Exactly right.

Granato isn't exactly Berman, he's run with some b.s. previously and shown his ass, and Schwab is a wannabe reporter chasing clout on twitter. Both are being bozos here imo. I don't believe this story for a second, but I definitely believe CC never intended to return to the Astros. He wanted out all along, the writing has been on the wall for months if not years.

Why do you think he never intended to return?  He seems to have ride-or-die type friends on the team - Machete, Altuve, LMJ among them. I never detected any friction with Dusty or the front office.

never really thought about it, but i would guess pettis and reggie were old pals from those 1980's california angels teams.  the one that tried to kill the queen.

pettis was a monster defensively (for those who don't know) and that 1986 team that lost to boston is often overlooked, as is that alcs.

Adam Morgan anyone?

The Astros have signed lefty Adam Morgan to a minor league contract and invited him to Major League Spring Training, tweets Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. Morgan is repped by CAA Baseball.

Morgan, 32, spent the 2021 season with the Cubs, pitching to a 4.26 ERA with a strong 25.9% strikeout rate against an 11.1% walk rate and a 44.8% grounder rate. It was the first season Morgan spent with any club other than the Phillies, who drafted him with their third-round pick back in 2011. Morgan spent the first six seasons of his career as a Phillie, originally pitching out of the rotation in 2015-16 before moving to the ’pen in 2017.

Since moving to a relief role on a full-time basis, Morgan has seen his strikeout rate and velocity increase, rising from 16.8% and 90.6 mph in 2015-16 up to 25.5% and 93.6 mph from 2017-21. He has a 4.13 ERA through 172 relief innings since making the switch. He’s shut down lefties to the tune of a woeful .198/.280/.305 batting line in that five-year stretch, but right-handed opponents continue to give him trouble, evidenced by a .281/.347/.528 output.

yep, that 86 angels team was solid. I'm also very familiar with the other teams/rosters from RBI Baseball that season...

Anyone notice that the Astros seem to be pretending absolutely nothing happened this weekend?

Social media team went radio silent all day Saturday. No "thanks for everything Carlos" tweet or FB posts or anything. Now back to to just posting pics of training camp.

And unless I've missed something, I don't think we've heard a peep from Crane/Click in the past 72 hours. I don't even think they've been seen in public.

Adams Morgan was where Gary Condit lived when Chandra Levy was murdered.

This is the most apathetic I have felt going into an Astros season since 2014.

I was pretty excited for 2014. Was pretty sure we turned the corner and made the furniture bet to the tune of 6 or 7k with Mattress Mack. Didn’t think we’d be good or anything, just not really bad and was excited for that after all the 100 loss seasons.
this is a tough year. Star losses piling up. Close shaves in WS. Not particularly worried about making playoffs with the new expanded playoffs. Nothing matters until the post season in an accomplishing goals kind of way.
Still, looking forward to it. Baseball season is the best because it’s background noise to life for 6 or 7 months until it’s constant heart attack time for a month if you are lucky.

After the letter is made public, Crane should sue MLB and demand replacement first round picks, a return to the NL, and for Orbit to be able to drag the latest Yankees WS trophy around in the parking lot.

And get to wear Babe Ruth's jersey to a crawfish boil.

I am fine with the AL and the burgeoning rivalry with the Yankees.
