So in the interest of maintaining your sanity, you pick two, maybe three issues and that's it.

I was going to go with two, but then it would be pointless to focus on the two without the third.   You pick two, maybe three issues and that's all you vote on.  You decide in the interest you really don't give a shit about any of the others.  Which do you pick?

Me:

1) Climate change

2) Equality of opportunity

3) Voting rights (broadening and anti-voter suppression)

The other shit is just details.  The candidate who addresses these first three the best will do a decent job on the rest.

Voting rights. All citizens 18 an older should have equal access to voting. Beyond that who do you want to broaden it to ?

Make Election Day a National Holiday

Make it more accessible, e.g. 24hr election sites in Harris County until it was taken away

Issue free IDs for everyone

Yes to 1

Sure 24 hours, but that kinda negates the need for a national holiday, as you have 24 hours to vote.

Yes, free ID's w/ verification. Everyone has a birth certificate, ss number, drivers license, bank card, etc.  This notion that you shouldn't have to verify who you are before voting is BS. today everyone is on the grid now (within a statistically minute margin of error)   If you're not that's by choice probably, and you

(self )forfeit some rights you shouldn't be if you wanna vote.

1. Climate change

2. Nuclear proliferation

3. Economic security (yeah I know that’s vague especially since it contains a litany of factors, but I’m not about to single out one factor at the expense of all others)

I don't know. I know that the party you support without reservation opposes all of those. If you're progressive on voting rights, mea culpa.

I believe every American citizen 18 and older should have the right to vote who can produce an ID that verifies they are who they say they are, and we should have voting numbers/ cards assigned at birth just like we have SS numbers/ cards.

1. World-class education for all (to steal a line from The West Wing, our schools should look like palaces, and the competition fierce to teach in them)

2. Economic Continuance (generation-to-generation industry planning, paired with education and technology)

3. Infrastructure

OK so a statically minute number may not have a BC, how many people don't have ss numbers today ? Cause if you don't you're gonna have a hard time getting all kinds of gov't services, bank accounts, etc.  But hey pick a point that's easily dealt with in any number of other ways, to achieve the same end result verification of who you are.

Term limits for Congress (and the SC for that matter) - these fucking career politicians sitting around DC getting wealthy fucking us over for decades has to stop.

significant health care reform  - have to get costs under control, there's so many angles to scrape profit out of the system and the common man takes it in the ass.

Figure out sensible ways to compress the growing wealth divide  - That issue is behind a ton of the division in this country, even if the politicians frame it as other issues (immigrants taking your jobs, socialism, etc etc...) . People are pissed off. Meanwhile the economic & political power brokers laugh and get richer by the day. System works great for them.

1) Make all abortions illegal no matter what and then don't take care of the kids once they are born.

2) Trans gender people being allowed to pee in my public bathrooms is scary and must be stopped.

3) Critical Race Theory (I have no idea what this is or how it affects me) but its as bad as socialism and must be stopped.

If I get a fourth issue its the Lizard People from another planet controlling our government.

Did I do this right?

Wait. That's not what he meant.

By he if you mean me, it is kind of what I meant (although he's throwing out three solutions to one of my issues).  In other words, look at the candidates - analyze them for their approach to climate change, for equality of opportunity, and voting rights (three issues).  May have lots of different ideas/solutions within these three categories, but that's what I'd focus on and try to ignore the rest of the issues.

a) you're talking about people like old black grandmas who were born at home via midwife and don't have a proper birth certificate.  these people are citizens who've been living their lives at the margin, not in the middle of it like you and i and pretty much everyone here.

b) social security card isn't sufficient evidence under texas's voter ID laws.  a social security card with a birth certificate would be but see a).  and lots of people have misplaced their social security cards - guess what you need in order to get a replacement?

they have a right to vote.  but because they weren't born at a hospital where you and I and most of the people either of us have met in our lives were born, it is difficult to impossible for them to comply with the ID laws.

in a time period where elections are decided with tight margins, people who have lived their lives at the margin and want to participate in democracy matter.  and it's them who are targeted by these laws.  the politicians know exactly what they're doing.  they know that there's less burdensome ways to verify that people aren't voting for others which can be done completely on the back end of the election system.  they know that there's ways to make sure people aren't voting twice other than having people flash a particular ID.  which just shows that those are not really the concerns.

i have to laugh at the opening a bank account example.  when was the last time you opened a bank account?  lots of people don't even use the banking system.  again, we're talking about people living on the margins of society that you and i live in the middle of.  they don't bank, they don't get on planes, they don't take international vacations, they don't drive, etc.

Tell me more about #3. Do you mean to address voter fraud? And I could be wrong but isn't what's typically what's found to be fraud was some sort of user error and less devious plots?

Yeah 99.9% of old people still have SS numbers unless they were born before the new deal.  I'm not trying to disenfranchise anyone. I'm sure there's a way to verify who you are for the sake of being able to get a voter ID card.  This claim it disenfranchises anyone is now way past its prime.

I opened one several months back for an estate account for my late father.

There are ways to verify peoples identity. We need a voter card to help make elections look and perform openly and fairly.  It protects everyones vote when everyone has to verify their identity.

yeah, they have SS numbers but, again, may not have the card and the card isn't sufficient evidence anyway, so just having a number is apropos of nothing.

it's intentionally burdensome and difficult even when doable.  maybe it should be easy as ordering shit from amazon but that's not how these voter ID laws in states like texas and georgia work.

again, there are other ways to do that but in states like texas and georgia you don't have that option.

the fuckup is there on light mode but because it's white on just a slightly off white background it's much less noticeable.

I would look to hit the core issues, with the assumption it fixes everything else.

1. Constitutional Amendment to end Citizens United and require full transparency of campaign funds

2. Votings Reform to include rights and standards of protections and neutrality at the polls

Agree on climate change but think that all gets blocked by corporate influence and dark money. I think a majority of Americans want it as well but voting issues routinely block their voices from being heard.

1. Countering China militarily, economically and diplomatically; shoring up the Western and Democratic world to maintain an international order that benefits the United States and those states who cooperate and partner with us.

2. Developing infrastructure to cope with and mitigate climate change and secure critical resources.

3. Investment in education and research to maintain our position as the leading technological and economic engine of the world.

Maslow’s hierarchy of needs up in here. Be safe, have the shit you need to live. Wealth and security allows you the luxury to address other issues.

Yes.  I'll preface it by saying I'm not a stop the steal guy.  But I can see things trending badly over the next several elections, to where half the country believes they were cheated.  Before we get the BoThSiDes replies, I expect someone to egregiously cheat at some point, giving the other side legitimate concerns.  So while what we have now is supposedly accurate, I believe it can probably be improved upon. I don't know how, but surely there is a way to improve what we have.  At the same time, we need to unfuck this state by state situation.  Our elections should be fair, voting access should be fair, and I don't care if that means my party doesn't get picked for awhile because of the changes.  Guess I should add gerrymandering to the list as well.  Only 3, come on?

I’m obviously for getting rid of Citizens United but donation transparency won’t mean shit. We already know these fucksticks are bought and paid for and keep re-electing them.

Well, I believe in the soul... the cock...the pussy... the small of a woman's back... the hangin' curveball... high fiber... good scotch... that the novels of Susan Sontag are self-indulgent overrated crap... I believe Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone. I believe there ought to be a Constitutional amendment outlawing Astroturf and the designated hitter. I believe in the sweet spot, soft core pornography, opening your presents Christmas morning rather than Christmas Eve, and I believe in long, slow, deep, soft, wet kisses that last three days.

Wait.  Shit.  That's more than three things.  Guess I'll skip the soul thing, and go with the next three, as they're all sex-related.  And I like sex.

1. Restoration of all lands stolen by heretics and rebels stretching from northernmost Canada to southernmost Chile and Argentina to their rightful owner as defined in the Treaty of Tordesillas: The King of Spain.

Brazil will naturally revert to the King of Portugal; we are not savages, the law is the law.

2 & 3: We see no need for 2 or 3 once 1 is accomplished. Such righteous adherence to the Will of God as expressed by His Popes will surely be rewarded by a shower of blessings, not to mention that our King will work to benefit us, his subjects, without our needing to trouble our brows about such things-- we need only act with faith, loyalty, and courage.
