-September. Originally I had a perforated colon caused by diverticulitis. I managed to avoid surgery after a four day hospital stay. A week later I felt like shit again and after another CT scan they thought it was c diff (it wasn’t) but whatever it was was cleared up by antibiotics.

Sunday night it hit again while I was at a rock festival. Missed Metallica’s set and shivered in the car waiting for my buddies. Tough night and brutal drive home. Back to the ER today and the latest CT scan found a fistula, which may or may not require surgery.

Take care of yourselves and listen to your bodies. I probably could have avoided a lot of this if I hadn’t dragged my feet on the diverticulitis. Also, the new age for colonoscopy is 45 if you haven’t had one.

Just finished my 3rd MRI and 4th biopsy this week. For years my local urologist ran all the predictive test and kept telling me I had cancer or was about to get it. I think she finally got bored with me because I didn't. She finally said she wasn't focusing on prostate cancer anymore and sent me to UTSW in Dallas. I'm glad she did. They are truly a world class organization and I drive 3 hours and do overnights just to get in.

The last 10 years my PSA have shot through the roof. My last one was 12.8. Everyone I know that had a PSA that high had cancer. My new doctor didn't panic and said let's just check it out. He actually listens and help me work through it. He even gives out his personal cell number and answers it himself when you call. He was right and everything came back benign once again so I guess I am always going to be in PSA limbo.

I tried Flomax and a couple of others and didn't like the side effects. So I just live with BPH now. And interestingly Cialis is a possible treatment for flow problems but I guess insurance companies don't want a bunch of horny old men wandering the streets and won't pay for it. Prostate cancer was the 2nd leading cause of cancer deaths in men and probably the most treatable. If left untreated it will spread to vital organs and then you're really screwed. So listen to GOTJ, get checked early and yearly.
